1. Savety and operang instrucons
When assembling, starng-up and adjusng the modules, it is necessary to consider the system specic references
in the instrucon manual.
The modules may only be installed and started up by authorized technical personnel. Only the mounng styles
described in the Quick Start Guide are supported.
When installing the modules into the receiving points, the adherence of the EMC regulaons is to be ensured.
The installaon and wiring have to be done without voltage. For installaon, only use the supplied accessories
(DIN rail clip with screws and 19“ accessories).
All acve modules may only be powerd by the power supplies of the HELIOS family, HELIOS-P1 or QUASARIOS.
Only connect the module with the provided accessory cables.
The mains voltage and the operang voltage of the modules working by DC have to be in compliance with the
operang parameters described in the technical data.
With all work the defaults of the DIN EN 50083 have to be considered. It is especially important to follow
DIN EN 60728-11.
The unit must only be mounted vercally. The venlaon slots as well as the circulaon perforaon of the
modules is not be obstructed in any way.
If installed in mounng cabZinets a adequate heat circulaon must be guaranteed. The mounng in closed
cabinets without air sucient ow is not allowed.
For DIN rail mounng is important to note that between the heat sink and a neighboring module, a distance of
0,79" is required. If the modules mounted on top of each, so they must be spaced 7.87" apart.
For 19“ mounng all devices in the rack must be ed with 19“ Edge Guide. Mounng the device using only the
screw holes at the front panel is insecure and discouraged. Furthermore, the operaon of a fully occupied rack is
only allowed with an underlying 1-U fan box (at least 3 fans, 6,93" deep).

5. General
The Smart Business Line (SBL) is a modern headend system, that is disnguished by its modular and compact design. A
userfriendly operang concept facilitates setup, conguraon and maintenance of the system.
The module converts digital terrestrial signals into QAM signals to transmit it in cable networks. In this case, up to 8
QAM channels from the available DVB-C /-T /-T2 signals are generated, which are aached via two inputs. The internal
processing allows the output of DVB signals in full HD resoluon.
6. Funconal descripon
The DVB-C /-T /-T2 signal is fed through 2 inputs or a loop-through input by a switching matrix to the input parts and
their demodulators. The resulng 8 transport streams are processed with a high-performance FPGA. The transport
stream processing or ltering, the QAM modulaon and the freely adjustable up-converng in the cable network range
(45 ... 862 MHz) take place in the FPGA.
The eighold modulator is adjacent channel compable. A highly-clocked digital to analogue converter (DAC) does the
spectrally pure output of the cable signal. Aer amplicaon and sum level adjustment, the cable signal is coupled
through a direconal coupler to the output jacks.

7. Sengs by the web interface
To use all funcons of the module acvate Java Script in your browser sengs.
Sengs via checkbox are applied immediatelly, but not stored in memory! So they would be lost on a possible
restart of the module. To save these sengs the “send“ buon must be pressed.
Please send and store your sengs by pressing the“send“ buon aer each change.
7.1 Network connecon to the computer
System requirements:
- PC/ laptop with 10/ 100 Mbit Ethernet interface
- Internet browser (e.g. Windows Internet Explorer), capable JAVA script
Setup the connecon:
The module has to be connected to PC network using an Ethernet cable. The default IP address of the module is
192.168.1.100.
In order to access the web interface of the module from a PC, the PC has to be in the same subnet (192.168.1.XXX;
subnet mask 255.255.255.0), where XXX is not used by any other module in this subnet.
If mulple modules are connected to the same network each module must be set to its own unique IP address to avoid
address conicts.
Aer these sengs, the IP address of the PC has to be adjusted to match the network. Now the modules can be accessed
via browser with the new IP address.
If acvated (Setup→GUI Sengs→Acvate user and keyword check), the user has to log in now (»chapter 7.2.7).
Aer successful registraon or a connecon establishment without password (default seng) the start page of the
module is displayed (»chapter 7.2.1).

7.2 Seng of individual parameters
Here you can set certain parameters of the module or perform conguraons. The various seng menus can be
selected in the navigaon tree on the le side. The seng is supported by an online help. If you mouse over a parameter
explanaons of this parameter are displayed in an orange colored text box in the lower part of the screen. By sengs
in the “Setup“ menu (»chapter 7.2.7) can be selected so that the help is displayed in the status bar of your browser.
Therefor seng changes in the browser opons could be necessary.
By default status informaon for the module is displayed below the navigaon tree. An opon to move it on the right
side instead is available (GUI »chapter 7.2.7).
All eight channels are listed individually. A green LED symbol in front of “channel 1 ... 8“ means that input and output
are synchronized and that the channel operates without error. An orange colored symbol indicates that an error has
occurred. An overview of the status of various parameters of the channel is obtained by clicking the corresponding
channel. A transparent LED symbol means that the channel is not congured or the RF output is turned o.
The “Power“ LED indicates the connecon status between the network interface and the module. The “System“ LED
gives an overview about the status of the system parameters.
If you click on a channel an overview window is displayed. The pop-up window closes aer 20 seconds or by cklicking
in its lower part.
In all menus it‘s possible to switch the language between German and English on the top right.

