Laser Printer HL-3260N
Continue to the reverse side.
1Lift the green handle.
1Slide the paper tray out.
1Set the paper sensor. 2Make sure that the printer power switch is off.
Connect the AC power cord to the printer.
Do not connect the interface cable.
3Plug the AC power cord into an AC outlet.
Turn the power switch on. 4After the printer has finished warming up, the READY message appears. 5Press the Go switch. The printer prints a test page. Check that the test page has printed correctly.
Note: When you want to set the
Control Panel message language,
refer to the Control Panel section on
the reverse side of this sheet.
2Make sure the side guide lock lever
is set to the "unlocked" position. 3While pressing the release lever of the side guide (1), slide the side
guide wide open (2).
4Align the right side of the paper stack
and load it into the paper tray. 5While pressing the release lever of the side guide (1), align the side
guide for the loaded paper size (2).
6Set the side guide lock to the
"locked" position. 7While pushing the release lever of the rear guide (1), align the rear
guide for the loaded paper size (2).
8Adjust the paper size dial to match the
loaded paper size (1).
Slide the paper tray into the printer (2).
2While pushing the green lever down (1), hold
the handle and slide the toner holder out
slightly (2).
3Release the green lever and slide the
toner holder out gently until it stops. 4Rock the toner bottle gently several times (1), and remove the black lid (2). 5Put the toner bottle in the toner holder (1), then push the top of the bottle downwards to
lock it in place (2).
6Slide the toner holder into the printer until
it clicks into place and then push the
green handle down.
7Close the front cover.
1Remove the tapes. 2Slide paper tray 2 out. 3Release the side guide lock lever (1) and then
slide the side guide while pressing the release
lever (2).
4Remove the tape and the
cardboard. 5Take the toner bottle out of paper tray 2.
6Slide paper tray 1 out. 7Repeat Steps 3and 4above on
paper tray 1. 8Slide paper tray 1 and 2 into the printer
until they stop. 9Open the front cover. 10 Remove the red tag, the metal fitting and the two tags.

Before you can use the printer, you must set up the hardware and install the driver.
Identify the operating system on your computer (Windows®95 / 98 / Me, Windows NT®4.0,
Windows®2000 or Macintosh®).
The interface cable is not a standard accessory. Please purchase the appropriate interface
cable for the interface you intend to use (parallel or Network). Most existing parallel cables
support bi-directional communication, but some might have an incompatible pin assignment
or may not be IEEE 1284 compliant.
Follow the instructions in this guide for your operating system and interface.

When you use BR-Script 3
(PostScript level 3 language
emulation), you can use Agfa
PostScript Fonts.We
recommend that you install
these fonts.
Follow the instructions for your interface cable and
operating system. Step 5 Connect the Printer to your PC & Install the Driver
1Turn the printer power switch off. 2Connect the interface cable to your
PC and then connect it to the printer. 3Turn the printer and your PC power switch on. 4Insert the CD-ROM into the CD- ROM drive.
The opening screen will appear
automatically.
Note: If the "Add New Hardware
Wizard" appears, click the Cancel
button.
9Select "Standard installation" and
click the Next button.
10 Select "Local printer" and click the
Next button. 11 Select the port your printer is connected to and then click the Next
button.
12 Click the Finish button.
The setup is now complete.
8Click the Next button.

menu screen.
5Select the language you want. 7Click the "Printer Driver" Install
button.

Note
1. A real time clock is built into this printer.Set the time referring to Chapter 3 of the User's
Guide on the CD-ROM.
You need to set the time before you can use the log management and reprint functions.
2. Please enhance the RAMDISK size when you want to secure print without the optional
HDD or CompactFlash.
See RAM expansion in Chapter 4 of the User's Guide.
Lights when the printer is ready to print or printing.
Lights when the printer is in the on-line state.
Lights when the printer has a problem (Operator Call, Error, Service Error) and suspends
printing.
Lights when data remains in the printer buffer.
Blinks when the printer is receiving or processing the data.
Exit from the Control panel menu, Reprint settings and clear Error Messages.
Pause / Continue printing.
Stop and cancel the printer operation in progress.
Print secure documents.
Select the Reprint menu.
Move forward and backward through menus.
Move forward and backward through selectable options.
Select the Control panel menu.
Set the selected menus and the settings.

1. Select the SETUP mode by pressing the +switch, and press the Set switch.
2. Check that the LANGUAGE message appears, and press the Set switch.
3. Choose your language by pressing the +or -switch, and press the Set switch.
An asterisk mark (*) appears at the end of the display.
(You can return to the READY status by pressing the Go switch.)
