5. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other
hidden utilities.
6. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
7. Do not use this unit with any separate solid-state speed control device.
8. To reduce the risk of fire, use only steel ductwork.
9. This unit must be grounded.
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A RANGE TOP GREASE FIRE:
A. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers

hat may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.
B. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when flambeing food (i.e. Crepes
Suzette, Cherries Jubilee, Peppercorn Beef Flambe’).
C. Clean ventil
ating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.
D. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface element.

7. Your hood motor has a thermal overload which will automatically shut off the motor if it
becomes overheated.The motor will restart when it cools down.If the motor continues
to shut off and restart, have the hood serviced.
8. For best capture of cooking impurities, the bottom of the hood should be a minimum of
24" and a maximum of 30" above the cooking surface. See page 9 for mounting restric-
tions.
9. Two installers are recommended because of the large size and weight of this hood.
10. This product is equipped with a thermostat which may start blower automatically.To
reduce the risk of injury and to prevent power from being switched on accidentally,
switch power off at service panel and lock or tag service panel.
11. Use with approved cord-connection kit only.

OPERATION
Controls
Your hood is operated using the (5) push buttons located at eye-level, on the front
edge of the hood. It includes an on-off light switch, a filter cleaning alarm, ten-minute
run delay and blower speed settings.
Light Button, Filter Alarm, Alarm Reset:
• Turns halogen lights on and off. Press once to turn the lights ON to low level.
Press a second time to turn the lights on to a brighter level. Press a third time
to turn the light off.
• When blower is off, this switch remains lit after 30 hours of operation, indicating
a need to replace the charcoal filter.
• After filters are cleaned or replaced, press this button for one-second to reset
the filter alarm.
Blower On-Off, Speed 1
• Press once to turn the blower ON to its lowest running speed.
• Quickly pressing the switch once delays blower shut off by ten-minutes.
• Depress and hold switch down to turn blower off without delay.
Blower Speed 2
• With blower running, press switch 2 to change blower speed to medium-low.
• Quickly pressing the switch once delays blower shut off by ten-minutes.
• To turn off without delay, depress and hold down the 0-1 switch.
Blower Speed 3
• With blower running, press switch 3 to change blower speed to medium-high.
• Quickly pressing the switch once delays blower shut off by ten-minutes.
• To turn off without delay, depress and hold down the 0-1 switch.
Blower Speed 4
• With blower running, press switch 4 to change blower speed to high.
• Quickly pressing the switch once delays blower shut off by ten-minutes.
• To turn off without delay, depress and hold down the 0-1 switch.
HEAT SENTRY™
Your hood is equipped with a HEAT SENTRY™ thermostat. This thermostat is a
device that will turn on or speed up the blower if it senses excessive heat above
the cooking surface.
1) If blower is OFF, it turns blower ON to HIGH speed.
2) If blower is ON at a lower speed setting, it turns blower up to HIGH speed.
When the temperature level drops to normal, the blower will return to its original
setting.
WARNING
The HEAT SENTRY thermostat can start the blower even if the hood is turned
OFF. When this occurs, it is impossible to turn the blower OFF with its switch.
If you must stop the blower, do it from the main electrical panel.

FUSE REPLACEMENT
IF LIGHTS FAIL TO OPERATE, DISCONNECT
THE POWER AT THE SERVICE ENTRANCE.
CHECK THE FUSE AND REPLACE IF
NECESSARY.
1. Remove the filters.
2. Locate the control board box and
transformer, positioned up inside the hood.

3. Unfasten (4) screws from the control board
box and remove the cover. Fig. 2
4. Remove the fuse from the control board.

5. Replace the fuse with the same size and
amperage (5x20mm, 4amp, 125volt).
6. Replace the control box cover and secure
with (4) screws.
7. Reconnect power at the service
entrance.

This range hood requires two halogen bulbs
(Type JC, 12Volt, 20Watt Max, G-4 Base).
ALWAYS SWITCH OFF THE ELECTRICAL
SUPPLY BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY
OPERATIONS ON THE APPLIANCE.
To change bulbs:
1. Open the cover by prying from the proper
slots. - DO NOT ROTATE. CAUTION: BULB
MAY BE HOT! Fig. 1
2. Replace with a Type JC, 12Volt, 20Watt
Max, G-4 Base bulb. Do not touch
replacement bulb with bare hands!

