Safety and Usage Guidelines
1. When fitting a Bed Support a risk
assessment should be carried out as to
the suitable of theequipment for the
user, with particular emphasis on the
possibility of entrapment. All areas of
the bed rail have either gap width or depth
less than 120mm with the mattress installed
and compressed with the patient weight.
2. If height adjustment has to be made,
ensure that there is no gap between the
‘E’ clip and frame. The spindle of the ‘E’
clip should fully go through the frame.
3. Ensure the Base Support is firmly
pushed right under the mattress and
the vertical bed rests against the
mattress edge.
4. The Base Support must rest in a
horizontal position and its position
must be checked regularly in line with
the findings of the original risk
assessment.
5. Do not exceed leverage of 22 stone
(140kg).
6. To comply with recommended trapping
area dimensions, the rail is not
recommended for any mattresses less
than 125mm (5”) thickness.
