Please adhere to the following safety precautions when using this prod-
uct to avoid risk of legal and monetary responsibilities.
Electrical Safety
This product is only operable when using battery supplied power.Using
other power sources may cause harmful conditions and will void all guar-
antees for this product.
In-ight Safety
As this product may interfere with operation of in-ight navigation system
and navigation system communication networks, usage of this product in
an aircraft is prohibited by law in several countries.If by law permits you
using this product in an aircraft, please switch to In-ight Mode to turnoff
radio wave transmissions.
Environmental Restrictions
Do not use this product at a gas station or refueling station. Usage of this
product is also prohibited at fuel storages, chemical factories, and loca-
tions with explosives.
Environmental Safety
Do not use this product in the following locations: gas station, fuel stor-
ages, chemical factories, demolition worksites, potentially hazardous ex-
plosive locations such as fuel area under ship holds, transport and stor-
age of fuel or chemical substance facilities, or locations with particles,
dust, metal dust, chemical substances etc in the air. Please remember
that sparks in these environments can cause explosions or re hazards
resulting in human casualties.
Road Safety
Unless in an emergency, drivers in moving vehicles are prohibited from
using hand held equipments for calls. It is permitted for drivers in moving
vehicles to use hands-free devices for calls. Usage of this product may
interfere with normal operations of medical instruments. Many hospitals
and clinics prohibit use of these equipments.
Non-Ionic Radiation
To ensure efciency of radio wave transmission and reduce interference,
user should operate this product under the recommended normal envi-
ronments. As with other similar mobile wireless communication equip-
ments, in order to comply with required operations and for the safety of
the users, it is recommended that the user maintains a safe distance
from the antenna during the operation of the equipment.

Dopod Defective Pixel Warranty Policy
As the LCD display on the handheld product is made up of high precision
components, possible lit or dark pixels (Note) appearing on the display
screen is a common occurrence from the product manufacturing pro-
cess.If your purchased product meets the following conditions, you may
request replacement of the LCD display module within seven days from
the purchase date
1. Total count of three or more malfunctioning pixels (lit or dark); or
2. Any two malfunctioning pixels (lit or dark) within 5mm of each other.
Lit Pixels: blue, red, white, or green dots on specic locations of LCD screen.
Dark Pixel: black dot on specic locations of the LCD screen.

Page Format
Generally, each page is separated into up-
per and lower areas, regardless of the left
or right half of the page. Browsing is made
from left to right and then from up to down
in a Z shape, continuing on the next page.
There are small red boxes on the outer
edge of the contents page to assist you in
finding specific chapter topics.
Topic Format
The beginning of each topic always starts

3. 1 Using the Phone
When you begin to use the Dopod S300 phone functions, you will need
to enter the SIM card PIN number in order to connect to the GSM mobile
network. When using this device, you can control wireless functions, e.g.
activate/deactivate the phone. You can also adjust the headset volume
anytime during a call or when using the device.
3. 1. 1 Phone Functions
At the Phone screen, you can access, dial, search contacts, or save
phone numbers to the contacts list. Under certain circumstances (such
as on a plane), you may need to turn off the phone functions of the
handset. You can use the Comm Manager to manually deactivate/
activate the phone’s communication functions. When the phone function
is off, you will not be able to receive calls, send/receive messages, or
use GPRS by connecting to a wireless mobile network. But other phone
functions such as browsing the calendar, listening to music, or playing
games can still be used.

1Left LED
Indicator
The left LED indicates the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS
status.
A blinking Blue light stands for Bluetooth system notica-
tion of "activated" and "ready to transmit radio frequency"
signal. A blinking Green light for Wi-Fi status. Amber light
for GPS status.
* When both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled, the lights
blink alternately.
2Right LED
Indicator Right LED in green and amber lights for GSM/GPRS/
EDGE standby, notification, network status as well as
battery charging status
3Touch Screen Tap the screen with the stylus to write, draw, or make a
selection.
4Shortcut
Button Press the left/rigth shortcut button to execute the com-
mand shown in the label above the button.
5TALK Button Press to answer an incoming call or dial a number.

6GPS Button Press to launch the GPS software.
7START Button Press to open the Start menu.
8Track Wheel Turn clockwise or counterclockwise to move through
items on the screen or in a menu. Press the track ball for
conrmation of the selection. When using the Camera or
GPS software, use it for zooming or map navigation.

