IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please read all safety instructions before using your new Electrolux cooktop.
 Remove all tape and packaging before using the Cooktop. Destroy the carton and plastic ba s
after unpackin the cooktop. Never allow children to play with packa in material. Do not remove
the model/serial plate attached to the cooktop.
 Proper Installation-Be sure your appliance is properly installed and grounded by a qualified
technician in accordance ith the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1latest edition in the
United States, or in Canada CAN/CGA B149.1, and CAN/CGA B149.2, and the National Electrical
Code ANSI/NFPA No. 70latest edition in United States, or in Canada CSA Standard C22.1,
Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, and local code requirements. Install and/or adjust only per
installation instructions provided in the literature packa e for this cooktop.
Ask your dealer to recommend a qualified technician and an authorized repair service. Know how to shut
off as supply at the meter and disconnect the electrical power to the cooktop at the circuit breaker or
fuse box in case of an emer ency.
 User servicingDo not repair or replace any part of the appliance unless specifically recommended
in the manuals. All other servicin should be done only by a qualified technician, This may reduce the
risk of personal injury and dama e to the cooktop.
 Never modify or alter the construction of a cooktop by removing panels, ire covers or any other
part of the product.

 Do not try to light any appliance.

 Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas
supplier's instructions.

Safety
 Storage on ApplianceFlammable materials should not be stored on the cooktop or near
surface units. This includes paper, plastic and cloth items, such as cookbooks, plasticware and
towels, as well as flammable liquids. Do not store explosives, such as aerosol cans, on or near
the cooktop. Flammable materials may explode and result in fire or property dama e.
 Do Not Leave Children AloneChildren should not be left alone or unattended in the area here
appliance is in use. They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any part of the appliance.
 DO NOT TOUCH SURFACE BURNERS/UNIT, GRATES OR AREAS NEAR THESE BURNERS/UNIT.
Surface burners/unit may be hot even thou h flames are not visible/ unit is dark in color. Areas near
surface burners/unit may become hot enou h to cause burns. Durin and after use, do not touch,
or let clothin or other flammable materials touch these areas until they have had sufficient time to
cool. Amon these areas are the cooktop and surfaces facin the cooktop.
 Wear Proper ApparelLoose-fitting or hanging garments should never be orn hile using the
appliance. Do not let clothin or other flammable materials contact hot surfaces.
 Do Not Use Water or Flour on Grease FiresSmother the fire ith a pan lid, or use baking soda,
a dry chemical or foam-type extinguisher.
 When heating fat or grease, atch it closely. Fat or rease may catch fire if allowed to become too hot.
 Use Only Dry PotholdersMoist or damp potholders on hot surfaces may result in burns from
steam. Do not let potholders touch hot heatin elements, the flame or burners. Do not use a towel
or other bulky cloth instead of a potholder.
 Do Not Heat Unopened Food ContainersBuildup of pressure may cause container to burst and
result in injury.
I PORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR COOKTOP
 Kno hich knob controls each surface burner/surface unit. Place a pan of food on the burner
before turnin it on, and turn the burner off before removin the pan.
 Al ays turn knob to the full LITE position hen igniting top burners. Visually check that burner has
lit. Then adjust the flame so it does not extend beyond the ed e of the utensil.
 Use proper pan size. This cooktop can be equipped with one or more surface units of different sizes.
Select utensils havin flat bottoms lar e enou h to cover the surface unit. The use of
undersized utensils will expose a portion of the surface heatin unit to direct contact and may result
in i nition of clothin . Proper relationship of utensil to the surface unit will also improve efficiency.

WARNING
Stepping, leaning or sitting on this cooktop can result in serious injuries and also cause damage
to the cooktop. Do not allow children to clim or play around the cooktop.
Never use your appliance for warming or heating the room.

WARNING
Use Proper Flame SizeAdjust flame size so it does not extend eyond the edge of the utensil. The use
of undersized utensils will expose a portion of the burner flame to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing.
Proper relationship of utensil to flame will also improve efficiency.

 Utensil Handles Should Be Turned In ard and Not Extend Over Adjacent Surface Burners/Unit
To reduce the risk of burns, i nition of flammable materials, and spilla e due to unintentional
contact with the utensil, the handle of the utensil should be positioned so that it is turned inward,
and does not extend over adjacent surface burners.
 Never Leave Surface Burners/Unit Unattended at High Heat SettingsBoilovers cause smokin
and reasy spillovers that may i nite, or a pan that has boiled dry may melt.
 Protective LinersDo not use aluminum foil to line any part of the cooktop, use aluminum foil only
to cover food durin cookin . Improper installation of these liners may result in risk of electric shock,
or fire.
 Glazed Cooking UtensilsOnly certain types of lass, lass/ceramic, ceramic, earthenware, or
other lazed utensils are suitable for cooktop service without breakin due to the sudden chan e
in temperature. Check the manufacturers recommendations for cooktop use.
 Do not use Searin Grill on the cooktop. The Searin Grill is not desi ned for use on the cooktop.
Doin so may result in a fire.
Do Not Use Decorative Surface Burner/Unit Covers. If a burner/unit is accidentally turned on, the
decorative cover will become hot and possibly melt. You will not be able to see that the burner/unit
is on. Burns will occur if the hot covers are touched. Dama e may also be done to the cooktop or
burners/unit because the covers may cause overheatin . Air will blocked from the burner/unit and
cause combustion problems.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR GLASS COOKTOP
 Do Not Operate or Clean a Broken Cooktop Glass.If lass top should break, cleanin solutions
and spillovers may penetrate the broken cooktop and create a risk of electric shock. Contact a
qualified technician immediately.
 Clean Cooktop Glass ith Caution.If a wet spon e or cloth is used to wipe spills on a hot cookin
area, be careful to avoid a steam burn. Some cleaners can produce harmful fumes if applied to a
hot surface.
 Avoid Scratching the Cooktop Glass ith Sharp Objects.

