Keep your invoice with this manual. Write the invoice number on the inside of the front
cover. Write the product’s serial number in the back of the manual near the assembly
diagram, or write month and year of purchase if product has no number. Keep this manual
and invoice in a safe and dry place for future reference

WARNINGS
Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
Check for damaged parts. Before using any product, any part that appears damaged
should be repaired by a qualified technician.
Carefully check to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended
function.
Check for any broken or damaged parts and any other conditions that may affect
its operation.
Use of any other parts will void the warranty.
Keep children away. Do not allow children to play with the safe or safe codes.
Maintain product with care. Keep the Safe in a dry location. Do not expose to rain.
Use the right Safe for the situation. There are certain applications for which this Safe
was designed. Do not modify this product and do not use this product for a purpose
for which it was not intended.
Do not use the Safe if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels
on prescriptions to determine if your judgement or reflexes are impaired while taking
drugs. If there is any doubt, do not use the Safe.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Fingers could be slammed by the lid of the Book Safe closing accidently.

UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any
parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown on the
cover of this manual as soon as possible.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Your Book Safe (1) comes completely assembled. It is important that you read the
entire manual to become familiar with the product BEFORE you setup and use the
Safe.
The Steel Book Safe (1) is designed to resemble an ordinary book. A new cover can
be applied to the outside if you so choose. (Not Provided).
SETTING THE COMBINATION
Numbered Dial

Turn to ZERO.

To open the Book Safe (1), turn the Numbered Dial Lock (2) on all three dials, to the
number ZERO. Lift the Lid. See Figure 1.

Inside of the Book Safe (1), on the back of the Lock, is a Lever with a red cap over it.
Remove the cap before proceeding to step three. Replace the red cap after setting the
combination. (See Figure 2).
Push that Lever “OVER and UP” - from B position to A position. See Figures 3 & 4.
Note: Important: You cannot change the Lever unless the Numbered Lock Dials (2) are
on “0-0-0”
Rotate the three Numbered Lock Dials (2) to numbers you are familiar with such as
a birth date or address. Record your personal numbers away from the Book Safe in
a safe place. .
Do not disturb the new combination. Flip the Lever back into it’s original position - from
A position to B position. (See Figures 3 & 4). Do this BEFORE closing the Book Lid.
Shut the Lid and test to see if it is locked.
Once it is locked, and the Lid is secure, spin the dials (2) to “any number” to discour-
age easy opening. Without the code, a thief cannot access the contents in your Book
Safe without breaking it open.
If you want to change to a new combination, repeat the steps 1 through 4.
Warning: No device is completely theft proof. This is not a place to keep explosives
or firearms. The Steel Book Safe is not fire-proof or waterproof. Harbor Freight Tools
is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
MAINTENANCE
Protect the Safe from moist or wet conditions. Moisture may cause damage in the
dial or corrosion of the steel.
Occasionally wipe the safe and dial clean with a soft dry cloth or brush.
Occasionally apply a small amount of light oil or lock lubricant to the mechanical
lock mechanism.

is free from defects in materials and workmanship for the period of 90 days from the date
of purchase.This warranty does not apply to damage due directly or indirectly, to misuse,
abuse, negligence or accidents, repairs or alterations outside our facilities, criminal activity,
improper installation, normal wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance.We shall in no event
be liable for death, injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special
or consequential damages arising from the use of our product. Some states do not allow
the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation
of exclusion may not apply to you. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.
To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned to us with
transportation charges prepaid. Proof of purchase date and an explanation of the com-
plaint must accompany the merchandise. If our inspection verifies the defect, we will either
repair or replace the product at our election or we may elect to refund the purchase price
if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replacement. We will return repaired
products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect resulted
from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of return-
ing the product.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which
vary from state to state.