7.2.1 Menu "Overview"
This page provides an overview of the 8 channels. "SYNC" is diplayed if a channel works correctly. If an error occurs or
the channel is o a corresponding message is shown.
The interface of the A-QAMOS MUX is separated for the mulplexer and QAM output. If a channel works correctly,
"MUX" resp. "QAM" is displayed in a green color. An inacve mulplexer is not displayed.
Below the status window all modules belonging to the headend are listed (headend »chapter 7.2.7 ). Funcons across
modules like the NIT exchange between modules of the QAMOS group can be done on all listed modules.
The individual components of a headend are listed with their IP address. The IP address is a link which leads to the
module. If no headend was congured, a "Search" buon leads to the "Setup" menu and scans the network for other
A-LINE-SBL and SBL modules. Then all available modules are listed. They can be selected and added to the headend.
By clicking the "Logout" buon the user is logged out and the login window is displayed.

7.2.2 Menu „Input”
In this menu the adjustment of the up to 8 tuners is done to receive the required programs.
Port 1 (IN) is always congured as an input, Port 2 (IN / OUT) can be congured as input or loop-through output. Each
port can be equipped with an input aenuaon of 15 dB.
Now select the tuners (1 ... 8). Per used tuner the receiver sengs are done according to the modulaon (DVB-T, DVB-T2,
DVB-C) and to the receiving program packages.

Only for the modulaon required seng boxes are acvated. All other elds are grayed out and disabled.
By pressing the „Send“ buon, the sengs are saved and displayed. In the right part of the eld the program list of the
transponder appears.
1 The input of the bandwidth is only required for DVB-T and DVB-T2 modulaon.
2 The stream selecon is only available if DVB-T modulaon is present. If the DVB-T transport stream has been transmied
with hierarchical modulaon it can be determined by the selecon eld, whether the transport stream is to be received

7.2.3 Menu ”Mulplexer”
This menu is only available for A-QAMOS-CT-MUX at the le in the navigaon tree. Here the compilaon of the channel
packages that are transferred to the output channels is done.
On the le the 9 IP inputs (8 SAT tuner + media player) and on the right the 8 output channels are displayed.
To make alteraons, click the prefered output channel (acve channels are highlighted in orange color). A list of the
services that are already transmied in the channel will be shown. If no services have been transferred, the list is empty.
Press the “X“ buon to remove a service.
To add a service, rst select one (or more) input(s) (input 1 - 8, media player). If done, the scan starts and the services
are listed, assigned to their inputs. By pressing the buon “All loading“ below, the services of all inputs are listed. The
“»“ buons add a service to the transfer list at the right.
With a double-click on the name of the channel (right
column) the adjacent window is displayed, where you can
edit name and service ID of the channel.
Select the checkbox in front of a service, to show a
corresponding, extended list of the service with all of it's
contained single streams. The checkbox behind a single
stream marks, if it's transmied or not.
The expanded list must stay open aer such a ltering of
single streams. Otherwise the ltering is undone and all
streams are sent. If the checkbox of the extented list is
inacve, also all single streams are transferred.

Further you can select, in which priority (low, middle or
high) the transfer of services is done. Due to the dynamic
transmission rate of the services the bruo bitrate of the
channel could be exceeded. This could lead to malfuncons
up to total failure of services. In this case, services with
the lowest priority are restricted, so that the ongoing
transmission of high-priority services is trouble-free.
If you choose too much services for transmission the bruo bitrate could be exceeded. This is indicated by a red LED
in front of the channel. Read in the “Status“ menu (»chapter 7.3.9) the output parameter (overow bitrate > 0 MBps).
The number of services to be transmied must be reduced unl the channel bitrate does not exceed the bruo bitrate
(overow bitrate = 0 MBps) anymore.
The “i“ buon gives an overview of the assignment of the 16 output channels. The transmied programs are listed per
channel, specifying their name, service ID and name of the transponder from which the transmier was taken.

7.2.4 Menu ”Sengs”
Each channel can be adjusted according to individual requirements. Select a channel by clicking on it either le in the
navigaon tree or by on the tabs above the set-up tables.

In the acve LCN processing the “Edit“ buon directly leads to the LCN editor (»chapter 7.2.12).
For QAMOS-CT the ltering of the programs is done here. If the program lter is turned o, all programs of the received
transponder are transmied.
The programs are listed with service ID and a checkbox to select the program. In the right part of the interface the lter
acvaon is displayed. The “Filter mode“ denes whether the selected channels are blocked or allowed to pass. In
the box “Informaon of other transponders“ denes if addional informaon about SDT data from other in the data
stream transferred transponders is ltered out. Possible EPG informaon from other transponders, which can also be
transferred under the “Other“ in the data stream, are always transmied. The buons below simplify the selecon.
For QAMOS-CT-MUX the mulplexer parameters are set
instead of the program lter.
Adjustable are the source of TOT/ TDT, the EIT mode, the
CA mode and the source of NIT.

