Packing List
Compare the contents of the shipment to the items on the following list to ensure
all parts are received with the stirrer. Do not discard the container and packing
materials until all parts are accounted for. It is recommended that the original
packing materials be kept for transportation and storage.

Introduction
This stirrer is specically designed for professional use in the laboratory and for
use in industry to stir liquids with various properties and applications.
This stirrer uses a high efciency brushless DC motor. The speed is kept constant
with continuous feedback to the motor. When torque demands are outside the
stirrer’s range, integrated electronic overload protection ensures no damage can
occur to the electronics, motor or transmission.
The stirrer is designed for reliability and durability. There are no wear parts
that require user service during the normal life of the stirrer. There are no user
serviceable parts.

Safety Instructions
1. All operators must be familiar with the stirrer and read this entire manual.
If the stirrer is used in a manner not specied by the manufacturer, the
protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.
2. The stirrer must be securely xed to a stable support. Mount to a Caframo
stand using a Caframo heavy duty clamp. If other stands or clamps are
used, the stirrer must be secured such that it will not fall if tipped.
3. CAUTION: This is not an explosion proof stirrer. Do not use in a highly
ammable or explosive environment.
4. Spinning impellers can cause severe personal injuries. Operators must
use extreme care and good judgment when mixing at any speed.
5. All mixing paddles and impellers must be in good condition with straight
shafts. If the stirrer vibrates at high speeds check the paddle shaft for
damage and repair or replace if needed.
6. Extreme care must be taken when mixing chemicals to ensure that no
chemicals are splashed outside the mixing vessel. Care must be taken
when changing to faster mixing speeds.
7. Ensure that the mixing impeller does not contact the containment vessel.
8. Do not operate while standing in water. Keep the stirrer dry and do not
immerse any part, except the mixing paddle into any liquids. Protect from
splashing.
9. Ensure that no loose clothing, jewelry, or hair can become entangled in any
rotating parts. A fast spinning chuck can cause injury to operator.
10. Power can be interrupted to the stirrer by pressing the power button. In an
emergency, disconnect the mains cord.
11. Ensure the power button and mains power cord of the stirrer can be
accessed immediately, directly and without risk at any time, and above
all, in case of fault.
12. The stirrer must be used with supplied power cord.The cord and grounded
plug type are important safety elements. Do not use an inadequately
rated cord or ungrounded plug. Always connect the mixer to a grounded
outlet. Do not alter the plug.

General Instructions
Read Safety Instructions: Unpack the stirrer carefully. Ensure the stirrer is not
damaged and verify the contents against the packing list. If the stirrer is damaged
or the contents do not correspond with the packing list, notify your supplier im-
mediately.

Installation
Installing the support rod
Remove the hex screw and lock washer from the support rod. Insert the support
rod into the back of the stirrer so that the holes line up for the hex screw. Secure
with hex screw and lock washer and tighten with hex key.
Clamp the stirrer to a Caframo stand on a stable, level surface (see Safety Instruc-
tions).
Connect stirrer to supplied Caframo power supply. Connect power supply to a
grounded electrical outlet.
Impeller attachment
Insert the impeller shaft into the open chuck and adjust the impeller to the desired
height. The hollow shaft allows the impeller shaft to come through the top of the
stirrer if necessary. Tighten the chuck’s outer ring by hand and then secure with
the chuck key.
CAUTION:
Operating a freely rotating impeller shaft through the top of the stirrer is not
safe. Do not allow the impeller shaft to touch or extend through the rubber
gasket while the motor is powered on. The gasket is for sealing purposes only.
Environmental Operating Conditions
The BDC2002 and BDC2010 stirrer must operate in the following conditions:
Indoors
1. Altitudes up to 2000 m (6500 ft).
2. Temperatures from 5oC to 40oC (41oF to 104oF).
3. Maximum relative humidity 80% for temperatures up to 31oC (88oF) decreasing
linearly to 50% relative humidity at (104oF).
4. Pollution degree 2 in accordance with IEC 664.

