2. INFORMATION
The human body is composed almost exclusively of the following elements: bone, muscle,
organs, fat and water.
2.1. ABOUT BODY FAT MASS
Fat protects the organs, regulates the body temperature and contains vitamins and energy. The
percentage of fat can give an indication of the physical condition of a person.
The ideal percentage of body fat - also called adiposity - of an individual varies according to
age and sex.

2.2. ABOUT BODY WATER WEIGHT
Water is an essential component for the body. Its percentage is one of the indicators of the
health of an individual. Water plays a vital role for almost all the organs of the human body. It
gives shape to the cells, helps to maintain the body temperature, transports nutrients to the
whole body, hydrates the skin and improves the digestive process. It allows the elimination of
waste from the body, protects the vital organs and lubricates the joints, etc.
The ideal percentage of body water mass of an individual varies according to age and sex.

2.3. ABOUT MUSCLE MASS
The muscles play an important role because they act like the engine of your body by consuming
energy (calories). The muscle mass is calculated from the weight of the muscles of your body
(skeletal muscle, smooth muscle and water contained in the muscles).

Bone mass is the weight of the skeleton’s bones. The formation of bone mass begins in
childhood and adolescence and eventually reaches it's peak, which then begins to decrease at
about the age of 50. It is important to develop and maintain healthy bones by eating a balanced

2.5. ABOUT THE BMI BODY MASS INDEX
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indicator of your body fat and potential medical risks, based on
the ratio of weight to height.
It is calculated by dividing weight in pounds (lb) by height in inches
(in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703. (Formula : weight (lb) * 703 / [height(in)]²).

This information is given by BewellConnect® app for information only. If in doubt about your
results, please contact your doctor.
2.6. ABOUT DAILY CALORIE NEEDS
All food provides calories and all calories provide energy. The human body uses the energy to
live, breathe and carry out every day activities. Men consume more energy than women.
On average, men require 5-10% more energy than women with the exception of pregnant or
breastfeeding women whose daily calorie intake ensures mother and child are in good health.
Based on your age, height and gender, the BewellConnect® app estimates the number of
calories needed to meet your goal.
3. USE
3.1. PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USE
For all our models:
- Place the scale on a sturdy, level and non-slip surface (avoid installing them on a rug, for
example).
- Only stand on the scale when 0:0 appears on the screen.
- Be barefoot (without shoes or socks), otherwise the BIA (Bioelectrical impedance analysis)
results will not be displayed or will be false.
- The weight and fat mass vary during the day. We advise you to weigh yourself before meals to
obtain comparable results. It is recommended that you should measure your weight and body
fat mass at the same time each day, preferably on an empty stomach.
- The rates assessed by this device are only a reference and are not designed for a medical
purpose. If your rates are higher or lower than normal, please contact your doctor for advice.
For MyScale Analyzer BW-SC2 and MyScale Analyzer XL BW-SC6:
- This device is not suitable for children under 10 years for the calculation of body fat, water mass
and bone mass. Do not leave children unsupervised when using the device.
- This device is not suitable for persons over 100 years for the calculation of body fat, water mass
and bone mass.
- This device is not suitable for professional athletes or bodybuilders. The displayed results
might be inaccurate, due to variations of physiological muscle density and level of hydration
of athletes. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
- The device is not suitable for pregnant women, people with a pacemaker, people on dialysis,
people with an implant (e.g. prosthetics, contraceptive implants, pin, breathing apparatus) as
the device may malfunction. Please contact your doctor if you have any question.

the ratio of weight to height.
It is calculated by dividing weight in pounds (lb) by height in inches
(in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703. (Formula : weight (lb) * 703 / [height(in)]²).
BMI DIAGNOSTIC (given as a guideline only)
BMI Diagnostic
< 16.5 Severely underweight
16.5 - 18.5 Underweight
18.5 - 25 Normal
25 - 30 Overweight
