Electrical Safety
This product is only operable when using battery supplied power.Using
other power sources may cause harmful conditions and will void all guar-
antees for this product.
In-ight Safety
As this product may interfere with operation of in-ight navigation system
and navigation system communication networks, usage of this product in
an aircraft is prohibited by law in several countries.If by law permits you
using this product in an aircraft, please switch to In-ight Mode to turnoff
radio wave transmissions.
Environmental Restrictions
Do not use this product at a gas station or refueling station. Usage of this
product is also prohibited at fuel storages, chemical factories, and loca-
tions with explosives.
Environmental Safety
Do not use this product in the following locations: gas station, fuel stor-
ages, chemical factories, demolition worksites, potentially hazardous ex-
plosive locations such as fuel area under ship holds, transport and stor-
age of fuel or chemical substance facilities, or locations with particles,
dust, metal dust, chemical substances etc in the air. Please remember
that sparks in these environments can cause explosions or re hazards
resulting in human casualties.
Road Safety
Unless in an emergency, drivers in moving vehicles are prohibited from
using hand held equipments for calls. It is permitted for drivers in moving
vehicles to use hands-free devices for calls. Usage of this product may
interfere with normal operations of medical instruments. Many hospitals
and clinics prohibit use of these equipments.
Non-Ionic Radiation
To ensure efciency of radio wave transmission and reduce interference,
user should operate this product under the recommended normal envi-
ronments. As with other similar mobile wireless communication equip-
ments, in order to comply with required operations and for the safety of
the users, it is recommended that the user maintains a safe distance
from the antenna during the operation of the equipment.

As the LCD display on the handheld product is made up of high precision
components, possible lit or dark pixels (Note) appearing on the display
screen is a common occurrence from the product manufacturing pro-
cess.If your purchased product meets the following conditions, you may
request replacement of the LCD display module within seven days from
the purchase date
1. Total count of three or more malfunctioning pixels (lit or dark); or
2. Any two malfunctioning pixels (lit or dark) within 5mm of each other.
Lit Pixels: blue, red, white, or green dots on specic locations of LCD screen.
Dark Pixel: black dot on specic locations of the LCD screen.

Page Format
Generally, each page is separated into up-
per and lower areas, regardless of the left
or right half of the page. Browsing is made
from left to right and then from up to down
in a Z shape, continuing on the next page.
There are small red boxes on the outer
edge of the contents page to assist you in
finding specific chapter topics.
Topic Format
The beginning of each topic always starts
with the page on the right.Thetopic (first)
page will explain what functions are cov-

1Left LED
Indicator
The left LED indicates the WiFi and Bluetooth.
A blinking Blue light stands for Bluetooth system notica-
tion of "activated" and "ready to transmit radio frequency"
signal. A blinking Green light for WiFi status.
* When both Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled, the lights
blink alternately.
2Microphone Speak into the microphone when receiving or making a
phone call or voice recording.
3Right LED
Indicator
Right LED in green and amber lights for UMTS/GSM
standby, notification, network status as well as battery
charging status
4Touch Screen Tap the screen with the stylus to write, draw, or make a
selection.
5Shortcut
Button
Press the left/rigth shortcut button to execute the com-
mand shown in the label above the button.
6TALK Button Press to answer an incoming call or dial a number.

Press this multi-directional control up, down, left, or right
to move through menus and program instructions; carry
out the selection by pressing the center button.
9OK Button
Press to confirm your data entries, or to exit the pro-
gram in use.OK button and the "OK" icon at the right up
screen have the same functionality
10 End Button Press to end a call or to return to the Today screen.
11 Second Cam-
era
Use this camera for taking self portraits and video call
conversations.
12 Jog Wheel
While on the Today screen or using applications, scroll
up or down to navigate through menus, program instruc-
tions; press the wheel to carry out a selection. During a
call or while playing music, scroll up or down to adjust
the sound volume.

