Notice Before Setup the DES-1050G
The setup of the Switch can be performed using the following steps:
A. Install the DES-1050G in a fairly cool and dry place. See Technical Specications for the acceptable
operation temperature and humidity ranges.
B. Install the Switch in a site free from strong electromagnetic source, vibration, dust, and direct sunlight.
C. Leave at least 10cm of space at the left and right hand side of the Switch for ventilation.
D. Visually inspect the power cable and ensure that it is rmly inserted into a suitable power outlet.
Installation
Desktop or Shelf Installation Rack Installation
When installing the Switch on a desktop or shelf,
the rubber feet included with the device must be
rst attached. Attach these cushioning feet on
the bottom at each corner of the device. Allow
enough ventilation space between the device and
the objects around it.
The Switch can be mounted in an EIA standard
size, 19-inch rack, which can be placed in a
wiring closet with other equipment. To install,
attach the mounting brackets on the switch’s
front panel (one on each side) and secure them
with the screws provided.
Then, use the screws provided with the
equipment rack to mount the Switch in the rack.

The LED Indicators will allow you to monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot any potential problem with the
switch, connection or attached devices.
A. Power
This indicator lights green when the Switch is receiving power, otherwise, it is o.
B. Link / Act
These LED indicators are lighted up when there is a secure connection (or link) to any ports.
The LED indicators blink whenever there is reception or transmission (i.e. Activity--Act) of data occurring at
a port.
C. 10/100Mbps ports
When the LED light on, the respective port is connected to a 10/100Mbps Ethernet network.
D. 1000Mbps
When the LED is green, the respective port is connected to a Gigabit Ethernet network.
A. Power
The Switch can be used with AC power sources 100 - 240 VAC, 50 - 60 Hz. The Switch’s power supply will
adjust to the local power source automatically and may be turned on without having any or all LAN segment
cables connected.
B. Ethernet Ports
These ports support network speeds of 10Mbps, 100Mbps or 1000Mbps, and can operate in half- and full-
duplex transfer modes. These ports also support automatic MDI/MDIX crossover detection, which gives the
Switch true,“plug and play”capabilities. Just connect any network cable between the Switch and the device,
and The Switch will automatically detect the settings of the device and adjust itself accordingly.
