INTRODUCTION
The CP-1000is an electronic control systemwhich is designedto coordinateand operate all of the equipment
associatedwith your spa or swimming pool.
The system iscomprisedof two principalcomponents:the CP-1000 CONTROLLER which is locatedinsideyour
house, andthe LX-1000POWER CENTERwhich islocatedat the poolequipment pad.
The Controllerautomatically controlsand monitorswater temperatureand the timing of allthe poolequipment.
The Power Center provideseasy maintenancefor your Pool Serviceperson.
Additionally,the CP-1000incorporatesimportantsafetyfeatureswhich protectyour poolequipmentfrom
accidentaldamage.
Your system mayalso includeadditional RemoteControls, solar heating, and special optionswhich further add to
the convenience, safety, and economy of operatingyour spa or swimming pool.
SAFETY FEATURES
HEATER PROTECTION:
A built-inelectronic delay circuit automatically runsthe filter pumpfor anadditionalfour minuteswhenever the
system isturned off. This feature enablesthe heater tocooldown, so that the heat exchangerand plumbingare
not damagedfrom overheating.
Fortesting and servicing purposes, it is possibleto overridethis delay circuit by pushingthe DELAY
CANCEL Buttonat the CP-1000 Controller.
POOLCLEANER PROTECTION:
Ifyour system incorporatesa poolcleaner pump, it will have been plumbeddownstreamof the filter pump.
This arrangement requiresthat the filter pump be runningwhenever the pool cleaner is on.
The CP-1000 incorporates the following protectionfeatures against possiblepumpdamage if there is nowater
circulation:
1. The filter pumpwill automatically be activatedwhenever the pool cleaner is running, even if the filter has not
beenswitched on.
2.
Additionally, whenever the pool cleaner isturned on, a built-inelectronic delay circuitwill prevent it from
running until

This additionallyenablesyouto monitorwater temperature
fromthe convenienceof your home.

VALVE OPERATORS:
Your controlsystemis designedto activatean optional motorized solar valve (modelVOR-24),which
automaticallydivertstheflow of water through your solar panelswhenever solar energy is available.
Your system mayalso includeadditionalmotorizedvalvesfor custom hydraulicapplications, such as afountain or
waterfall, or (inlieuof a boosterpump)for your poolcleaner.
TWO SPEED PUMPCON'TROL:
If your system incorporatesatwo speed filter pump, the CP-1000has beendesignedto provideyouwith the
maximum energy-efficientusage of this feature.
Although your Pool Builder may have adjustedthetwo speed control circuitryto your specific requirements, the
CP-1000will typicallyrunthefilter pumpat low speed during normaloperation, but automaticallyswitchthe pump
to highspeed underany of thefollowing conditions:
1.
Forfour minuteswhen thefilter pumpisfirst turned on. This feature establishesproperflow throughthe
system, and packsthe filter grids. After four minutes, the pumpwill automaticallyswitchto low speed.
2. Whenever your solar system isoperating. This provides highflow ratethroughyour solar panelswhich
ensuresthe most efficient usageof the available solar energy.

4. Wheneverthe heater ison. This featurewill conserve energy by bringingthe water uptothe desired
temperature more quickly.
FREEZE PROTECTION:
A recirculatingfreezesensor (model FPS-C) may have beenaddedtoyour controlsystem. It protectsthe
plumbingand equipment from possiblefreeze damage by runningthe filter pumpwhenever thetemperature falls
to approximately41
"
F.
Similarly,an auxiliary pumpfreeze sensor (model FPS-AUX) may be added toactivateauxiliary equipment (such
as afountain or jet pump)duringpotential freezing conditions.
CAUTION: Freezesensors will not provide circulation of water through your solar panels.
Solar freeze protectionmust beaccomplished bydraining the panels. (See below).
SOLAR PANEL DRAINDOWN:
If your controlsystem incorporatessolar heating, it is advisablethat a draindownfeature be added to protect
against possiblefreeze damage.
For conventionalsolar systems which permit gravity drainage of panels,a panel drain-downkit (model PDD-K)
may beadded. This will enable your solar panels toautomatically drainwhenever thefilter pump is not running.
For solar systems with glazed panels, damage can occur from overheatiqgif the solar turns off and thefilter pump
is still running. Inthis instance, adraindownvalve (model HW-SB) should be plumbedat the solar feed line.
This will automaticallydrain your solar panelswhenever the solar isturned off, even if the filter pump is still
running.
This feature mayalso be incorporatedif your solar systemdoes not facilitategravity drainage of panels, or where
panelsare located below poolwater level.
Consult your Solar Company for moredetails.