MAINTENANCE
Proper maintenance of the Range Hood will
assure proper performance of the unit.
Grease Filter
Grease filter should be cleaned when the light
switch flashes or remains lit when the blower
is off (i.e. 30 hours of operation). Use a warm
detergent solution to clean filters. Filters are
dishwasher safe. See page 12 for filter removal
and installation instructions.
Hood Cleaning
Stainless steel is one of the easiest materials to keep clean. Occasional care will
help preserve its fine appearance.
Cleaning tips:
•Hot water with soap or detergent is all that is usually needed.
•Follow all cleaning by rinsing with clear water. Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth to
avoid water marks.
•For discolorations or deposits that persist, use a non-scratching household
cleanser or stainless steel polishing powder with a little water and a soft cloth.
•For stubborn cases, use a plastic scouring pad or soft bristle brush together with
cleanser and water. Rub lightly in direction of polishing lines or "grain" of the
stainless finish. Avoid using too much pressure which may mark the surface.
•DO NOT allow deposits to remain for long periods of time.
•DO NOT use ordinary steel wool or steel brushes. Small bits of steel may adhere
to the surface causing rust.
•DO NOT allow salt solutions, disinfectants, bleaches, or cleaning compounds to
remain in contact with stainless steel for extended periods. Many of these com-
pounds contain chemicals which may be harmful. Rinse with water after expo-
sure and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
Painted surfaces should be cleaned with warm water and mild detergent only.

INSTALL THE DUCTWORK
NOTE: To reduce the risk of fire, use only metal ductwork.
1. Choose the location where the exterior blower will be mounted. See illustra-
tions below for mounting location suggestions and restrictions.
2. A straight, short duct run will allow the hood to perform most efficiently.
3. Long duct runs, elbows and transitions will reduce the performance of the
hood. Use as few of them as possible. Larger ducting may be required for best
performance with long duct runs.
4. After the exterior blower has been installed, connect round metal ductwork and
work back towards the hood location. Use duct tape to seal joints between
ductwork sections.
5. An 8” round to 10” round transition (Model 414) is required. For best air
performance, install the adapter as close to the range hood as possible.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, install this rangehood only
with EB6, EB9, EB12 or EB15 Exterior Blowers.
The exterior ventilator must be UL listed for Canadian and U.S. use, and evaluated
for use with solid state speed control, rated 120V, 60 Hz, 6.0 A max.

INSTALL MOUNTING
BRACKET
1. Construct wood wall framing that is flush
with interior surface of wall studs.
Make sure:
a) the framing is centered over
installation location.
b) the height of the framing will allow the
mounting bracket to be secured to the
framing within the dimensions shown.
2. After wall surface is finished, secure mount-
ing bracket to framing using dimensions
shown.
Note: minimum hood distance above cook top must not be less than 24”. A maximum
of 30” above cook top is highly recommended for best capture of cooking impurities.
Distances over 30” are at the installer and users discretion; and if ceiling height and
flue length permit.

1. Assemble the flue mounting bracket,
adjusting outside width as shown. Fig.4
2. Carefully center the mounting bracket
directly over the range hood location.
3. Securethebracketassemblytotheceiling
using (2) 4.8x38mm mounting screws
and drywall anchors. Make sure the
bracket is pushed into the corner, tight
against the wall and centered over the
hood.

PREPARE THE HOOD
Note: On stainless steel hoods, carefully
remove the plastic protective film from all
exterior surfaces of the hood and decorative
flues, prior to final installation.
1. Locate (2) tabs on top of the hood and inside
the round discharge opening. Fig. 5
2. Fold both tabs up 90 degrees. Fig. 5
3. Install the discharge collar inside the tabs
and secure with (2) 3.9 x 9.5mm screws.

4. Attach an adequate length of 8” round steel
ducting to the range hood’s discharge collar.

INSTALL THE HOOD
1. Install the hood into its mounted position.
2. Align the rectangular opening on the back
of the hood with the wall-mounting bracket.
Gently lower the hood until it securely
engages the bracket. Fig. 6
3. Levelthe hood andsecurewith (4)mounting
screws (4.8x38mm). Use drywall anchors
provided if wall studs or framing are not
available. Fig. 6

