QUICK INSTRUCTION
This booklet gives a brief overview of
the most important controls of the
Case IH Puma CVX
The quick instruction is not a substitute for the operator´s manual !
To operate the vehicle follow the
instructions in the operator´s manual !
Note: this quick instruction also includes optional
equipment that is not included in the basic version.

FIRST STEPS
To start using the tractor:
1. Set Shuttle Lever in Parking Position !
To start the engine set shuttle lever
in parking position (press lever down,
then forward).
2. Ensure that Multicontroller
(MC) is fully pulled back !
Only start the engine with
the MC in full backward
position.
3. Adjust the Split Hand Throttle –
Eco-DriveTM !
Acceleration only possible if right
hand lever is set above the left one.

4. Depress Clutch Pedal !
In order to start the engine the clutch pedal
must be depressed.
5. Choose the right speed range!
3 speed ranges (target speeds) each in forward
and reverse are available.
The target speed in each speed range can be
adjusted between 0,03 and 43 or 52 km/h with
the scroll wheel on MC.
Change between speed ranges with buttons on MC.
6. Start driving!
Select driving direction with shuttle lever.
Ground speed can be changed either by
moving MC or using foot operated speed pedal.
Both MC and foot pedal are always active –
simply choose your driving preference
and change between operating
modes whenever you want.
Foot pedal fully down or MC
fully forward = target speed.

SELECTION OF DRIVING SPEED:
Both Multicontroller and driving foot pedal change the
ground speed when being moved.
Engine speed and transmission ratio are automatically
adjusted by the APM engine –transmission
management no operator effort required.
APM is always available at key on. 
ACCELERATION:
Your Puma CVX will increase the ground speed
proportionally to the rate you move the MC forward or
depress the driving pedal.
quick movement = quick acceleration.
DRIVING
soft speed reduction = long roll out distance
medium speed reduction = medium roll out d.
quick speed reduction = short roll out distance
Level 1 is default and always available at key-on (your dealer can
change this to “memorize level“ if desired).

DECELERATION:
Driving with foot pedal:
rate of speed reduction depends on
aggressivity level set with button on ICP.

DECELERATION:
Driving with Multicontroller:
•Pulling back MC fully backward quickly 
max. deceleration through engine and gearbox
(4WD engages) active hold control.
TRANSPORT OF HEAVY TRAILERS:
Keeping tractor/trailer combination stretched:
•Pulling back MC fully backward slowly / moderatly
speed reduction in accordance to set aggressivity
level active hold control.
If your tractor/trailer combination is instable,
the trailer brakes can be applied while the tractor
is still applying draw pull.
DRIVING
•Keep the MC-shuttle button pressed (forward) –
automatic engine speed reduction while braking
is deactivated and transmission remains frozen
in present ratio,
•by applying the service brake and accelerating
with MC or foot pedal the tractor/trailer
combination remains stretched (both tractor and
trailer brakes are active).
•Activation of this feature is shown in A-pillar
display.

REMOTE VALVES

1. Rear mounted remote 1 respectively –
if fitted - remote 5 is activated on
Multicontroller. Any remote with option
configurable remote valve operation.
2. Paddle levers on armrest control up
to 4 remote valves in a proportional
way (default for operation of rear
mounted valves). Positions:
- float control,
- retract (lower),
- neutral.
- extend (raise).
3. Operation of up to 4 remotes with the
proportional joystick (default for mid
mounted valves).
Remote 1 forward/reverse

4. Control of rear and mid mounted
remotes can be swopped between
joystick and paddle levers.

REMOTE VALVES
CONNECTION:
Connecting a single acting cylinder:
hydraulic hose coupled to raising port
To extend cylinder  paddle lever in
raise position (fully backwards)
To retract (lower) cylinder paddle
lever in float position (fully forward)
Connecting a double acting cylinder:
hydraulic pressure hose coupled to
raising port,
hydraulic return hose coupled to
lowering port .
To extend cylinder  paddle lever in
raise position (fully backwards)
To retract (lower) cylinder paddle lever
in lowering position (one step forward).
Connecting an oil motor:
pressure hose in raising port, return hose
in lower ing port (respectviely to free flow
return coupling / case drain).
Engage oil motor mode (p. 12).

POWER BEYOND
For direct oil supply to implements capable
of controlling oil pump pressure and flow
rate a POWER BEYOND plate is available
for all models.

Shift + up hitch raises to

Engaging AUTO FLOAT mode:
Keep shift + down pressed for 3 seconds.
every time front hitch is lowered it will
go down to set work position and
then into FLOAT.
Disengaging AUTO FLOAT mode:
Keep shift + up pressed for 3 sec.
6. Turn on front auto PTO operation
if required (see page 16).

3 PTO speeds available. Options:

Engine speeds:
- 540 @ 1.969 rpm
- 540E @ 1.546 / 1.592 rpm /
- 1.000 @ 1.886 rpm
- 1.000 E @ 1.621 rpm
Puma 185 –240 CVX
2 or 4 PTO speeds available. Options:
540E / 1.000 or 1.000 / 1.000E

POWER TAKE OFF
AUTO PTO:
1. Set lifting height values for
rear and front hitch, at which
PTO shall switch off and on in
AFS Pro 700 monitor.
2. Activate AUTO PTO switch
on ICP while PTO is on.
Note: Auto PTO disengages when leaving the tractor.

All Puma CVX tractors are equipped with a system that enables
recording and playback of repeated actions on the headland HMC.
HMC status and functions are displayed in AFS Pro monitor.
RECORDING A SEQUENCE:
1. Choose if you want to record sequence (field out) or (field in)
time or distance based 
2. Start recording by pressing HMC step switch on MC or simply start
working with your first vehicle function. Pressing the HMC step
switch while recording inserts a PAUSE.
3. When headland manouver is completed  short saves sequence.
The following actions or functions may, depending on tractor specification,
be included in the sequence:
Lock / unlock front suspension. Raise / lower front and/or rear three point hitch. Operate
electronic remote valves. Hydraulically adjust the top link and/or right-hand lift rod.
Transmission operation. Engage and disengage front and/or rear PTO. Engage the
constant engine speed management. Engage AutoGuidance. Run Eco Fan operation.

REPLAY OF A SEQUENCE:
1. Choose if you want to replay sequence (field out) or (field in)
with time or distance based recorded values.
You can also replay sequences A and B in alternating order or
2. Start AUTOMATIC REPLAY of all recorded functions
of a sequence by pressing HMC step switch.
Pressing the HMC step switch during replay sets the
system into PAUSE mode.
3. MANUAL REPLAY the programme will pause after
each step is completed. Depress the step switch to
replay the next step.

HMC II
As an option the Puma CVX can be equipped with a state of th art
end of row system that is operated on the AFS monitor HMC II.
Depending on the tractor configuration there are different HMC II
functions storeable.
To work with the system choose the icon HMC on the home screen.
RECORDING A SEQUENCE :
Recording during active work:
1. choose if you want to have the actions recorded
depending on the distance you drive or the time
that elapses until you carry out an action.
2. pressing “record START“ immediately
triggers recording.
No separate activation
or settings necessary.
3. the 1st action executed is always stored with
0 seconds / 0 meters delay.
This means, when the playback mode is started
(see section “Replay“) the action is executed
immediately.
If a delayed start is wanted a time / distance value
can be inserted once the whole sequence is
recorded.
There are two different modes available to record
a sequence record the functions during active
work in the field or record while parking by keying
in functions on the AFS monitor.
