Introduction
DB3 is an all-in-one door lock and override module. This guide supports the installation of a DB3 in Remote
Start Ready (RSR) mode. This solution may offer up to three (3) configuration options to control your system: 3x
OEM Lock Remote Start Activation (if applicable, refer to the “Vehicle function compatibilities” below), RF System
or SmartStart (all sold separately).

This module can only be flashed and configured using DirectLink at www.directechs.com or using the Directechs
Mobile application for smartphones. Refer to “Connecting the module” for more information.

START HERE This section highlights important information for this specific firmware and will assist in pricing accordingly, as
well as bringing awareness to any operational or vehicle limitations.
Compatibilities and Requirements

Vehicle Takeover Not available on Push-to-Start vehicles. The engine will stop when a door is open.
Firmware notes
Motorized Hatch: This feature needs to be enabled if available on your vehicle using the configuration tool found on the module
flashing page of www.directechs.com, or manual configuration of this feature is also possible. Refer to "Feature programming" for
more information.
Trunk release: Not covered with RSR installations.
Remote starting: all doors must be closed and locked.
OEM Remote starter: If the vehicle is already equipped with an OEM remote starter, the installer must disconnect it before installing
the DB3 otherwise it will not program. (For more information see "OEM remote starter detection").
Remote Start Ready (RSR) installations are not compatible with vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
Remote Start Ready (RSR) is a function that enables the interface module to remote start the vehicle completely on its own.
Consequently, there is no need for an aftermarket or an OEM remote starter in order to start the vehicle from a distance.
SmartStart Compatible: SmartStart is equipped with D2D, which means it can be connected to an interface module and used in
Remote Start Ready (RSR) mode without the use of a remote starter. See "Module programming" for more information.
All connectors are displayed from the wire side (unless specified otherwise).
Refer to the "Vehicle connections" following the installation diagram.

[1] Hood pin: The installation of an aftermarket hood pin is only required on vehicles that are not equipped with a factory hood pin or if
not supported in data.

[4] Telematics interrupt: Depending on the production date of your vehicle, if remote start fails, a "Telematics Interrupt" connection may

Module programming
Refer to “LED diagnostics and troubleshooting” for more information and for troubleshooting purposes.
For Convenience-Only programming, see next section.
1Ensure vehicle is in a safe location and cannot move forward during programming.

The harnesses must be connected in this exact order:
 1. Connect the 14-pin.
 2. Connect the 12-pin.
 3. Connect the 10-pin.
When the LED turns ON solid red, proceed with the next step.
3Press the Push-to-Start (PTS) button twice (2) to turn the ignition ON.
The LED will flash orange for 3 seconds.
4Wait for the LED to turn ON solid orange.
5Press the PTS button once (1) more to turn the ignition OFF, then twice(2) to turn it back ON.
The LED flashes green then orange.
6Press the PTS button once(1) more to turn the ignition OFF.
7Close all doors including trunk/tailgate then press Lock on the OEM remote.
Wait two (2) seconds then press unlock.
The LED turns ON solid green for 3 seconds then shuts OFF.
You have successfully completed the module programming sequence.
