Ceiling Heater
FFCH5000W Series
WARNING: Wiring procedures and connections should
be in accordance with the National Electric code (NEC &
CEC) and local codes.
CAUTION: This heater is intended for permanent ceiling
mounting only.
!NOTE: The heater has thermal cut-off protection. If the
thermal cut-off protection trips, de-energize the unit.
The unit should reset automatically after 10 minutes. If
the thermal cut-off protection trips again, determine the
reason for overheating.
!NOTE: A thermostat control (customer supplied) is re-
quired to operate this unit.
Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock
and injury to person, including the following:
Read all instructions before using this heater.1.
This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let2.
bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles
when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials
such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothing and
curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) away from front, sides and
rear of the heater.
Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used3.
by or near children or individuals with disabilities and
whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
Always turn off heater when not in use.4.
Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug5.
or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or
damaged in any manner.
Do not use outdoors.6.
Do not install less than 2.4 m (8 feet) from the oor and 7.
closer than 30.5 cm (12 inches) from any vertical surface
or walls.
This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry8.
or similar locations. Never locate heater where it may fall
into a bathtub or water.
Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventila-9.
tion or exhaust openings. Do not block any ventilation or
exhaust openings.
A heater may emit arcing or sparking inside the unit.10.
Do not use in areas where gasoline, paint or ammable
liquids are used or stored.
Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any11.
other use not recommended by the manufacturer may
cause re, electric shock or injury to persons.
This heater is not intended for use with an extension12.
cord.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Loosen the 4 screws to remove the grille box of the unit.1.
Loosen 1 screw to remove the mounting bracket.2.
Keep the unit at least 2.4m (8 ft.) away from the oor. 3.
This minimum distance must be maintained. (Figure 1)
Once the mounting position is decided, mark the drill-4.
hole positions in the ceiling for the mounting bracket.
Drill the required holes with the correct diameter bit5.
for the anchors provided for positioning the mounting
bracket.
Insert the anchors.6.
Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling and secure7.
with mounting screws.
Loosen 2 screws to remove the wiring compartment8.
cover.
Hook the unit to the mounting bracket and let the unit9.
hang from the mounting bracket. (Figure 3)
Run the electrical supply cable to the wiring compartment10.
of the unit. Connect the grounded wire to the grounding
screw and connect the electrical wires with provided wire
connectors. (Figure 2)

Warranty
The Manufacturer warrants the heating elements and components of the
enclosed product against any defect in material or workmanship for a period
of one year from the date of purchase. In full satisfaction of any claims
under this Warranty the Manufacturer will repair or replace without charge, in
its factory or in the eld as it alone may decide, any parts which in its opinion
are defective.
The Manufacturer shall not be responsible for any transportation or shipping
costs in relation to such repair or replacement except as specically
assumed by it. Misuse of this product or repairs by persons other than the
Manufacturer’s authorized personnel without the Manufacturer’s written
approval, will void this Warranty.
This Warranty is in lieu of all other warranties or conditions whether
expressed or implied including but not limited to those of merchantability or
tness for purpose and shall constitute the sole remedy of the Purchaser
and the sole liability of the Manufacturer in respect of the sale of the product,
whether in the nature of breach or breach of fundamental term, or of
negligence or otherwise.
The Manufacturer shall not be liable for any special, indirect or consequential
damages or for any damages resulting from removal or replacement of a
heater subject to warranty claim without the Manufacturer’s authorization.
This Warranty is transferable by the original consumer purchaser of the
product. Any claims under this Warranty must be submitted in writing to
the Service Manager, Dimplex North America Ltd., 1367 Industrial Rd.,
Cambridge, Ontario N1R 7G8, Canada.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of re or electric shock,
always switch off the unit and wait 10 minutes to allow it
to cool before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. It
is recommended that the heater is cleaned periodically, in
order to avoid dust blocking the grille or ventilation.
Once the heater is de-energized and has cooled down,
remove the outer cover and wipe the unit with a soft, damp
cloth. Gently clean the blades of the fan to remove any build
up of dirt.
!NOTE: Do not use abrasive cleaners or spray liquids on
the unit surfaces.
CAUTION: Make sure to reinstall the cover on the unit in
order to protect the heating element against dust and dirt.
WARNING: The user can perform cleaning ONLY. All
other servicing should be performed by qualied service
personnel.
Maintenance
The unit will turn On and Off based on the setting of the
installed thermostat. There is a toggle switch located on
the unit, which allows for two different modes of operation
(Figure 4):
Fan Only - When the thermostat signals the unit to turn•
on the fan will circulate the air.
Heater & Fan - When the thermostat signals the unit to•
turn on both the fan and the heater will be activated and
a pilot light will illuminate, beside the switch on the unit.
Operation
Replace the wiring compartment cover and lock in place11.
with 2 screws.
Secure the unit to the bracket with screw.12.
Replace the grille box and secure with screws.13.