Roll up, down, left, or right to move through menus and
program instructions; carry out the selection by pressing
the Trackball.
When using the Camera, use it as the shutter release.
When using the GPS software, use it to move around a

mander Button Press to start Voice Commander, or press and hold to
activate the Voice Memo program.
14 Volume Slider Slide up or down to adjust the speaker volume. During
a call, slide up or down to adjust the receiver volume.
15 Reset Button With the stylus, press the RESET button to soft-reset
your device.
16 Car Antenna
Connector
Connect your device to the car antenna while in a car
to have better reception quality.Remove the plastic
cover and connec to the antenna while using.Restore
the plastic cover after using.
17 GPS Antenna
Connector
If you need better GPS signal reception, you can con-
nect an external GPS antenna. Remove the plastic
cover and connec to the antenna while using.Restore
the plastic cover after using.
18 Camera Button Use the camera to take still photos and record video
clips.
19 Self-Portrait
Mirror Turn the back side of your device to face yourself so
that your image reects on the mirror when taking self-
portrait shots.
20 Battery Cover Slide out to access the battery compartment.
21 POWER Button
Press shortly to switches your device to Sleep mode.
You can still receive calls and messages when your
device is in Sleep mode.Press and hold (for about 5
seconds) to turn off the power completely. All functions
including the phone will not be available for use.
22 CAMERA Button Press to launch the Camera. Press again to take a
photo or video clip.
23 Stylus Use the stylus to write, draw, or select items on the
touch screen.
24 Microphone Speak into the microphone when receiving or making
a phone call or voice recording.
25 Sync Connector/
Earphone Jack
Use this connector to synchronize data by connecting
the provided USB Sync. cable or to recharge the bat-
tery via the provided AC adapter.You can also connect
the provided USB stereo headset for hands-free con-
versation or for listening to FM radio and audio media.
FM radio uses the stereo headset as an antenna.
26 Strap Holder It lets you attach a strap for carrying your device.

Press the Send/End button to pick up a call or put a call
on hold; press and hold the button to end the call
Make sure you connect the headset when using the FM
Radio, as the headset also works as antenna.
4Car adapter Use it to charge the battery on your device while you are
traveling in a car. Plug it to the sync connector of your
device and to the car’s cigarette lighter socket.
5Car holder
Use it to mount your device in a car. Press the suction
pedestal on the car’s windshield, and push the lever to
securely attach the holder. Then sit your device in the
holder, and press both sides of the holder inward to se-
cure the grip

1.2 About the SIM Card and Battery
Always turn off your device before installing/replacing the battery and
SIM card.Follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide to install a SIM
(Subscriber Identity Module) card provided by your local network service
provider and to install the battery.
The SIM card contains your phone number,service details,and phone-
book/message memory.Your device supports both 1.8V and 3V SIM
cards.For some legacy SIM cards will not function within your device.You
should consult with your service provider for a replacement SIM card.
There may be fees for this service.
Your device contains a rechargeable Li-ion polymer battery. This device
is designed to use only manufacturer-specied original batteries and ac-
cessories.The Battery performance depends on many factors,including
your wireless service provider’s network conguration, signal strength,
the temperature of the environment in which you operate your device,
the features and/or settings you select and use, items attached to con-
necting ports, and your voice, data, and other program usage patterns.
Battery life estimates (approximations):
Standby time: Up to 150 - 200 hours for GSM.
Talk time (Screen off): Up to 3.5 - 5 hours for GSM.
Media playback time:Up to 8 hours for WMV; Up to 12 hours for WMA
GPS: 4.5 ~ 5 hours
!Warning!
To reduce risk of fire or burns:
* Do not attempt to open, disassemble, or service the battery pack.
* Do not crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or
water.
* Do not expose to temperatures above 60C (140F).
* Replace only with the battery pack designated for this product.
* Recycle or dispose of used battery as stipulated by local regulation.

Getting to Know Your P800W
New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before you start using your
device, it is recommended that you install and charge the battery. Some bat-
teries perform best after several full charge/discharge cycles. Charge the
battery in two ways:
• Connecting your device directly to an external AC power source.
• Connecting your device to a PC via the provided USB Sync. cable.
!Warning!
• Do not remove the battery from the device while you are charging it
using the AC or car adapter.
• As a safety precaution, the battery stops charging when it overheats.
Charge the Battery
When the low-battery warning appears, do the following:
• Immediately save your current data.
• Synchronize with your PC or connect the power adapter to charge the
battery.
• Turn off your device.

1.3 Start Using Your Device
During initial device startup, the system will instruct you on how to use
the quick display function menu, align the screen on your device, and
congure the mobile network.Please follow the onscreen directions.
