United States, or in Canada CAN/CGA B149.1, and CAN/CGA B149.2, and the National Electrical
Code ANSI/NFPA No. 70mlatest edition in United States, or in Canada CSA Standard C22.1,
Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, and local code requirements. Install and/or adjust only per
installation instructions provided in the literature package for this cooktop.
Ask your dealer to recommend a qualified technician and an authorized repair service. Know how
to shut off gas supply at the meter and disconnect the electrical power to the cooktop at the circuit
breaker or fuse box in case of an emergency.
* User servicing--Do not repair or replace any part of the appliance unless specifically
recommended in the manuals. All other servicing should be done only by a qualified technician,
This may reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to the cooktop.
* Never modify or alter the construction of a cooktop by removing panels, wire covers or any
other part of the product.
Do not store items of interest to children in the cabinets above the cooktop. Children climbing
on the cooktop to reach items could be seriously injured.

Surface burners/unit may be hot even though flames are not visible/unit is dark in color. Areas near

Among these areas are the cooktop and surfaces facing the cooktop.

Use Proper Flame Size--Adjust flame size so it does not extend beyond the edge of the utensil. The
use of undersized utensils will expose a portion of the burner flame to direct contact and may result in ignition
of clothing. Proper relationship of utensil to flame will also improveefficiency.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR COOKTOP
°Know which knob controls each surface burner/surface unit. Place apan of food on the burner
before turning it on, and turn the burner off before removing the pan.
-Always turn knob to the full LITE position when igniting top burners. Visually check that burner
has lit. Then adjust the flame so it does not extend beyond the edge of the utensil.
* Use proper pan size. This cooktop can be equipped with one or more surface units of different sizes.
Select utensils having flat bottoms large enough to cover the surface unit. The use of undersized
utensils will expose a portion of the surface heating unit to direct contact and may result in ignition of
clothing. Proper relationship of utensil to the surface unit will also improve efficiency.
,Utensil Handles Should Be Turned Inward and Not Extend Over Adjacent Surface Burners/
Unit --To reduce the risk of burns, ignition of flammable materials, and spillage due to unintentional
contact with the utensil, the handle of the utensil should be positioned so that it is turned inward, and
does not extend over adjacent surface burners.
,Never Leave Surface Burners/Unit Unattended at High Heat Settings--Boilovers cause smoking
and greasy spillovers that may ignite, or a pan that has boiled dry may melt.

*Protective Liners--Do not use aluminum foil to line any part of the cooktop, use aluminum foil only
to cover food during cooking, improper installation of these liners may result in risk of electric shock,
or fire.
,Air curtain or other overhead range hoods, which operate by blowing adownward airflow on to
a range, shall not be used in conjunction with gas ranges other than when the hood and range
have been designed, tested and listed by an independent test laboratory for use in combination
with each other.
Glazed Cooking Utensils--Only certain types of glass, glass/ceramic, ceramic, earthenware, or
other glazed utensils are suitable for cooktop service without breaking due to the sudden change in
temperature. Check the manufacturer's recommendations for cooktop use.
-Do not use Searing Grill on the cooktop. The Searing Grill is not designed for use on the cooktop.

the decorative cover will become hot and possibly melt. You will not be able to see that the burner/

or burners/unit because the covers may cause overheating. Air will blocked from the burner/unit and
cause combustion problems.

This appliance can be used with Natural Gas and Propane Gas. It is shipped from the
factory for use with natural gas.
A kit for converting to LP gas is supplied with your cooktop. The kit is marked "FOR LP/
PROPANE GAS CONVERSION". Follow the installation instructions which are inside the
envelope.
The conversion must be performed by a qualified service technician in accordance with
the kit instructions and all local codes and requirements. Failure to follow instructions could
result in serious injury or property damage. The qualified agency performing this work
assumes responsibility for the conversion.

The griddle is intended for direct food cooking and can be used on both
sides (Figures 2 and 3). Do not use pans or other cookware on the
griddle. Doing so could damage the finish. With the grate in position over
the burner, set the griddle on top of the grate positioning the notches in
the griddle over the grate fingers (Figures 1 and 2).

Always use potholders to removethe griddle from the grate. Allow the griddle to cool before
removing. Donot set hot griddle on surfaces that cannot withstand high heat; such as countertops.

The Wok Stand provided with your cooktop is designed to allow round-bottomed woks to
be used it is recommended that you use a 14 inch diameter (35.5 cm) or less Wok,
It is recommended that you use the right front POWER burner'with the wok stand for best
performance. If properly positioned, the Wok Stand will not slide off the grate.
CAUTION
Alwaysuse potholdersto removethe wokstandfrom the grate. Allow thewokstandto cool
beforeremoving, Donotsethot wokstandon surfacesthat cannotwithstandhighheat; suchas
countertops.
Be surethe Wok Standispositionedcorrectlyand stable before useto preventhot spills and

With the grate in position over the burner, set the VVokStand on top of the grate positioning

The simmer plate (Figure 1) is intended
to diffuse lower temperature of the burner
to help cooking delicate aliment such as
chocolate, milk, bechamel, etc. It can also
be use for cooking sauce during tong period.
With the grate in position over the burner,
set the simmer plate on top of the grate
positioning the notches in the simmer plate
over the grate fingers (See Figure 2) and
then place the utensil on the simmer plate.