Auto Start
This stirrer includes an optional Auto Start feature.When set, the stirrer will resume
mixing after a power failure, when power has been removed by control equipment
(i.e., PLC) or when the AC power has been cut (i.e., stirrer unplugged). When
power is restored, the stirrer will automatically ramp up to the last set speed and
resume mixing. The stirrer ships from the factory with Auto Start disabled.
To set the Auto Start feature rst ensure the stirrer is powered off. Press and hold
the Increase Button then press the Power Button. When active, Auto Start is indi-
cated by:
BDC2002 - A solid LED dot in the bottom right corner of the display
BDC2010 - Flashing LED dots along the bottom of the display
To disable Auto Start rst ensure stirrer is powered off. Press and hold the De-
crease Button then press the Power Button.

Make sure the stirrer is securely mounted as specied in the installation instruc-
tions. Ensure the mixing paddle or impeller is securely attached at the desired
position.
The stirrer is now ready for use to mix liquids and liquid/solid solutions. Appro-
priate impeller and container specications must be determined by the operator,
ensuring that all safety instructions are followed.
Keypad Functions
Power Button - Turns the stirrer motor on and off. When initially turned
on, stirrer will spin at 40 rpm following a 5 second delay. The last set
speed is remembered.
Increase Button - Increases the speed by one rpm. If pressed within
ve seconds of the stirrer being turned on it will stir at the last speed
before powered off.
Decrease Button - Decreases the speed by one rpm. If pressed within
ve seconds of the stirrer being turned on it will stir at 40 rpm.
Light Power Button - Turns the light on and off. The stirrer must be
plugged in for the light to function.
Safety is built into this stirrer. When it is turned on it pauses for 5 seconds before
it starts to mix. The last speed used is displayed on the LED. The user has three
options.
1. Do nothing. The stirrer will start to stir at 40 rpm after ve seconds.
2. Press the increase button and the stirrer will start to stir at the last speed set
before powered off. This speed is displayed.
3. Press the decrease button and the stirrer will start to stir at 40 rpm.
LED Display
Numeric value reects speed (rpm). A solid LED dot indicates the Auto Start fea-
ture is enabled (see Auto Start). A “soft start” has been incorporated into the stirrer.
When the increase or decrease buttons are pressed and held, the speed ramps
smoothly so that getting to the speed you require is quick and easy.
Display Codes
OL Indicates an overload condition. The load is too great for the stirrer and must
be reduced. To reset stirrer turn power off and back on.

OH Indicates an overheat condition. The operating conditions have caused the
stirrer to overheat. Reduce stirrer loads and / or environmental temperature to
continue mixing. To reset stirrer turn power off, allow stirrer to cool and then
turn back on.

tions. Ensure the mixing paddle or impeller is securely attached at the desired
position.
The stirrer is now ready for use to mix liquids and liquid/solid solutions. Appro-

Keypad Functions
Power Button - Turns the stirrer on and off. The last set speed is re-
membered.
Multi-Function Button - Sets three parameters - speed (rpm), count-
down timer (minutes) and xRx agitation (seconds).
Increase Button - Increases the speed by one rpm or the countdown
timer by one minute or the xRx agitation by one second.
Decrease Button - Decreases the speed by one rpm or countdown
timer by one minute or the xRx agitation by one second.
Reverse - Reverses the direction that the impeller is turning. The impel-
ler turns clockwise by default.
Start/Pause Button - Allows the stirrer to be paused and started again.
Use this button to start the stirrer when ready.
Light Power Button - Turns the light on and off. The stirrer must be
plugged in for the light to function.
LED Display - Numeric values reect speed (rpm), countdown timer
(minutes) or xRx agitation (seconds). Solid LED dots indicate which
function is selected. Flashing LED dots indicate the Auto Start feature
is active (see Auto Start). The LED dots do not act as numeric decimal
points.

