3.2.2 Minimising risk of injury
The following basic principles apply for minimising the risk of injury:
• Any work on the machine may only be executed by qualied personnel.
• The personnel must be authorised by the operator for the respective activity.
• The personnel must have familiarised themselves with all safety equipment before start-
ing work.
• Make sure that all protective covers are correctly mounted and closed. Check regularly
whether your personnel also comply with these rules!
• The personnel must have familiarised themselves with all operating elements before
starting work.
• The area at and around the machine and at all workplaces must be kept orderly and
clean.
• The personnel must wear the safety equipment specied for this machine (safety shoes,
safety goggles, hearing protection, protective gloves and dust mask).
• During operation, qualied people with rst-aid training must be on call, who can initi-
ate the required rst-aid measures if necessary.
• Processes, expertise and responsibilities in the area of the machine must be unambigu-
ously specied. Correct behaviour in case of malfunctions must be clear to everyone.
The personnel must be instructed on this regularly.
• Make sure that the machine cannot be switched on when conducting any repairs and
maintenance work in the danger area of the machine.
• Warning signs and information on the machine must be complete and clearly legible.
Therefore, clean warning and information signs regularly and replace if necessary.
