Features
Denon’s Passionate Craftsmanship to Pure Audio
in an LP-sized Chassis for Serious Music Lovers
The CX concept represents an amalgamation of “Simple & Compact Rened Design”, “Denon Hi-Fi Craftsmanship”, and
“Denon Professional Manufacturing Technology”.
The RCD-CX1 inherits its amplier circuit, power circuit, CD mechanism, and audio circuit from the high-end
CX1 series and provides them in a compact unit for ardent music lovers.
Super Audio CD Receiver RCD-CX1
• Powerful amplifier circuit, providingsuperior speedand rich musical expression
The amplifier circuit of the DRA-CX3 with its high power conversion efficiency of 90% has been
used in the RCD-CX1 as well. Despite the built-in CD player and compact enclosure, the RCD-
CX1 is capable of high-power output of 75W + 75W (4) to ensure outstanding speaker drive
performance. It very capably drives the Denon SC-CX101, a compact Hi-Fi speaker system. The
RCD-CX1’s powerful amplifier circuit gives you a rich, satisfying musical sound.
• Robust power circuit, with ample support for sudden sound bursts
The RCD-CX1’s power circuit supplies sufficient, stable current even when demand peaks
instantaneously. Highly efficient, stable current supply has been made possible by a Denon-
developed control system. Sudden bursts of sound such as cymbal claps are reproduced with
realistic clarity.
• Thoroughly vibration-resistant construction
From the power supply board, power and preamp board, the CD mechanism with triple-layer
construction, to the chassis that contains these and all the other elements, the construction of the RCD-
CX1 is thoroughly vibration-resistant to ensure that vibration does not adversely affect the sound.
This construction allows the RCD-CX1 to accurately reproduce each individual sound of the original
recording on the disc.
• Short signal paths, to minimize signal degradation
Denon’s aim is to reproduce the original sound with complete delity and allow listeners to enjoy
the artist’s musical expression as it was heard on the day of recording. This has been Denon’s
ideal ever since its beginning as a manufacturer of audio components whose job today is to read
audio signals from the disc, amplify them, and send them to the speakers. The shorter the signal
path from disc to speakers, the easier it is to faithfully reproduce the original sound, free of noise.
This principle of “Simple & Straight” is strictly implemented in the RCD-CX1 to give you a clean,
transparent sound.

• Advanced S.V.H. (Suppress Vibration Hybrid) Mechanism
To ensure impeccable accuracy in reading audio signals from
the disc, particular attention has been devoted to the design
and adjustment of the optical axis and base that supports the
laser pickup so that they are perfectly aligned. The RCD-CX1
incorporates a highly-acclaimed S.V.H.(Suppress. Vibration.
Hybrid.) loader that features a hybrid construction combining
multiple types of materials to suppress vibration and further
improve disc reading accuracy. The rened design includes a
thin disc tray: Try opening and closing it to see how smooth
and precise the loading mechanism is.
• Enjoy various music media in high-quality sound
The RCD-CX1 provides a dedicated control terminal for the
separately-available Denon Control Dock for iPod®s that lets
you connect and play music from your iPod. The RCD-CX1’s
remote control unit lets you perform iPod operations such
as Play and Skip. Music of various kinds can also be enjoyed
with the RCD-CX1’s AM/FM tuner.
• Newly-developed, easy-to-use remote control unit
The buttons have been laid out so that the various functions of
the amp and CD are easy to operate.
• Simple and intuitive operation
- Direct Power On: Power turns on automatically when the CD
Play button is pressed while power is o.
- Fade Out: If you switch to FM radio or another sound
source while listening to a CD, the sound from the CD will
automatically fade before the switch is made.
Speaker System SC-CX101
• 12cm woofer unit with newly-developed glass ber
D.D.L. cone
The newly-developed D.D.L. (Denon Double Layer) cone has
been used for the woofer diaphragm. This diaphragm with
dual-layer construction ensures accurate piston motion across
a wide frequency range. Combined with an advanced magnetic
circuit and an aluminum shorting ring to reduce magnetic
distortion, this speaker system produces a big, spacious sound that
is remarkable from such a compact speaker cabinet.
• 2.5cm dome tweeter with specialized frame shape
Denon developed a new frame shape to flatten radiation
impedance. This also prevents diaphragm deformation caused
by the thermal expansion of air inside the tweeter. The addition
of ventilation holes keeps the diaphragm centered and ensures
constantly ideal piston motion.
• Crossover network,
for uniform sound pressure and phase response
The SC-CX101’s network circuitry has been designed not only
for the unit’s energy and phase characteristics, but cabinet
reflection and placement conditions in the room have been
considered as well. In addition to attening on-axis frequency
response, the network design has also provides smooth o-axis
response as well.
• A pleasing harmony between technology
and aesthetics
The SC-CX101 has been jointly developed by Denon engineers
and European sound designers with deep experience in music.
Elaborate computer simulations were conducted to model
the basic design as much as possible from the individual
parts level and achieve a high standard of perfection in basic
characteristics.
• Unit frame made of non-magnetic die-cast aluminum
Non-magnetic die-castaluminum has been used for the unit frame
to give it solid supportandprevent diaphragm movement.
A baking nish has been given to the surfacetominimize squeal.
• Beautiful natural wood-grain veneer cabinet
The SC-CX101’s cabinet, built with 18mm MDF and finished
with a semi-gloss natural wood-grain veneer, is extremely
beautiful. Not only is the natural wood finish pleasing to the
eyes, the surface that transmits the sound waves has been
carefully controlled to produce a beautifully resonant sound.
The natural wood nish has also been applied to the interior to
control overall resonance.
• Rear duct, for a clear, deep bass
The rear panel has been carefully machined to produce a uniform
construction with the mouth of the duct. The nish has also been
meticulously applied to minimize squeal and port noise.
• Gold-plated brass bi-wiring ports
The SC-CX101 speakers provide large bi-wiring ports with high-
grade transparent insulating covers to expand your audio
enjoyment.
