suant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protecon against
harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment
generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance
with the instrucon manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communicaons. Operaon of
this equipment in a residenal area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will
be required to correct the interference at his own expense.
Appropriate Use
The DDF4820HDV-DN-IM (in-ceiling mount variant) is a 3-megapixel HD network
camera built into a vandal-resistant (IK10) dome enclosure.
It is exclusively designed for indoor installaons in suspended ceilings or drywall
(plasterboard) systems and can be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet, Class 0,
IEEE 802.3af) or supplied with 12 V DC (separate power supply unit required).
NOTICE
The DDF4820HDV-DN-IM is exclusively designed for
indoor installaons.
An outdoor installaon is prohibited and may result in
malfuncon, damage, data loss and loss of warranty.

6 Requirements
General
Unfavourable local condions may shorten the life of the product and may cause
malfuncons or damages.
Do not install/operate the device in places
• with a large amount of dust and dirt,
• with steam or oil vapours (e.g. kitchen),
• with direct sunlight,
• with strong heat emissions (e.g. radiator),
• with improper ambient temperatures,
• near sources with strong radiaon (e.g. radio transmiers, magnec elds),
• with corrosive surroundings (e.g. gases, salt water),
• with insucient air venlaon (e.g. closed cabinet).
Operaon
Observe the following notes for the operaon of the device:
• The device can be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet, Class 0, IEEE 802.3af)
or supplied with a separate 12 V DC power supply unit.
However, always beware not to use both power sources simultaneously.
• Always ensure the correct polarity when using a separate 12 V DC power supply
unit.

www.dallmeier.com 13
Commissioning DDF4820HDV-DN-IM
• Always disconnect the separate 12 V DC power supply unit from the mains
socket (pull out the power plug) before connecng or disconnecng the device.
• In order to comply with UL’s requirements, always use a UL-cered, Limited
Power Source (LPS) Class 2 power supply unit when operang the device with a
separate 12 V DC power supply unit.
• When using a separate 12 V DC power supply unit, interference caused by a
ground loop may occur in the analog video preview signal. In this case, use a
video signal transformer (balun) for galvanic (ground) isolaon between the
signal source (camera) and the RG-59 cable.
• If the device or the cables connected to the device are located near sources
with strong radiaon, the video image may be distorted.
• The device is equipped with automac gain control (AGC). In low light condi-
ons the image may be altered (e.g. noise). However, this is not a camera
malfuncon.
• The quality of the video image depends on the lighng condions and the used
monitor.
• The accuracy of the automac white balance (AWB) algorithm depends on the
used lighng. Mixed light (consisng of arcial light and daylight) may cause
color distorons (inaccurate color reproducon).
• Poor lighng can lead to an incorrect white balance.

(concrete/brick)
• Toggle bolt style anchors for drywall / hollow
wall type (plaster)
Electric shock hazard
Danger of death or serious injury
➡Always disconnect the PoE switch or the separate
power supply unit from the mains socket (pull out