7.2.5 Menu "Language"
In this menu the user interface language can be changed. Choose between German and English. The adjustment is done
either in the navigaon tree at the point “language“ or on the top right with the language selecon box.
7.2.6 Menu ”Service”
Here you nd all service informaon:
the BLANKOM service hotline and e-mail address, the manual as pdf le and a link to the BLANKOM homepage where
the latest soware release is available. Also the currently installed soware release is displayed.

7.2.7 Menu ”Setup”
In this menu, various administrave and system sengs are made.
The following can be congured:
Graphical User Interface: GUI sengs
› Help info within the status line of the browser
By default, the online help is displayed in an orange
colored text box at the boom of the page. If this opon
is selected, the help texts are displayed in the status bar
of your browser instead (must be allowed in the browser
sengs).
› Display all system les
By default “System administraon→Backup“ all system
les are up- / downloaded as a single le. By selecng
“display all system les“ all system les are displayed. Now
specic les can be selected for up- / download.
› Display tabs
By default, the tabs are shown in the upper part of the user
interface. Unselect this opon to remove them.
› Display status on the right
By clicking the check box, the status of the channels and the
system is displayed on the right side of the user interface.

› Opmizaon for low-speed data connecvity
Selecng this opon reduces the image size to accodate a
low-speed data connecon (GSM).
› Output frequency raster
With this selecon box you can set the output channel
spacing, which is pre-set for adjustment of the QAM
channels. To choose there are the standard B/G raster,
the standard G raster (connuous 8 MHz) and the channel
spacing of the cable company "Kabel-Deutschland-
Gesellscha (KDG)".
› Fan mode
Available sengs are from automac mode to permanent
ON.
› Acvate user and password check
This opon can only be deacvated by the administrator. If
disabled, no login is required ( »chapter 7.1).
Headend
Lists all A-LINE-SBL and SBL modules, which are found in
the same network. By pressing the “Search“ buon the list
is updated. All marked modules belong to the headend and
are displayed on the “Overview“ page.
Date and me
Clicking the “Set“ buon, the date and me will be set to
that of the PC.
Enabling of
The registraon code for the soware opons must be
entered in the input eld and by pressing the “Send“
buon. Acvated opons are displayed in black, inacve
are grayed out.

System administraon
By default the short list is displayed.
› Backup
The default is to save or load the complete conguraon.
If under “GUI setup→Display all system les“ is selected,
all system les are listed. The system les can also be
loaded or saved separately.
› Update
Click the red colored “Load“ buon to load a soware
update.
The buon “View log“ leads to an overview, in which all
the processes have been documented since the start of the
GUI. Each operaon is listed by date, me and descripon.
If operaons have been executed, the logged on user,
who iniated the acon, is saved too. By pressing of the
“Erase“ buon all entries are deleted (only possible by the
administrator).
System

Sengs of the web interface
The module supports the DHCP funconality. DHCP-Client
is factory default. Note, that aer each factory reset the
module is set to “DHCP-Client“.
If the DHCP funconality is set to “O“, the appropriate
elds for IP number, subnet mask and gateway can be set
manually to t the network.
If the module is set as “DHCP-Client“, it automacally
obtains an IP address from the DHCP server on the network.
The manual network sengs are disabled.
By pressing the “Info“ buon the automacally assigned
network conguraon of the module is displayed. Close
the window by clicking in its lower area or wait 20 seconds.
Please note:
If the module is set as “DHCP-Server“, the IP address
192.168.1.100 must not be set. If you select this address
an error message will be displayed.
In addion to the IP sengs, you can congure the DHCP
range from which the connected client IP addresses are
assigned. The address range has to match the IP address
and subnet mask of the server and should not be too small.
The default is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.99.
Along with the DHCP server a local DNS (Domain Name Server) will be set up. To use it in full extent a connected PC/
laptop must be congured as a DHCP client. Note that, using Windows, not only the IP address but also the DNS server
address has to be obtained automacally.
If the module is congured as a DHCP server or client and the client has received an IP address successfully, the module
can be accessed via a web browser using its name. This name is composed of the prex “sbl“ and the module number
that is printed on the back of the module and on the packaging. For example, the module with the number 0123456 can
be found under “sbl0123456“. It might be necessary to add the domain name. In case that the module was congured
as a server, the name of the domain is “sbl0123456.sbl“. If another DHCP server is used, ask your administrator for the
domain name.
An example for the simplicaon of the conguraon or operaon of the headend via DHCP is, that module is congured
as a server, the remaining modules and the connected PC/ laptop are congured as a client.
By calling “dhcp.sbl“ in the browser the GUI of the server module is loaded. Now the headend can be read. So all
connected components are found and listed. The headend can now be stored in the Setup→System administraon.
By selecng the respecve modules link in the headend overview, you can switch to the other modules user interface
quickly.
