and make sure that you obey these instrucons. The equipment must only be
operated and maintained by trained personnel in the proper condion and as
described in this instrucon manual.
Obey local and state requirements and regulaons. If you have any quesons about
safety, operaon or maintenance of the device, please contact our nearest subsidiary.
Important safety informaon is highlighted as warning and cauon instrucons. Obey

2. Introducon
The ush kit has been designed for safe and ecient operaon when used properly and
in accordance with these operang instrucons. It is the responsibility of the user to
carefully read and strictly observe all safety precauons described throughout the
operang instrucons.
Deposits may form within the pump chamber of the vacuum pumps during the process.
The ush kit removes these deposits with water or a suitable solvent and ush them out
of the vacuum pump. The ush kit allows the required amount of solvent in the inlet of
the vacuum pump to remove deposions inside the pump.
The ush kit consists of:
▪ Solenoid valve or solenoid valve ATEX or manual valve
▪ Visual owmeter with manually adjustable valve
▪ Non-return valve.
The ush kit is designed for regulaon, automac/manual shut-o and visibility of the
solvent ow in the inlet of the vacuum pump. The solvent ows through a solenoid or
manual valve, a visual owmeter with a manually adjustable valve and a non-return
valve. For the best solvent ush results, we recommend you to install an inlet purge kit
with the ush kit. Refer to Accessories on page 19 for more informaon.
The ush kit is available in three variants:
A. Flush kit / Solenoid valve ATEX
B. Flush kit / Solenoid valve
C. Flush kit / Manual valve
The selecon of the most suitable solvent uid depends on your process medium. Make
sure that the solvent you select is compable with the materials of construcon of the
vacuum pump to prevent damage. The materials of construcon for the dierent parts
of the pump can be found in the respecve instrucon manuals. If in doubt, contact our
customer care centre for advice.

The extremely low pressure at the inlet of the running vacuum pump can cause solvents
to solidify. The extent of the solidicaon depends on the solvent used and pressure at
the inlet of the pump. To get the best cleaning eect, we recommend the solvent that
remains at least partly in the liquid phase inside the pump. This can be achieved by
increasing the inlet pressure of the vacuum pump. To increase the inlet pressure of the
vacuum pump, you can install one of our inlet purge accessories in combinaon with the
ush kit.

4. Installaon
WARNING: DANGEROUS VOLTAGE
Risk of electric shock. Installaon of the ush kit requires proper installaon and
proper operaon of the vacuum pump. Disconnect the mains power supply before
you work on the vacuum pump. Tag out/Lock out to protect against inadvertently
switching on the power supply. The electrical connecons must only be provided by a
trained electrician.
In case of using an ATEX solenoid valve all electrical installaon must be done in
conformance with EN60079-14 and other local regulaons applicable when working
in a potenally explosive atmosphere.
WARNING: HOT SURFACE
Risk of burns. During operaon the pump is hot and some surfaces can reach a
temperature higher than 70 °C. If you install the ush kit under such condions then
there exists the risk of suering burns. Before you install the ush kit, let the vacuum
pump cool down.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Risk of injury. Take a note of the danger symbols on the pump and wear the required
personal protecon equipment. Note the safety informaon given in the operang
instrucons for the vacuum pump. If the pump has been pumping hazardous
substances, then the type of hazard must be determined and suitable protecon
measures must be taken.
Note:
The illustraons in this manual show the installaon of Flush kit / Solenoid valve. The
same procedure is applicable for the remaining two variants.
4.1 Installaon on the pump without canopy
Follow these steps to install the Flush kit / Solenoid valve on your pump:

1. Prepare the Flush kit / Solenoid valve for installaon.
A. Flush kit / Solenoid valve
B. Aach the bracket to the Flush kit / Solenoid valve with the hex head cap
screw
C. Flush kit / Solenoid valve with bracket
Note:
Do not fully ghten the hex head cap screw, so that the bracket posion can
be adjusted.
2. Replace the plug screw with the adapter.
▪ Replace the plug screw adjacent to the pump inlet with the supplied adapter.

3. Install the Flush kit / Solenoid valve on the pump.
▪ Loosen the hex head cap screw by 4 mm to 5 mm on the top cover of the
pump.
▪ Slide the bracket in between the top cover of the pump and the hex head cap
screw.

4. Fit the Non-Return Valve (NRV) to the pump.
▪ Loosen the nut of the NRV so that the NRV ng can rotate freely on the pipe.
Make sure that the nut is not completely removed.
▪ Fit the NRV into the adapter.
▪ Tighten the nut.

