14 Retractable tie downs (TOR)
1. The Solo oor anchors will have been installed in the vehicle in accordance
with our own and the vehicle converter’s instruction. Position the wheelchair
within the vehicle as required.
2. When using Quattro tie-down with J-hooks or karabiners, ensure that the
karabiner / J-hook gates are facing outwards. If using tongue and buckle, the
buckle may be positioned facing inboard or outboard.
3. Install each front retractor clear onto a front Solo anchor (sprung or xed) by
aligning the open mouth of the cleat, (Fig. 12B), and the protrusion, (Fig. 12A),
to the slot on the oor anchor. Slide the cleat fully home (allowing the keyway
within the cleat to guide into its home position, Fig. 11A & 11B) and rotate the
cleat through 90° to align the retractor with the wheelchair frame, (Fig. 11).
4a. Quattro: Press the release button(s), (Fig. 10A), to release the webbing and
attach each of the karabiner, hook or tongue and buckle arrangements to the
wheelchair frame. (Some wheelchairs will indicate this position, Fig. 4). Press
the yellow button(s) again to remove the webbing slack.
4b. Quattro Express: Webbing can be extended from the reel without pressing
the yellow button if the lock label, (Fig. 5) is NOT visible. Attach each of the
karabiner, hook or tongue and buckle arrangements to the wheelchair front
frame. (Some wheelchairs will indicate this position, Fig. 4). The yellow button
must be pressed if extending webbing with the label in view, (Fig. 10A). The
webbing will retract automatically into the reel. IMPORTANT: The yellow
locking label must be fully visible to ensure that the reel is locked off, (Fig. 5).
5. Ensure that the webbing of each tie-down is approximately the same length,
and at an angle of around 40 to 60°, (Fig. 3).
6. A rear tie-down must now be tted.
Removing the TOR light wheelchair
tie-down
1. Release the tension in the rear
tie-downs by pressing the release
button, (Fig. 10A) and extending
the webbing to allow the karabiner,
J-hook or tongue and buckle
arrangements to be removed
from the wheelchair frame. If the
webbing is particularly tight, it may
be necessary to slightly ’tension’
with the hand wheel, (Fig. 10B),
while pressing the release button,
in order to remove the webbing
lock on the Quattro.
2. Remove each Quattro Solo from
the anchor by rotating the tie-
down through 90° so that the
raised protrusion on the cleat is
aligned with the indent on the oor
anchors (Fig. 11). Slide off.
3. Pull the tie-down away from the
oor anchor and store safely.
