Welcome to u e CHARGERY 550B-- A LiPo Smart balance charger i de igned pecially for 1 to 5
LiPo cell in erie NOT FOR LEAD ACID and NIMH/NICD. Plea e read the in truction before u ing
the charger.
Special Features
Built-in balancer for LiPo cells
550B ha an individual cell balancer in ide, o it can charge and balance the battery pack
imultaneou ly.
Only for LiPo not lea aci battery an NIMH/NIC battery pack
It i uper ea y to operate the 550B. You need not choo e and confirm the battery type; the
battery chemi try i no opportunity to confu e you. What you do i to connect the charger to
the battery pack and then to connect the DC power to the charger.
High power an high performance circuit
CY-550B employ the circuit that ha maximum output power of 50W. A a re ult it can charge
5 erie of lipo batterie with maximal current of 2. 5A.
Dual confirmation for battery count in series
Be ide et up manually the battery count (the re ult i “S”), the C550B will identify the count
automatically (the re ult i “R”), and adju t the charging voltage and current automatically
through comparing the “ S ” with “ R ”.

Charging time limit
The charging time can be re trained; you can et it upon the battery tatu to prevent from
any po ible defect.
Battery temperature limit
The battery temperature will ri e by it internal chemical reaction. If you et the limit of
temperature the charging proce will be topped forcibly when the temperature reach the
limit.
Capacity charge limit
The capacity charged alway calculated by multiple of the charge current and time. If the
capacity charged reached the limit you et the charging will be terminated automatically.
Input power monitor
To protect the car battery u ing a input power from being damaged the input voltage alway
monitored. If it drop the lower limit the charging proce will be ended automatically.
At the ame time, when you u e the AC adaptor or tran former a input power, if the input
voltage i more than the limit the charging proce will be terminated to protect the CY-550B
from being damaged.

Initial parameter set up
CY-550B will be operated with the default value of the e ential u er etting when it i connected
to a 12V battery or a 12V adapter for the fir t time. The LCD di play the following information in
equence and the u er can change the value of parameter on each tep. When you are willing to
alter the parameter value in the program, pre start/enter button to make it blink then change
the value with DEC or INC button. The value will be tored by pre ing start/enter button once.

Thi i tar creen.
An optional feature u ing temperature probe contact the urface of battery. The feature can
be on or off. If it i on, et the maximal temperature at which the charger allow battery to
reach during charge. Once the battery temperature reache the limit while charge, the
charging will be ended to protect the battery
When you tart a charge proce , the integral afety timer automatically tart running at the
ame time. Thi i programmed to prevent overcharge the battery if it prove to be faulty or
if the termination circuit can not detect the battery full charged. The value hould be
generou enough to allow a full charge of the battery
The program et the maximal charge capacity that will be upplied to the battery during
charge. If the termination circuit can not detect the battery full charged, thi feature will
automatically top charging at the et capacity value.
The beep ound at every time pre ing the button to confirm your action. The beep or
melody ounded at variou time during operation to alert different mode change . The e
audible ound can be on or off.
The program monitor the voltage of battery u ed a input power. If the voltage drop below
the value you et, the charging proce will be terminated forcibly to protect the battery.
You can adju t the brightne of LCD creen at the charger.

Lithium polymer battery charging mode
The e program are only uitable for charging LiPo batterie with a nominal voltage of 3.7V/cell.
The type of battery need to be charged at con tant current (CC) and con tant voltage(CV) mode.
The charge current i dependent on the battery capacity, generally the charge current i le than
1C (the C i battery capacity, for example, if the capacity i 1000mAH, the charge current i le
than 1000mA). The terminal voltage of full charged i very important, it hould be 4.2V/cell for the
nominal battery of 3.7V/cell, if the voltage exceed 4.2V, the battery will explode during charge.
The charge current and nominal voltage a for cell count et on the charge program mu t alway
be correct for the battery to be charged.
You hould connect the battery power lead to the output of charger at thi program. When you
want to alter the parameter value in the program, pre START/ENTER button to make it blink then
change the value with DEC or INC. The value will be tored by pre ing START/ENTER button once
again.

Pre the START/ENTER button, and then pre the DEC or INC to et value.
After etting the current and voltage pre START/ENTER button for more than 3
econd to tart the proce . (Charge current: 0.1~5.0A, Voltage: 1~5 erie )
When pre the DEC to et the battery voltage or count , you can choo e the AUTO
MODE, 550B will identify the battery count automatically.
The left creen how the battery count, ‘S’ i the re ult et up by you at the previou
creen and ‘R’ how the battery count detected by the 550B. If both count are identical
you can tart charging by pre ing START/ENTER button. If not, pre STOP button to
go back to previou creen. Then carefully check the battery nominal voltage to charge
again.

3. On the top line it mean battery count, charging current and battery voltage from

To change the charge current, pre START/ENTER button. Decrea e or increa e the
current by pre ing the DEC or INC button.
To top the charge, pre STOP button.

Charging Lithium polymer battery at balancing mode
Thi i for balancing the voltage of the pack to be charged. To do thi , the battery pack hould
have the balance connector. And connect it to the balance connector at the right ide of charger.
You do not need connect the battery output jack to the output of charger at thi program. But it i
better that you do o.
In thi mode, the charging proce will be different from ordinary charging mode. The built-in
balancer will monitor the voltage of each cell of the battery pack and control the charging current
feeding to each cell to balance the voltage.

Warnings an safety information
Never leave the charger unattended when it i connected to it power upply. If any malfunction i
ob erved immediately terminated charging and refer to the operation in truction .
Keep away the unit from du t , damp, rain, heat direct un hine and vibration. Do not drop it.
The charger and the battery to be charged hould be et up on a head-re i tant,
non-inflammable and non-conductive urface. Never place them on a car eat, carpet or
imilar.
Keep all the inflammable volatile material well away from operating area.
Be ure to under tand the information of the battery to be charged accurately. If the battery
count i et up incorrectly the battery can everely be damaged, even cau e a fire or an
explo ion by over-charged.
Do not connect more than one battery pack to the charger output lead at any time.
Do not attempt to charge the following type of battery:
Lead acid battery or VRLA
NIMH/NICd battery pack.
Any other type of battery except for li-ion and lithium polymer battery.
Battery pack, which con i t of different type of cell (including different manufacturer ).
Battery, which i already fully charged or ju t lightly di charged.
Non-rechargeable batterie (Explo ion hazard).
Faulty or damaged battery.

Plea e bear in mind of checking the following point before charge operation.
Did you elect the appropriate program, which are uitable for the type of battery?
Did you et up adequate current for charging?
Lithium battery pack can be compo ed with parallel and erie circuit mixed. You have to
check the compo ition of the battery pack carefully before charging.
Are all connection firm and afe, or i there an intermittent contact at any point in the
circuit?
