SECTION 1 -- SAFETY FEATURES AND VEHICLE OPTIONAL SAFETY
1--15
SUMMARY OF SAFETY RULES
For your safety always comply with the following
rules:
xEnsure that there is nobody within the machine
operating range.
xDo not stand or walk under the arm of the vehicle
xBefore leaving your driving seat:
-- set the gear selector in neutral;
-- apply the parking brake;
-- stop the engine.
xNever lift loads greater than those shown on the
carrying capacity diagram on the lifter. The oper-
ator must first assess the size of the load to be
lifted.
xThe load diagram is meant for a machine on flat
and stable ground. Avoid operating with loads on
an unstable or sloping ground.
xLoads shown on load diagrams must be reduced
by the weight of possible attachments.
xIndications provided by the anti--overturning sys-
tem must be considered valid for machines in
standard operating conditions on flat and stable
ground, and with a functioning and correctly cali-
brated instrument. In any case limit values on
load diagrams must in no case be exceeded.
xSet the forks in a symmetrical way with respect
to the arm axis and uniformly distribute the load
between the two forks.
xWhen a load is handled, it is necessary to check
its stability when driving uphill or downhill, oper-
ating, if necessary, on the fork tilt control to
restore it to safe conditions.
xOperations must all be performed with the mini-
mum loader arm admissible under operating
conditions.
xTo lift a load it is recommended to raise the arm
first and then operate the loader arm extension.
In a similar way, to lower a load, first pull in the
extension, and then lower the arm.
xAvoid load lifting and transport operations over
working or transit areas. Should this not be poss-
ible, give proper sound warnings.
xWhen the machine is travelling, no manoeuvre of
the load is allowed. The handling of materials
must be performed with the boom lowered and all
the slides retracted.
xMaximum admissible speed with a suspended
load is 5 km/h: it is therefore necessary to restrict
hydraulic and mechanical operation speed.
DRIVING ON ROADS OPEN TO PUBLIC
TRAFFIC
xOn these roads steering is admissible only on the
front axle.
xThe arm must be lowered to allow resting on the
special ledge.
xInstall the fork guard.
xCab controls must be locked.
USE OF THE ATTACHMENTS
xReduce the loads shown on the load diagram by
the weight of the attachments used.
xThe centre of gravity must be that of the load plus
the attachments.
USE OF THE LOADING BUCKET
xWhen using the lifter with a loading bucket, the
bucket filling operation must be performed with
the loader arm extension fully retracted.
USING THE VEHICLE AS A CRANE
xDo not lift loads that are not properly placed in
slings.
xDo not start or stop the machine with a jerk.
xAvoid load oscillations and especially allowing
the load to hang outside the pulling vertical line.
xAvoid oblique pulls and towing.
WARNING
It is absolutely forbidden to tamper with or change the
calibration values of the hydraulic system compo-
nents.