WIRING
CAUTION: All electrical wiring should be
done by a qualified person (s) in accordance
with all applicable codes and standards.
This range hood must be properly grounded.
Do not turn power on at service panel until
all wires have been connected.
Blower connection at hood:
1. Run 2-wire plus ground power cable from
the exterior blower to the hood’s wiring box
marked “motor connection”. Fig. 7
2. Remove the cover from the wiring box and
remove one knockout. Fig. 7
3. Feed 6” of cable through the knockout
opening and secure the cable to the wiring
box with an appropriate connector. Fig.7
4. Make electrical connections at the hood.
Connect white-to-white, red-to-black and
green-to-ground. Fig.7
5. Replace the wiring box cover and screws.
make sure wires are not pinched between
the cover and box.
Exterior blower connection:
1. Make electrical connections at the exterior
blower (see instructions provided with the
exterior blower).
Power connection at hood:
1. Run 120 VAC electrical power cable to the
hood wiring box marked “120VAC input”.

INSTALL THE FLUE
1. Carefully slide the upper flue down inside
the lower flue. Fig. 9
2. Lift and position the flue assembly into
the recessed area of the hood. Make sure
it is properly seated. Fig. 9
3. Raise the upper flue until its holes align
with holes in the flue mounting bracket
(located on ceiling). Fig. 9
4. Secure the flue with (2) mounting screws
(3.9x9.5mm). Fig. 9

INSTALL FILTER(S)
1. To remove the GREASE filter(s), grip the
latch tab and pull it down. This will disen-
gage the filter from the hood. Tilt the filter
downward and remove. Fig. 10
2. To install the GREASE filter(s), align rear
filter tabs with slots in the hood. Pull latch
tab down, push filter into position and
release. Make sure the filter is securely
engaged after assembly.

free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase. THERE ARE NO

During this one-year period, Broan-NuTone will, at its option, repair or replace, without charge, any product or part which is
found to be defective under normal use and service.

warranty does not cover (a) normal maintenance and service or (b) any products or parts which have been subject to misuse,
negligence, accident, improper maintenance or repair (other than by Broan-NuTone), faulty installation or installation contrary
to recommended installation instructions.
The duration of any implied warranty is limited to the one-year period as specified for the express warranty. Some states do
not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

4. Utilisez un extincteur SEULEMENT si:
A. Vous savez que vous avez un extincteur Classe ABC, et vous en connaissez déjà le mode d’emploi.
B. Ce n’est pas un très gros incendie et qu’il se limite à l’endroi où il a explosé.
C. Vous êtes en train d’avertir les pompiers.
D. Vous avez la possibilité d’essayer d’éteindre l’incendie en ayant le dos tourné vers une issue.

ATTENTION
1. Pour usage intérieur seulement.
2. Pour réduire tout risque d’incendie et pour évacuer correctement l’air, assurez-vous de prévoir un
conduit de ventilation extérieur. Ne videz pas l’air dans les espaces limités par des murs ou des
plafonds, les combles, les passages étroits ou les garages.
3. Faites très attention quand vous utilisez des produits de nettoyage ou des détergents.
4. Évitez d’utiliser des aliments pouvant s’enflammer sous la Range Hood.
5. N’utilisez cet appareil que pour une ventilation générale. Ne l’utilisez pas pour évacuer des matières ou
des vapeurs dangereuses ou qui peuvent exploser.
6. Pour éviter de causer des dommages au moteur et de rendre les rotors bruyants et/ou non équilibrés,
évitez que les sprays pour murs secs, la poussière de construction entrent en contact avec la partie
électrique.
7. Le moteur de votre hotte a un thermostat qui éteindra automatiquement le moteur s’il est surchauffé.
Le moteur se remettra en marche lorsqu’il se sera refroidi. Si le moteur continue à s’éteindre et à se
remettre en marche, faites vérifier votre hotte.
8. Pour mieux capturer les impuretés de cuisine, le bas de votre hotte devrait être à une distance
minimum de 24” et à une distance maximum de 30” au-dessus du plan de cuisson. Ref. page 20.
9. Vu que cette hotte est grande et lourde, il est recommandé de confier l’installation de cette hotte à deux
personnes.
10. Ce produit est doté d’un thermostat qui active automatiquement le moteur. Pour réduire le risque de
dommages et éviter l’activation accidentelle, positionner l’interrupteur du panneau de service sur la
position OFF et bloquer le panneau de service ou mettre un avertissement externe, par exemple une
plaquette.
11. Utiliser uniquement avec un kit de connexion pour alimentation homologué.
12. Nous vous recommandons de lire l’étiquette indiquant les caractéristiques de votre hotte pour de plus
amples informations et exigences.