WARNING
Do Not Use Stove Top Grills on Your Sealed Gas BurnersIf you use a stove top grill on a sealed gas burner, it will cause
incomplete combustion and can result in exposure to carbon monoxide levels above allowable current standards. This can be
hazardous to your health.

Getting Start
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
For personal safety, the cooktop must be properly grounded. For
maximum safety, the power cord must be plugged into an
electrical outlet that is correctly polarized and properly grounded.
DO NOT operate the cooktop using a 2-prong adapter or an
extension cord. f a 2-prong wall receptacle is the only available
outlet, it is the personal responsibility of the consumer to have it
replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall receptacle installed
by a qualified electrician.
See the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS packaged with this
cooktop for complete installation and grounding instructions.
LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM (PROPANE) GAS CONVERSION
This appliance can be used with Natural Gas and Propane Gas. t is shipped from the
factory for use with natural gas.
A kit for converting to LP gas is supplied with your cooktop. The kit is marked FOR LP/
PROPANE GAS CONVERS ON. Follow the installation instructions which are inside the
envelope.
The conversion must be performed by a qualified service technician in accordance with the
kit instructions and all local codes and requirements. Failure to follow instructions could
result in serious injury or property damage. The qualified agency performing this work
assumes responsibility for the conversion.

8Surface Cooking
FLAME SIZE
For most cooking, start on the highest control setting and then turn to a lower one to
complete the process. Use the chart below as a guide for determining proper flame size for
various types of cooking. The size and type of utensil used and the amount of food being
cooked will influence the setting needed for cooking.
For deep fat frying, use a thermometer and adjust the surface control knob accordingly. f
the fat is too cool, the food will absorb the fat and be greasy. f the fat is too hot, the food
will brown so quickly that the center will be undercooked. Do not attempt to deep fat fry too
much food at once as the food will neither brown nor cook properly.
*Flame Size Type of Cooking
High Flame Start most foods; bring water to a boil; pan broiling
Medium Flame Maintain a slow boil; thicken sauces, gravies; steam
Low Flame Keep foods cooking; poach; stew
*These settings a e based on using medium-weight aluminum pans with
lids. Settings may va y when using othe types of pans.
Never extend the flame beyond the outer edge of the utensil. A higher flame
simply wastes heat and energy, and increases your risk of being burned by the
flame.
PROPER BURNER ADJUSTMENTS
The color of the flame is the key to proper burner adjustment. A good flame is clear, blue
and hardly visible in a well-lighted room. Each cone of flame should be steady and sharply
defined. Adjust or clean burner if flame is yellow-orange. To clean burner, see instructions
under Gene al Ca e & Cleaning.
LOCATIONS OF THE BURNERS
Your cooktop is equipped with 5 different sized burners.
The surface burners are located on the cooktop as follows (See Figure):
-a 5 000 BTU (natural gas) burner located at the right rear position;
- two 9 500 BTU (natural gas) burners located at the left and center rear
positions;
-a 12 000 BTU (natural gas) burner located at the left front position;
-a 14 000 BTU (natural gas) burner located at the center front position;
-and a 17 000 BTU (natural gas) burner located at the right front position.

PLACEMENT OF BURNER HEADS AND CAPS
Place burner head over each gas orifice, matching the head with the
orifice size. Be ca eful not to damage the elect ode while placing
the head ove the o ifice. Make sure electrode fits correctly into slot in
burner head. Place a burner cap on each burner head, matching the cap
size to the head size. The cap for each burner has an inner locating ring
which centers the cap correctly on the burner head. Be sure that all the
burner caps and burner heads are correctly placed BEFORE using your
appliance.
Make sure each burner cap is properly aligned and level.
Turn the burner on to determine if it will light. f the burner does not light,
contact a Service Center. Do not service the sealed burner yourself.
PLACEMENT OF BURNER GRATES
Place grates on the Ceramic Glass Cooktop. Be sure they
are right located inside the stainless steel frame.
ATTENT ON: Do not slide the grates on the stainless steel
frame, doing so can damage the surface.

SURFACE COOKING UTENSILS
Note: Always use a utensil for its intended purpose. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
Some utensils were not made to be used in the oven or on the cooktop.

pan and ruler.
*Specialty pans such as lob-
ster pots, griddles and pressure
cookers may be used but must
conform to the above recom-
mended cookware require-
ments.
USING THE GRIDDLE

Side with grooves
The griddle is intended for direct food cooking and can be used on both
sides (Figures 2 and 3). Do not use pans or other cookware on the griddle.
Doing so could damage the finish. With the grate in position over the
burner, set the griddle on top of the grate positioning the notches in the
griddle over the grate fingers(Figures 1 and 2).

CAUTION
Always place the griddle on the grate efore to turn on the urner.
Always use potholders to remove the griddle from the grate. Allow the griddle to cool efore removing. Do not
set hot griddle on surfaces that cannot withstand high heat; such as countertops.
Be sure the griddle is positioned correctly and sta le efore use to prevent hot spills and possi le urns.
