Conceptronic CM3PVRD - System Firmware Upgrade Instructions

his system firmware upgrade is only suitable for Conceptronic CM3PVRD.
Note: This system firmware upgrade is not suitable for the Conceptronic CM3PVR, CM3PVR and
CM3PVRN.

B. Upgrade information
A firmware upgrade can improve the performance of your Conceptronic device and can sometimes add new
features.
Periodically firmware upgrades will be available via the official Conceptronic Website.
Conceptronic is not liable for any damages caused by an unofficial, not by Conceptronic approved firmware
for this specific Conceptronic device. Firmware upgrades, even while using official approved firmware, are
always at your own risk.
Installing new firmware without taking the following precautions into account will seriously harm the life
span of your Conceptronic device.
While installing new firmware, make sure the installation procedure is never interrupted.
Interruptions can, amongst others, be caused by:
- turning off the device;
- disconnecting the external USB device or memory card from where the upgrade process was started;
- disconnecting the power supply;
- pressing one or more buttons on the remote control or the device;
- a general power shutdown.
he Conceptronic CM3PVRD can be upgraded in three different ways:
-hrough a USB Storage device (for example: a USB Stick)
-hrough a Memory Card (for example: a SD Card)
-hrough the internal hard disk

C. Upgrade procedure from a USB stick or memory card
1. Copying the firmware file to a USB stick or a memory card
1.1 Connect the USB stick or memory card to your computer.
1.2 Copy the file ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ from the folder ‘Firmware’ to the USB stick or memory card (for
example: ‘F:\TVBOXROM.BIN’ where F:\ is your USB stick or memory card).
Note: Do NOT put the firmware file in a folder on your USB stick or memory card. The CM3PVRD must
‘see’ the firmware file directly on the USB stick or memory card.
For example: ‘F:\TVBOXROM.BIN’.
1.3 Remove the USB stick or memory card from your computer. It is recommended to use the safe
remove/eject/unmount option of your operating system.
1.4 Disconnect the USB stick or memory card from your computer.
2. Upgrading the ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ firmware
2.1 Connect the CM3PVRD to your V and turn it on with the switch on the back.
2.2 Open the latch on the front of the CM3PVRD.
2.3 Connect the USB stick to the USB host port of the CM3PVRD or slide the memory card in the
memory card slot of the CM3PVRD.
2.4 Select the option ‘Movies’ in the main menu of the CM3PVRD.
he CM3PVRD will show the Movie Browser on your screen, with the ‘RECORDS’ folder opened.
2.5 Press the ‘STORAGE’ button on the remote control to switch to ‘USB MODE’ or ‘CARD MODE’
(depending on what you have inserted, a USB Stick or a memory card).
2.6 Select the file ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ and press the ‘ENTER’ button on the remote control.
2.7 he CM3PVRD will show a ‘Smart Upgrade’ pop-up on your screen. Select ‘OK’ and press the
‘ENTER’ button on the remote control to start the firmware upgrade of your CM3PVRD.
Note: If the message ‘Invalid Firmware’ is shown, this means you have got a firmware version which
is not compatible with the CM3PVRD.
Note: The CM3PVRD must NOT be turned off during the upgrade process. Doing so will result in an
unusable product. The same applies for removing the USB stick or memory card.
As soon as the upgrade process is completed, the CM3PVRD will reboot and return to the main menu.

D. Upgrade procedure from the internal hard disk of the CM3PVRD
1. Copying the firmware file to the CM3PVRD
1.1 Connect the CM3PVRD to your computer with the USB cable.
1.2 Copy the file ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ from the folder ‘Firmware’ to the hard disk (for example:
‘F:\TVBOXROM.BIN’ where F:\ is your CM3PVRD).
1.3 Remove the CM3PVRD from your computer. It is recommended to use the safe
remove/eject/unmount option of your operating system.
1.4 Disconnect the USB cable of the CM3PVRD and turn the CM3PVRD off with the switch on the back
side.
2. Upgrading the ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ firmware
2.1 Connect the CM3PVRD to your V and turn it on with the switch on the back.
2.2 Select the option ‘Movies’ in the main menu of the CM3PVRD.
he CM3PVRD will show the Movie Browser on your screen, with the ‘RECORDS’ folder opened.
2.3 Select ‘C:/’ in the top of the Movie Browser.
2.4 Select the file ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ and press the ‘ENTER’ button on the remote control.
2.5 he CM3PVRD will show a ‘Smart Upgrade’ pop-up on your screen. Select ‘OK’ and press the
‘ENTER’ button on the remote control to start the firmware upgrade of your CM3PVRD.
Note: If the message ‘Invalid Firmware’ is shown, this means you have got a version which is not
compatible with the CM3PVRD.

3. Removing the firmware file from your hard disk
3.1 urn the CM3PVRD on with the switch on the back.
3.2 Select the option ‘Movies’ in the main menu of the CM3PVRD.
he CM3PVRD will show the Movie Browser on your screen, with the ‘RECORDS’ folder opened.
3.3 Select ‘C:/’ on top of the Movie Browser.
3.4 Select the file ‘TVBOXROM.BIN’ and press the ‘EDIT’ button on the remote control.
3.5 Select ‘DELETE’ in the onscreen menu and press the ‘ENTER’ button on the remote control.
3.6 he CM3PVRD will ask if you are sure to delete the file. Select ‘Yes’ and press the ‘ENTER’ button
on the remote control. he firmware file will now be erased from your hard disk.

E. Checking the system firmware version of the CM3PVRD
1.1 Connect the CM3PVRD to your V and turn the CM3PVRD on with the switch on the back.
1.2 When the CM3PVRD is in the main menu, press ‘RECORD’ – ‘0’ – ‘0’ – ‘0’ (zero) on the remote
control.
he CM3PVRD will show the Device Information screen where you can see the current system firmware
version of the CM3PVRD. his should be:
- VER: PVRD-022
1.3 Press the ‘ENTER’ button on the remote control to return to the CM3PVRD main menu.
Note: After the upgrade, it is possible some of the system settings have changed. There are three
options that could have been changed:
- Video output : no image or wrong colors
- TV system : no image or wrong colors
- System language : system language is German instead of the chosen language
To change the video output, make sure the TV is set to the correct input and turn on the
CM3PVRD. Wait 1 minute for the CM3PVRD to completely start up and then press the ‘OUTPUT’
button on the remote control to switch between the video outputs. It might be needed to press
the ‘OUTPUT’ button multiple times, but wait for 5 to 10 seconds between each press to let the
TV and the CM3PVRD adjust themselves to the new signal.
To change the TV system, press ‘7’ or ‘SETUP’ on the remote control while in the main menu to
enter the Setup menu. Then select ‘Video’ and ‘TV S stem’ and select the TV system that your
country and TV require.
To change the system language, press ‘7’ or ‘SETUP’ on the remote control while in the main
menu to enter the Setup menu. Then select “Allgemein” and “S s.Sprache” and select the
language of your preference.