FONCTIONNEMENT
Boutons
La hotte fonctionne à l’aide des (5) boutons situés à la hauteur des yeux, sur la face avant : un
interrupteur on/off, une alarme de filtre sale, une minuterie allant jusqu’à dix minutes et des
niveaux d’intensité du ventilateur.
Interrupteur de l’éclairage, alarme du filtre et remise en marche :
• Sert à allumer et éteindre les lampes halogènes.Appuyez une fois sur cet interrupteur pour
allumer les lampes (ON) à une faible intensité. Appuyez une deuxième fois pour augmenter
l’intensité des lampes.Appuyez une troisième fois pour les éteindre.
• Lorsque le ventilateur est éteint, cet interrupteur reste allumé après 30 heures de
fonctionnement pour indiquer que le filtre à charbon doit être remplacé.
• Après avoir nettoyé ou remplacé les filtres, appuyez sur ce bouton pendant une seconde
pour réinitialiser l’alarme du filtre.
Ventilateur On-Off, Vitesse 1
• Appuyez une fois sur ce bouton pour allumer le ventilateur (ON) et le régler sur sa vitesse la
plus basse.
• Appuyez rapidement sur ce bouton pour retarder la déconnexion du ventilateur de dix
minutes.
• Maintenez le bouton enfoncé pour éteindre immédiatement le ventilateur.
Ventilateur, Vitesse 2
• Lorsque le ventilateur est en marche, appuyez sur le bouton 2 pour passer à la vitesse
moyenne-basse.
• Appuyez rapidement sur ce bouton pour retarder la déconnexion du ventilateur de dix
minutes.
• Maintenez le bouton 0-1 enfoncé pour éteindre immédiatement le ventilateur.
Ventilateur, Vitesse 3
• Lorsque le ventilateur est en marche, appuyez sur le bouton 3 pour passer à la vitesse
moyenne-rapide.
• Appuyez rapidement sur ce bouton pour retarder la déconnexion du ventilateur de dix
minutes.
• Maintenez le bouton 0-1 enfoncé pour éteindre immédiatement le ventilateur.
Ventilateur, Vitesse 4
• Lorsque le ventilateur est en marche, appuyez sur le bouton 4 pour passer à la vitesse
rapide.
• Appuyez rapidement sur ce bouton pour retarder la déconnexion du ventilateur de dix
minutes.
• Maintenez le bouton 0-1 enfoncé pour éteindre immédiatement le ventilateur.
HEAT SENTRYMC
Votre hotte est munie d’un thermostat HEAT SENTRYMC.Ce thermostat est un dispositif qui
actionnera ou augmentera la vitesse du ventilateur s’il détecte une chaleur excessive au-
dessus de la surface de cuisson.
1) Si le ventilateur n’est pas en marche, il actionnera le ventilateur en haute vitesse.
2) Si le ventilateur fonctionne en basse vitesse, le ventilateur tournera en haute vitesse.
Lorsque la température revient à la normale, le ventilateur retourne à sa vitesse
d’origine.
AVERTISSEMENT
Le thermostat HEAT SENTRYMC peu actionner la hotte même si la hotte est arrêtée. Si
tel est le cas, il est impossible de l’arrêter avec l’interrupteur. Si vous devez arrêter le
ventilateur, faites-le à partir du panneau électrique principal.

LAMPES HALOGÈNES
La hotte doit être équipée de deux lampes
halogènes (de type JC, 12Volt, 20Watt Max,
G-4 Base).
DÉCONNECTEZ TOUJOURS
L’ALIMENTATION ÉLECTRIQUE AVANT DE
MANIPULER LA HOTTE.
Pour changer les lampes :
1. Ouvrez le couvercle en faisant levier dans
les fentes. - NE FAITES PAS PIVOTER
LE COUVERCLE.

