Rechargeable Carpet Sweeper 8897 Instructions
Please read this instruction manual carefully before using the
appliance and save it for future reference.

Warnings
1. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid and do not wash it
under the tap
2. Before connecting the appliance to a power source, ensure the correct voltage
indicated on adaptor corresponds.
3. Do not use the appliance if the adaptor, power cord or the appliance is
damaged
4. The adaptor contains a transformer and must not be replaced with any
another plug.
5. Children should be supervised. This is not a toy.
6. Do not pick up water, liquids or wet food. Do not pick up flammable
substances or ashes.
7. Keep hands or fingers away from the rotating roller brush.
8. Do not use the appliance over a power cord as it may cause damage.
9. Do Not use the appliance outdoors.
10. Turn off the power after use, before charging, connecting or disconnecting
parts, or maintenance
11. Only use the adaptor supplied to charge the appliance
12. It’s normal if the adaptor feels warm during charging, but if it becomes very
hot, unplug and discontinue use immediately.
Preparing for use
1.Connect the lower handle, handle joint and upper
handle to the appliance as shown in the photo. Ensure
the joint is fitted so that it bends towards the user.
2. Before first use, fully charge the appliance for at least
12 hours. This will help prolong the battery life.
Charging
• Charge the appliance when the roller brush doesn’t turn as fast as usual.
Charge the appliance for 10-12 hours each time.
• For best performance of the battery, do not charge the appliance after every
use. Only charge the appliance when the battery power is low (i.e. when the
roller brush doesn’t turn as fast as usual).
1. Switch off the appliance before charging it.
2. Place the handle in upright position.
3. Insert the plug pin of adaptor into the socket on
sweeper base.
4. Plug adaptor into the mains power.
Note: During charging, the charging light is red, after
full charging, the charging light becomes green. As long
as the appliance is still connected to the mains power,
the charging light will not go out until the plug is
disconnected.
Note: the sweeper will not work while charging.
To use the sweeper
1. To unlock the handle from its upright position pull the
handle towards yourself. Don’t put your foot on the
on/off button or dust bin release button.
2. Press on/off button to switch on the appliance. To
switch off the appliance, press on/off button again
3. Use the side brushes to clean the floor along the
walls
4. To bend the handle, press the button on the upper
handle.
Clean areas under furniture without bending your back.
5. To use the sweeper as a handheld appliance, remove the lower handle and
hold the sweeper by the attached appliance handle.
For better grip, push the handle towards the front of the appliance
until it is at a 45° to the base.

Cleaning
Do not clean the appliance or any parts in water or in
the dishwater.
1. Disconnect the appliance from the power before you
cleaning.
2. Clean the appliance and parts with a damp cloth or
soft brush.
3. Use a small pair of scissors to cut away hairs or
thread from the roller brushes.
Emptying the dust container
1. Empty the dust container after each use.
2. Place the handle in the upright position.
3. Press the dust container release button and lift the
dust container out of the sweeper base.
4. Hold dust container over the rubbish bin , then press
the release button on the lower handle downwards to
open the dust container door and empty.
5. Place the dust container back into the sweeper base
and push it down into position.
6. The dust container door closes automatically when
you put the dust container back into the sweeper base.
Cleaning the roller brush
1. Switch off the appliance before you clean the roller
brush.
2. Use a pair of scissors to cut the hairs, threads etc.
that have collected around the roller brush.
3. Remove fluff, hairs and other dirt from the roller
brush.
Note: if you are unable to clean the roller brush
properly in this way, you can remove it for more
thorough cleaning. See sections removing the roller
brush and reinserting the roller brush.
Removing the roller brush
1. To remove the handle, press the release button on the
lower handle and pull the handle upwards.
2. Turn the sweeper base upside down, push the
retainer release button and remove the retainer.
3. Slip the belt off the end of roller brush and lift the
roller brush out of the base.
4. Remove fluff, hairs and other dirt from the roller
brush.
Reinserting the roller brush
1. Slip the belt over the ribbed end of the roller brush.
Insert the other end of the roller brush into the slot
opposite the belt.
2. Insert the end of the roller brush with the belt into
the other slot. Don’t force the roller brush into the
slot. Rotate the roller brush so that the ridge on the
side with the belt points upwards.
3. Put the retainer back into the slot and slide the
release slide to its original position.
If the roller brush is not properly inserted, you
can’t move the release slide to locked position.
Check carefully before use.
PACKAGING:
• Dispose of the packaging at your local recycling centre.
• Dispose of paper and carton separately from plastic bags at your local recycling
centre.
• Dispose of the item at the end of its lifespan at your local authorised
household waste recycling centre.
Troubleshooting
Problem Possible cause Solution

The appliance has a short operating time You have not charged the battery Discharge the battery completely, let the appliance
in the optimal way run until it stops, then recharge the battery for
10-12 hours. Repeat this discharge-charge cycle a
few times
