Gauge
The gauge is only intended for use with a pump. When the filter is new, the
gauge will display the fluid pressure before the filter. As the P574959 filter loads
with contamination, this pressure will gradually increase. The filter should
be replaced when the flow pressure exceeds 25psi, or reaches the maximum
pressure of the delivery pump, whichever is lower, or when the flow rate
becomes unacceptably slow.
Note: Pressure should be read while fluid is flowing, to give a true indication of
the filter condition.
NOTE: If a significant volume of water is present in the fuel, the filter may rapidly display an increase in pressure. As the
filter will not allow any free water to pass, it may reach capacity in a short period of time. In this event, the tank should
be inspected for a significant volume of water. Any water found should be manually drained or syphoned from the tank.
Install a new P574959 filter after this process has been completed.

Breather
A Donaldson T.R.A.P. (Thermally Reactive Advanced Protection) breather filter
is supplied and should be installed on the air breathing vent for the tank, with all
other outlets sealed against air leakage.
Incoming air into a tank is known as a major source of contamination. The TRAP
breather, with its 3um particulate performance, will also strip moisture from
inflowing air, and will greatly reduce contamination in your fuel.
1. Check the filter service
indicator.
Check to see that the indicator
shows that the filter is due for servicing,
or at a maximum of 1 year of use,
whichever occurs first
.
2.Turn system off and release
pressure.
Ensure fuel system is turned
off. Check there is no pressure
present.
3. Unscrew and remove old filter
and gasket.
Properly dispose or recycle
the filter as required by local
regulations.
4. Wipe filter head with
clean cloth.
Clean the filter head surfaces
when performing a filter change.
Use a clean cloth.
5. Inspect the new filter
for damage.
Check the new filter you will be installing
for any damage.
Do not install a dented filter as the canister
has been weakened.
6. Lubricate the threads.
Lubricate threads of filter head
with clean oil or fuel.
Failure to do this could result
in thread galling.
7. Apply thin film of
clean motor oil or fuel to
gasket.
Lubricate seal(s) with clean oil.
8. Align threads. Spin
filter until gasket
contacts.
Spin the new filter on until the top of
the gasket first contacts the sealing
surface.
9. Hand tighten the
filter.
Tighten per the guidance of the icons
which appear on the filter element.
Do not over-tighten.

Filter Installation & Servicing Guide
Note: For gravity fed systems, where no pump is used, the gauge should not be used as it may not indicate any significant pressure. Gravity
will provide only approx. 1psi for every 1m of head height of the tank above the filter. For gravity fed systems, we recommend replacing the
P574959 filter when the flow rate becomes unacceptably slow, or at a maximum of 1 year of use, whichever occurs first.