4.2 Installaon on the pump with canopy (for EDS200 and EDS300
pumps)
Follow these steps to install the Flush kit /Solenoid valve on your pump:
1. Prepare the Flush kit / Solenoid valve for installaon.
A. Flush kit / Solenoid valve
B. Aach the bracket to the Flush kit / Solenoid valve with the hex head cap
screw
C. Flush kit / Solenoid valve with bracket
Note:
Do not fully ghten the hex head cap screw, so that the bracket posion can
be adjusted.
2. Replace the plug screw with the adapter.
▪ Replace the plug screw adjacent to the pump inlet with the supplied adapter.

3. Install the Flush kit / Solenoid valve on the pump.
▪ Remove the screw from the canopy.
▪ Place the Flush kit / Solenoid valve on the pump and make sure it is levelled,
by sliding it up and down the slot of the bracket.
▪ Tighten the hex head cap screw to x the posion.

5. Commissioning
CAUTION: DAMAGE TO MOTOR
Risk of damage to the equipment. High solvent ow in the inlet of the pump can
cause the pump motor to exceed the maximum motor current and trip the motor
protecon if the frequency converter is not installed.
WARNING: OPERATION SAFETY
Risk of injury or damage to the equipment. Make sure that there is sucient
venlaon at the locaon of the pump during ush operaon. Before you operate
the ush kit, make sure that the exhaust line and discharge are not obstructed in any
way.
WARNING: HAZARDOUS VAPOUR
Risk of injury. With the pump at operang temperature, vapour can escape from the
exhaust and can cause injury. Any evaporaon of substances which are detrimental
to health must be avoided.
WARNING: HOT SURFACE
Risk of burns. When you manually operate the solenoid valve, there exists the risk of
suering burns. Wear protecve gloves.
CAUTION: NOISE LEVEL
Risk of damage to the equipment. There can be an increase in the noise levels for
short period during ush operaon.
Connect the solvent supply to the G1/4" port of the solenoid or manual valve. When
frequency converter is not installed on the vacuum pump, the maximum allowable ow
rate of solvent depends on the characterisc of the solvent used and the motor overload
protecon device.
Each variant of the ush kit has a manually adjustable valve on the owmeter to set the
required ow in l/min. Alternavely, the valve can be adjusted to discharge a required
amount of liquid in a xed me interval. To set the required solvent ow and to make
sure that the pump is not damaged during the solvent ush, follow the commissioning
procedure.
We recommend you to set the inlet purge kit (if installed) to full throle during the
solvent ush, to get a pressure of around 30 to 60 mbar at the inlet of the pump.
There are two opons to ush the vacuum pump. The selecon of the opon depends
on the properes of the deposions inside the pump that you want to remove.

5.1 Opon 1
1. Flush the pump for connuous 10 minutes. Do this procedure once.
2. Make sure that during the operaon, the motor current does not exceed 1.2 mes
the maximum motor current.
5.2 Opon 2
1. Flush the pump for 1 minute.
2. Wait for 3 minutes.
3. Repeat step 1 and step 2 up to 5 mes.
4. Make sure that during the operaon, the motor current does not exceed 1.5 mes
the maximum motor current.
Refer the Table: Maximum allowable ow rates for the maximum ow rates (water as a
solvent) of the pump for the two ushing opons.

5.3 Seng the ow rate
If you select to use a solvent other than water, it is required to set a ow rate that will
maximise the cleaning eect and does not cause distress in the pump. The procedure to
set a ow rate is as follows:
1. Make sure that the inlet purge kit (if installed) is open to achieve inlet pressure of
around 30 to 60 mbar at the inlet of the pump.
2. Close the manual valve on the owmeter.
3. Open the solenoid valve.
4. Open the manual valve unl you get the required ow rate.
5. Start the mer. While the solvent ows, make sure that the pump is operang
normally and the motor current is less than the maximum allowable motor current
(depending on the solvent ush opon chosen).
6. If the noise level rises and the pump makes a metallic "pinking" noise, the pump
may be in distress.

7. If this occurs, reduce the solvent ow rate with the manually adjustable valve on
the owmeter unl the motor current is less than maximum allowable motor
current and/or the noise level of the pump has reduced.
8. Repeat the ming test to determine the permissible solvent ush ow rate,
without exceeding the allowable motor current for a specic duraon (refer the
datasheet of the motor protecon switch).
9. Once the ow rate is set, it does not need to be adjusted again and the solenoid
valve can be used to start and stop the quanty of solvent required.
10. During the solvent ush procedure, we recommend you to monitor the state of the
solvent leaving the exhaust of the pump. Make sure that most of the solvent
leaving the exhaust is in the liquid phase.

6. Accessories
The ush kit can be ordered as an accessory for the pump or it can be supplied (already
installed) as part of the pumping system.
If the ush kit is ordered as an accessory, refer Installaon on page 9 to install the ush
kit on the pump.
