smooth pace (4 or more
seconds), and stop without
impact.
2. Door must remainfully open
fora minimum of 5 seconds
before beginning to close.
3. Door shouldclose at a slow,
smooth pace (4 or more
seconds),and stop without
impact.
4. Inspect the oor area. It
should be clean with no
loose parts that might cause
user to trip or fall. Keep
trac path cle ar.
5. Inspect door‘s overall
condition. The appropriate
signageshouldbepresent
and the hardware should
be in good condition.
6. Havedoor inspected by an
AAADM certied inspector
at least annually.

1. Walk toward the door at a
normal pace. The door
shouldopen when you are
about 4 feet from thedo or.
2. Stand motionless on
threshold for at le ast 10
seconds. The door should
not close.
3. Move clear of the area. The
door should remain openfor
at least 1.5seconds an d
should close slowlyand
smoothly.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3
from other directionif door
is used for two way tra c.
