2.4 Reliability
As single lights, CHROMOPHARE
®
surgical lights provide a high
degree of reliability because the individual LED odules are
controlled separately fro one another and the LED odules as
well as their e itters have a long service life. Additionally, the light
head is highly reliable because of the nu ber of LEDs used.
If individual LEDs fail, the function of the light head is not
co pro ised. If individual LED odules fail, the intensity is
reduced.
Do not use single lights for operations during which a failure could
seriously endanger the patient.
Light co binations with two or even three light heads provide
greater security against light failure and provide better illu ination
of the surgical field. They provide light fro various angles and
axi u protection against failure through double and triple
redundancy. This is particularly true if they are connected to an
e ergency power supply in addition to the ains supply. These
types of co bination lights ay be used in all edical disciplines
for lighting surgical areas.

Electrical current
DANGER!
Risk of death from electrical current!
Touching live electrical co ponents is life
threatening. Da age to insulation or individual
co ponents can cause fatal injury.
Therefore:
– If insulation is da aged, i ediately switch off
power supply and initiate repairs.
– Electrical work is to be perfor ed by skilled
electricians only.
– To perfor any electrical work, disconnect the
unit fro the power supply and verify that it is
dead.
– Before perfor ing any aintenance, cleaning
or repairs, switch off the power supply and
ensure it cannot be accidentally switched on.
– Do not bypass or deactivate fuses. Make sure
the a perage is correct when changing fuses.
– Keep conductive parts away fro hu idity. It
can cause a short circuit.
EMC risks (flat screens)
WARNING!
Use of non-EMC flat screens and switched-mode
power supplies is life threatening.
Radiation disturbances can skew easure ent
results of edical devices (e.g., onitoring of vital
functions). This can result in life-threatening
situations.
Therefore:
– Use only UL- or IEC-rated (UL60601-1, IEC
60601-1) flat screens and switched- ode
power supplies.