13 OK Button Press to confirm your data entries, or to exit the
program in use.
14 Main Camera Use the main camera to take still photos and record
video clips.
15 Car Antenna
Connector
Connect your device to the car antenna while in a car
to have better reception quality.
16 Back Cover Slide out to access the battery compartment and SIM
card.
17 POWER Button
Press shortly to switches your device to Sleep mode.
You can still receive calls and messages when your
device is in Sleep mode.Press and hold (for about 5
seconds) to turn off the power completely. All functions
including the phone will not be available for use.
18 VOICE COM-
MAND Button
Press to start Voice Speed Dial; press and hold to re-
cord a voice note.
19 Mini SD Card
Slot
In this card slot, insert a Mini SD memory card for
storing data, or insert a Mini SD input/output card,
such as a network card.
20 Camera Button Use the camera to take still photos and record video
clips.
21 Stylus Use the stylus to write, draw, or select items on the
touch screen.
22 Strap Holder It lets you attach a strap for carrying your device.
23 Sync Connector/
Earphone Jack
Use this connector to synchronize data by connecting
the provided USB Sync. cable or to recharge the bat-
tery via the provided AC adapter.You can also connect
the provided USB stereo headset for hands-free con-
versation or for listening to FM radio and audio media.
FM radio uses the stereo headset as an antenna.
24 Reset Button With the stylus, press the RESET button to soft-reset
your device.
25 Infrared Port It lets you exchange le(s) or data with other devices
wirelessly.
26 Microphone Speak into the microphone when receiving or making
a phone call or voice recording.

1.2 About the USIM/SIM Card and Battery
Always turn off your device before installing/replacing the battery and
SIM card.Follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide to install a SIM
(Subscriber Identity Module) card provided by your local network service
provider and to install the battery.
The SIM card contains your phone number,service details,and phone-
book/message memory.Your device supports both 1.8V and 3V SIM
cards.For some legacy SIM cards will not function within your device.You
should consult with your service provider for a replacement SIM card.
There may be fees for this service.
Your device contains a rechargeable Li-ion polymer battery. This device
is designed to use only manufacturer-specied original batteries and ac-
cessories.The Battery performance depends on many factors,including
your wireless service provider’s network conguration, signal strength,
the temperature of the environment in which you operate your device,
the features and/or settings you select and use, items attached to con-
necting ports, and your voice, data, and other program usage patterns.
Battery life estimates (approximations):
Standby time: Up to 200 hours for GSM; up to 250 hours for UMTS.
Talk time (Screen off): Up to 5 hours for GSM; up to 4 hours for UMTS.
Media playback time:Up to 8 hours for WMV; Up to 12 hours for WMA
!Warning!
To reduce risk of fire or burns:
* Do not attempt to open, disassemble, or service the battery pack.
* Do not crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or
water.
* Do not expose to temperatures above 60C (140F).
* Replace only with the battery pack designated for this product.
* Recycle or dispose of used battery as stipulated by local regulation.

New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before you start using your
device, it is recommended that you install and charge the battery. Some bat-
teries perform best after several full charge/discharge cycles. Charge the
battery in two ways:
• Connecting your device directly to an external AC power source.
• Connecting your device to a PC via the provided USB Sync. cable.
!Warning!
• Do not remove the battery from the device while you are charging it
using the AC or car adapter.
• As a safety precaution, the battery stops charging when it overheats.
Charge the Battery
When the low-battery warning appears, do the following:
• Immediately save your current data.
• Synchronize with your PC or connect the power adapter to charge the
battery.
• Turn off your device.

1.3 Learn about the Today screen
The Today screen displays important information, such as upcoming ap-
pointments and status indicators; You can tap a section on the screen to
open the associated program.
To access the Today screen, please select > Today.
If you wish to customize the displayed items, background picture con-
tents etc. on the Home Screen, please select > Settings > Today.
For Today screen setup, please refer to 7.4 Today screen & themes.

When your device is connected to your computer and you enable a
USB connection between them, the USB to PC icon ( ) will ap-
pears on the Today Screen. For more information about USB to
PC, see Device Settings.
Start menu located at the top left corner of the Today screen, displays a
list of programs, recent used program, setttings, and help.After opening
up the Start menu, use the Jog Wheel to scroll up & down to change the
focus; use the NAVIGATOR/ENTER button to select the items with focus;
or by tapping with the stylus.