Clockwise Mixing
Turn the stirrer on by pressing the power button. The display will read 40 rpm and
the speed LED dot will be illuminated. Increase to the desired speed and press the
start/pause button. The stirrer will start turning in a clockwise direction. The speed
LED dot will be illuminated (solid) and the speed value in rpm will be displayed.
Counter Clockwise Mixing
Set by following the clockwise stirring instructions above. Press the reverse button.
The reverse button can be pressed while the stirrer is running to mix in a counter
clockwise direction. The LED dot above the reversing icon will be illuminated (sol-
id) when mixing in a counter clockwise direction.
Countdown Timer
Turn the stirrer on by pressing the power button. Set the desired speed by pressing
the “+” button. Press the multifunction button until the LED dot for time is illumin-
ated. Press the “+” to set the countdown timer in minutes. Press the start/pause
button to start mixing. Press the multifunction button to toggle the display between
speed, time and cycle. Stirring stops when time is completed. Three beeps will
sound. Note: Countdown Timer value cannot be changed during operation.
xRx Agitation Cycle
Turn the stirrer on by pressing the power button. Set speed as above and count-
down timer if desired. Press the multifunction button once more until the indicator
light for cycle is illuminated. Press the “+” to set the number of seconds the impel-
ler will rotate in one direction before changing directions. Press the start/pause
button. Note: xRx Agitation Cycle value cannot be changed during operation.
For example: If set for 5 seconds the impeller will turn clockwise for 5 seconds at
the set speed then stop and change to turn counter clockwise for 5 seconds. This
pattern will continue until the pause button is pressed or until the time is completed
(if set).
The display will show the cycle seconds counting down during each direction un-
less speed or the countdown timer is selected.
When the stirrer is powered on, the default speed is 40 rpm, countdown timer is 0
minutes, and the xRx agitation cycle is 0 seconds.
The stirrer will remember the original values set for speed, the countdown timer
and the xRx agitation cycle so that when the start/pause button is pressed again
the operations will repeat.
Speed can be changed (increased or decreased) while the stirrer is running. Press
the multifunction button so the speed is displayed. Increase or decrease speed by
pressing the “+” or “-” buttons.
The countdown timer and the xRx agitation cycle can be changed only when the

stirrer is paused and the indicator lights are solid.
The multifunction button can be pressed when the stirrer is running to view the
status of each function.
For safety, a “soft start” has been incorporated into the stirrer. The stirrer will ramp
up to reach the set speed to minimize splashing.
Display Codes

Cleaning and Service
Cleaning
Unplug stirrer prior to cleaning. Using a mild soap and water solution, wipe the
housing and control panel of the stirrer with a damp cloth. Do not use chlor-
ine bleach, chlorine-based cleanser, abrasives, ammonia, steel wool, or scouring
pads with metal content or similar harsh solvents or abrasives. These may dam-
age the surface of the stirrer.
Service
Do not attempt to service or repair stirrer. If the stirrer housing is opened, the war-
ranty becomes void. Contact Supplier for return authorization and return instruc-
tions. Clean the stirrer so that it is free from any materials which may be harmful.
Provide an SDS or other safety data sheets for all chemicals used in conjunction
with this stirrer where appropriate. Place the stirrer and its parts into the original
packing to protect and prevent damage during transport. Follow shipping direc-
tions provided by Caframo when return is authorized and RMA issued.
CAUTION:
Failure to clean, service, and handle the stirrer as outlined above can cause it
to fail which could impair the safety of the user.

Warranty and Product Liability
Warranty
Caframo warrants the herein described product of its manufacture for three years
from receipt of the equipment by the purchaser, against defects in material and
workmanship. Warranty registration is available on the Service and Support page
of our website (CaframoLabSolutions.com).
This limited warranty covers parts and labour. If the stirrer housing is opened, the
warranty becomes void.
This warranty may only be altered by a specically published amendment. No
individual has authorization to alter the provisions of this warranty policy or its
amendments. Expendable items are not covered by this warranty. Damages due
to corrosion or accidental breakage are not covered.
Product Liability
Under no circumstances shall Caframo be liable for indirect, consequential, or spe-
cial damages of any kind.
Caframo reserves the right to make technical changes without prior notice.

Introduction