For the 18 000 BTU burner :
Place the burner head over the gas orifice (Figure
1). Be careful not to damage the electrode
whi(e placing the burner head over the orifice.
Make sure electrode fits correctly into slot in burner
head.
For all burners :
Place a burner cap on each burner head (see Figure
2), matching the cap size to the head size. The cap
for each burner has an inner locating ring which
centers the cap correctly on the burner head. Be
sure that all the burner caps and burner heads are
correctly placed BEFORE using your appliance.
Make sure each burner cap is properly aligned
and level,
Turn the burner on to determine if it will light. If the
burner does not light, contact a Service Center. Do
not ser,4ce the sealed burner yourself.

Formost cooking, start on the highest control setting and then turn to a lower one to
complete the process. Use the chart below as a guide for determining proper flame size for
various types of cooking. The size and type of utensil used and the amount of food being
cooked wilt influence the setting needed for cooking.
For deep fat frying, use a thermometer and adjust the surface control knob accordingly.
If the fat is too cool, the food will absorb the fat and be greasy. If the fat is too hot, the food
will brown so quickly that the center will be undercooked. Do not attempt to deep fat fry too
much food at once as the food will neither brown nor cook properly.

High Flame Start most foods; bring water to a boil; pan

*These settings are based on using medium-weight aluminum pans with
(ids. Settings may vary when using other types of pans.
Never extend the flame beyond the outer edge of the utensil. A higher flame
simply wastes heat and energy, and increases your risk of being burned by the
flame.

The color of the flame is the key to proper burner adjustment. A good flame is clear, blue
and hardly visible in a well-lighted room. Each cone of flame should be steady and sharply
defined. Adjust or clean burner if flame is yellow-orange. To clean burner, see instructions
under General Care & Cleaning.

"Yourcooktop may be equipped with any combination of the following burners:
Simmer Burner: best used for simmering delicate sauces, etc.
Standard Burner: used for most all surface cooking needs.
Large Burner: best used when bringing large quantities of liquid to temperature and when
preparing larger quantities of food.
Regardless of size, always select a utensil that is suitable for the amount and type of food
being prepared. Select a burner and flame size appropriate to the pan. Never allow flames
to extend beyond the outer edge of the pan.
Your cooktop is also equipped with 270 ° rotation flame control valves. These valves
provide enhanced control of the burner flame. Each burner lights automatically from an
electric ignitor when its control knob is turned to the _ position.

Donot placeplastic itemssuchassaltand pepper shakers,spoonholders or plastic wrappingson
top of thecooktop when it isin use. Theseitemscouldmeltor ignite.Potholders,towelsor woodspoons
couldcatchfireifplacedtooclosetoa flame.
To operate the surface burner:
1 Place cooking utensil on burner.
2. Push in and turn the Surface Control knob to _". Note: All electronic
ignitors will click at the same time. However only the burner you are turning
on will ignite.
3. Visually check that the burner has lit.
4. Turn the control knob to the desired flame size. The control knobs do not
have to be set at a particular mark. Use the guides and adjust the flame as
needed. DO NOT cook with the Surface Control knob in the _ position.
(The electronic ignitor will continue to click if left in the _ position, causing
premature wear.)
In the event of an electrical power outage, the surface burners can be lit
manually. To light a surface burner, hold a lit match to the burner head, then
slowly turn the Surface Control knob to _'. Use caution when lighting surface
burners manually.

Surfaces How to Clean
Painted and Plastic Control For general cleaning, use hot, soapy water and a cloth. For more difficult soils and
Knobs built-up grease, apply aliquid detergent directly onto the soil, Leave on soil for 30
to 60 minutes. Rinse with adamp cloth and dry. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners
on any of these materials; they can scratch_
Glass Surface Before cleaning, turn all controls to OFF Clean the glass as instructed in General
Care & Cleaning section under Cooktop Cleaning and Maintenance.
Porcelain Enamel Clean burner grates in the dishwasher and dry upon removal. If soils are not
Burner Grates, Burner Caps, removed, follow the cooktop cleaning instructions below.
Griddle, Simmer Plate, Wok Gentle scouring with a soapy scouring pad will remove most spots. Rinse with a
Stand 1:1 solution of clean water and ammonia. If necessary, cover difficult spots with
an ammonia-soaked paper towel for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinse with clean water and
a damp cloth, then scrub with a soap-fitted scouring pad. Rinse and wipe dry with
a clean cloth. Remove all cleaners or the porcelain may become damaged during
future heating. DO NOT use spray oven cleaners on the cooktop.
Surface Burners The holes in the burners of your cooktop must be kept clean at all times for proper
Burner Head ignition and a complete, even flame. Clean the burner holes routinely with a small
gauge wire or needle and especially after bad spitlovers which could clog these
holes.
To remove, clean and replace sealed burner units; follow the instructions in
General Care & Cleaning section under Cleaning the Burner Grates, Burner
Caps, Burner Heads, For stubborn stains, scrub with soap and water or a mild
abrasive cleanser and damp cloth. Dry the burners thoroughly in a warm oven for
30 minutes. Then replace them, making sure they are seated and level. DO NOT
put burner units in the dishwasher.
Stainless Steel, Clean stainless steel with hot, soapy water and a dishcloth. Rinse with
Control Panel, Decorative clean water and a cloth. Do not use cleaners with high concentrations of
Trim, chlorides or chlorines. Do not use harsh scrubbing cleaners. Only use kitchen