2. Remplacez la lampe par une lampe de
type JC, 12Volt, 20Watt Max, G-4 Base.

ENTRETIEN
Pour un fonctionnement correct de la hotte,
procédez régulièrement à son entretien.
Filtres à graisses
Vous devez nettoyer les filtres à graisse
lorsque le voyant clignote ou reste allumé
alors que le ventilateur est éteint (après 30
heures de fonctionnement). Pour nettoyer
les filtres, utilisez une solution détergente tiède.
Les filtres peuvent être nettoyés au lave-vaisselle. Pour des instructions relatives
à l’installation et la désinstallation des filtres, consultez la page 23.
Nettoyage de la hotte
L’acier inoxydable est l’un des matériaux les plus faciles à nettoyer. Pour préserver
son aspect brillant, procédez de temps en temps à un nettoyage supplémentaire.
Conseils de nettoyage :
•Il est généralement nécessaire d’utiliser de l’eau chaude et du savon ou un
détergent.
•Après le nettoyage, rincez à l’eau claire. Pour éviter les traces laissées par
l’eau, séchez la hotte avec un chiffon propre et doux.
•En cas de décoloration ou de dépôts persistants, utilisez un produit d’entretien
ménager ne rayant pas ou une poudre abrasive en acier inoxydable avec
une petite quantité d’eau et un chiffon doux.
•Si le problème persiste, utilisez une éponge à récurer en plastique ou une
brosse en soie de porc avec un produit nettoyant et de l’eau. Passez doucement
en direction des marques de polissage ou des “ grains ” de la couche en
acier inoxydable. Évitez d’appuyer trop fort pour ne pas rayer la surface.
•NE laissez PAS les dépôts s’accumuler pendant trop longtemps.
•N’utilisez PAS de paille de fer ni de brosse en acier ordinaire. De petites
particules d’acier peuvent se déposer sur la surface et former de la rouille.
•Ne laissez PAS les solutions salées, les désinfectants, l’eau de Javel ou
les décapants se déposer pendant trop longtemps sur l’acier inoxydable.
En effet, la plupart de ces produits contiennent des agents chimiques pouvant
endommager l’acier. Après le nettoyage, rincez avec de l’eau, puis séchez à
l’aide d’un chiffon propre.
Pour les surfaces peintes, utilisez uniquement de l’eau tiède et un détergent
doux.

INSTALLATION DU SYSTEME D’EVACUATION
NOTE: Pour réduire les risques d’incendie n’utiliser que des conduits
métalliques.
1. Choisir l’emplacement où la ventilation externe sera montée. Voir les illustrations
ci-dessous pour le choix de l’emplacement et les éventuelles restrictions à suivre.
2. Un conduit d’évacuation étroit et court rendra la hotte plus performante
3. Des conduits d’évacuation longs, avec des coudes et des raccords rendront la
hotte moins efficace. Les utiliser le moins possible. En cas de conduits
d’évacuation longs on utilisera un diamètre supérieur.
4. Après avoir installé la ventilation externe, raccorder le tuyau métallique rond
dans le sens de l’emplacement de la hotte. Utiliser du chaterton pour fermer
hermétiquement les joints entre les tuyaux.
5. Dans le modèle 414, il faut un tuyau d’un diamètre de 8” à 10” .Pour obtenir de
bons résultats il faut installer l’adaptateur le plus près possible de la hotte

installer cette hotte uniquement avec des ventilateurs extérieurs modèle EB6,
EB9, EB12 ou EB15.
Le ventilateur extérieur doit être compris dans la liste UL pour l’utilisation au
Canada et aux USA et approuvée pour l’utilisation avec un “dispositif de
contrôle de la vitesse” à l’état solide, dont les données sur la plaque sont 120V,
60 Hz, 6.0 A max.

1. Construisez une armature murale
en bois affleurée avec une surface
intérieure de poteaux de cloison.
Assurez-vous que :
a) l’armature est centrée au- dessus
du futur emplacement de la hotte ;
b) la hauteur de l’armature permettra
d’y fixer le support de fixation en
respectant les dimensions
indiquées.
2. Une fois la surface murale terminée,
fixez le support de fixation à l’armature à l’aide des dimensions indiquées.
Remarque : la distance minimum au-dessus du plan de cuisson doit être
supérieure à 24". Pour que la hotte puisse mieux aspirer les impuretés, il est
recommandé de prévoir une distance maximum de 30" au-dessus du plan de
cuisson. L’installateur et l’utilisateur peuvent décider d’installer la hotte à une
distance supérieure à 30", si la hauteur du plafond et la longueur du conduit
le permettent.

1. Assemblez le support de fixation du
carneau en réglant la largeur extérieure

2. Centrez soigneusement le support de
fixation directement sur l’emplacement

au moyen de deux (2) vis de montage
de 4,8 x 38 mm et d’ancres murales. Vérifiez que le support est enfoncé dans
le mur adjacent et qu’il est centré au-dessus de la hotte.
