General
The CommScopeM3200 FTP modular panel is a highly flexible 24-port, front or rear accessible patch panel
assembly. When properly grounded and installed with FTP M-series or J-series outlets, modular patch cords,
and cables, it is an integral part of an X1OD FTP connectivity system. The panel consists of a rack mounted
base unit, three slide-in drawers with conductive front bezels, and labels for standard port numbering. It mounts
in a standard 19-inch (483 mm) equipment rack with universal hole spacing and incorporates lugs for panel
grounding.

WARNING –Important Safety Instructions
When using this product, the following basic safety precautions should be followed to reduce the risk of fire,
electric shock, and injury to persons:
1. Never install communications wiring in wet locations unless it is designed for wet locations.
2. Never install this product during a lightning storm. There is a remote risk of electric shock.
3. Never touch uninsulated communication wiring or terminals unless the communication circuit has been
disconnected at the network interface.
4. Caution: All wiring that connects to this equipment must meet applicable local and national building codes
and network wiring standards for communication cable.
Step 1 ― Mount Panel to Rack

Step 2a ― Populate Carrier and Secure Cables to Carrier
1. Cable outlets per the instructions provided
with the individual outlets, then populate
carriers with appropriate outlets.
Note: The upper row of outlets must be
populated before the lower row.
2. Cables should be secured to the carrier
using the supplied cable ties. Tie wrap
two cables (one from upper row and one
from lower row) together to a lug as
shown. Do not tie wrap cables from the
upper row of modules directly to the tie
wrap lugs.
Step 2b ― Remove Carrier from Panel for Front Access Cabling (Alternate)
Captive screws
1. Remove a carrier from base by loosening two captive screws and sliding it forward.
2. Populate the carrier as described in Step 2a above.
Note: Extra cable length is required for the front access cabling method.
3. Reinstall carrier in panel.

Step 3 ― Connect Ground to Panel

1. Using one of two lug connections provided on rear of panel, ground the panel per approved local
practices.
Step 4 ― Attach Labels and Label Covers
1. Create port labels for each vertical pair of ports. The following methods are recommended:
•Method A – Print the port designations on plain paper and trim to fit the label areas. A template in
Microsoft Word®format is available on the CommScope website under SYSTIMAXM3200 panel
labeling, or it may be obtained from any CommScope representative. A perforated sheet (760060392)
for use in most laser printers is available, or the labels may be trimmed from plain paper. The label
should be 0.43 inches (11 mm) wide and 1.40 inches (36 mm) high.
•Method B – Print the port designations with a standard tape-based labeler. Each labeling area will
accommodate a tape up to 0.43 inches (11 mm) wide and 1.40 inches (36 mm) high.
•Method C – Print the port designations with any type of adhesive labeling system and apply them to the
supplied label cards.
2. Place each label in the area to left of the appropriate pair of ports and secure it with a clear plastic label
cover.
Note: With Method B, it may be desirable to place the label tape on top of a supplied label card in order to
achieve a consistent look.

Removing an Outlet Using Outlet Removal Tool (Part of Tool Kit 760122713)
1. Position tool as shown and insert into front of outlet to depress locking tabs.
2. Remove outlet from rear of panel.