Burner Caps
Should you ever need to remove the burner caps for cleaning lift the burner cap off the
burner head. Clean heavy soils with an absorbent cloth. Rinse with a clean, damp cloth
and immediately thoroughly dry including the bottom and inside of the cap. Do not use
harsh abrasive cleaners. They can scratch the porcelain on the cap. Do not clean burner
caps in dishwasher.
When placing the burner caps, see important note below.
Whenplacingtheburnercaps onthecooktop,be suretheburnercapsareseatedfirmlyontopofburner
heads.Improperflamesizeand unevenheatingmayresultwhenanysurfaceburnersare turnedONand
theburnercapsare notseatedcorrectly.
Double ring burner cap
The glass in the double ring is designed to fit loosely. Clean 'with normal non abrasive glass
type cleaner and thoroughly dry before replacing.
Burner heads
Lift the burner cap from the burner head. The surface burner heads are secured to the
cooktop and must be cleaned in place.
For proper gas flow it may be necessary to clean the burner heads and slots. To clean, first
use a clean DAMP cloth to soak up any spills. Remove any food from between the burner
slots using a small nonabrasive brush like a toothbrush and afterwards wipe using a damp
cloth. For stubborn soils located in the slots, use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean.
Should you experience ignition problems it may be that an ignition port hole is partially
blocked with soil (see figs 1 & 2). With the burner head in place, use a small wire gauge
needle or the end of a paper clip to clear the ignition port or ports,

Consistentand proper cleaningis essential to maintaining your ceramicglasscooktop
Prior to using your cooktop for the first time, apply the recommended Cleaning Creme to the
ceramic surface. A sample of that cleaning creme is supplied with your appliance and you
will find it in store. Clean and buff with a paper towel. This will make cleaning easier when
soiled from cooking. The special cooktop cleaning cream leaves a protective finish on the
glass to help prevent scratches and abrasions.
Sliding aluminum or copper clad bottom pans on the cooktop glass can cause metal
markings on the cooktop surface. These marks should be removed immediately after the
cooktop has cooled using the cook-top cleaning cream. Metal marks can become permanent
if not removed prior to future use.
Cookware (cast iron, metal, ceramic or glass) with rough bottoms can mark or scratch the
cooktop surface. Do not slide anything metal or glass across the cooktop. Do not use
your cooktop as a cutting board or work surface in the kitchen. Do not cook foods directly on
the cooktop surface without a pan. Do not drop heaw or hard objects on the glass cooktop,
they may cause it to crack.

For light to moderate soil:
Apply a few drops of Cleaning Creme directly to the cooktop. Use
a paper towel to clean the entire cooktop surface. Make sure the
cooktop is cleaned thoroughly, leaving no residue. Do not use the
towel you use to clean the cooktop for any other purpose.
For heavy, burned on soil:
First, clean the surface as described above. Then, if soils remain,
protect your hand with a potholder and carefully scrape soils with a
metal razor blade scraper, holding scraper at a 30 degree angle to
the surface. Remove loosened soils with cooktop cleaning cream
and buff surface clean.

Plastic or foods with a high sugar content:
These types of soils need be removed immediately if spilled or melted onto the ceramic
cooktop surface. Permanent damage (such as pitting of the cooktop surface) may occur
if not removed immediately. After turning the surface elements OFF, use a razor blade
scraper or a metal spatula with a mitt and scrape the soil from the hot surface (as illustrated
on previous page). Allow the cooktop to coot, and use the same method for heavy or burned
on soils.
Do not use the following on the ceramic glass cooktop:
• Do not use abrasive cleaners and scouring pads, such as
metal and some nylon pads. They may scratch the cooktop,
making it more difficult to clean.
• Do not use harsh cleaners, such as chlorine bleach,
ammonia or oven cleaners, as they may etch or discolor the
cooktop.
• Do not use dirty sponges, cloths or paper towels, as they can
leave soil or lint on the cooktop which can burn and cause
discoloration.
Special Caution for Aluminum Foil and Aluminum Cooking Utensils
•Aluminum foil - Use of aluminum foil will damage the cooktop. Do not use thin aluminum
cooking utensils or allow foil to touch the ceramic cooktop under ANY circumstances.
• Aluminum utensils -The melting point of aluminum is much lower than that of other
metals. Care must be taken when aluminum pots or pans are used on the cooktop. If
allowed to boil dry, not only will the utensil be destroyed, but it may fuse to, break or mark
the ceramic glass surface, permanently damaging the cooktop surface.
