setupexamplesapplyforWindows98,Me,NT,2000&XP®.Duetothedivergentgraphical
interfacesofthesedifferentoperatingsystems,theremayormaynotbeanextrasteptofollow
(e.g.anadditionalproceduretoopenaprogramfromtheStartMenu).Thisguideisoptimized
forWindowsXPProfessional.The819‐1XRTisavailableforCDMAcellularnetworks.Please
refertotherespectivemanualforfurtherdetails.
MODEMUSE
TheLandCell™819‐1XRTcellularmodemisdesignedandintendedforuseinfixedandmobile
applications.“Fixed”assumesthedeviceisphysicallysecuredatonelocationandnoteasily
movedtoanotherlocation.The819‐1XRTwouldberoutinelyrelocatedinamobileapplication.
Pleasekeepthecellularantennaofthe819‐1XRTatasafedistancefromyourheadandbody
whilethemodemisinuse(seebelow).

4. ClickApplyandOK.ThewindowshouldexitouttothePhoneandModemOptionsbox.
5. ClickthetabatthetoptitledModems.SelecttheStandard19200bpsModem(orthe
KyoceraHigh‐SpeedModemifyouinstalledusingthedriverfromthewebsite)andclick
Properties.
6. ClicktheModemTabatthetopofthisnewbox.TheboxtitledMaximumPortSpeed
shouldread:115200.Ifnot,scrolldowntoSelect115200.ClickOK.ClickApply.ClickOK.

indicatesyouarenotregistered.Itmaytakeupto15secondsafterpower‐uptoregisteron
thenetwork.Onceregistered,atypicalresponseis+CSS?:1,A,4152where1istheband
class,1=800MHz,2=1900MHz,A‐Fistheband(Zindicatesyouarenotregisteredon
network),4152istheSID,i.e.thecelltowerID,(99999indicatesyouarenotregisteredon
network).
7. ConfirmthephonenumbercurrentlyinthemodemwithAT$KWDIR?.Itshouldbe10digits
(i.e.0000005555)priortoactivation.
8. PerformtheactivationinstructionsspecifictoyourcarrierasindicatedinAppendix1:

occurswhenthemodulefirstregistersontotheSprintnetwork.ThisIOTAsessionisqueued
whenSprintoriginallysetsupand'activates'theaccount.Intheircurrentimplementation,
Sprintimposesa72hourexpirationtimerforthisqueuedIOTAsession.
AnIOTAsessionhasadevicetime‐outof15minutes.Ifthereisnosuccesswithin15minutes,
