Elmo EDR-X1 Troubleshooting guide

EDR-X1 SAMPLE PROGRAM
§Please make sure of the following before starting to use this software.
1. Please make sure that Java software provided by Sun Microsystems is installed
in your PC. If not, please install according to the following instructions.
i. Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2_04/download.html
ii. Download J2SE v 1.4.2_04 (JRE)
32-bit/64-bit for Windows/Linux/Solaris SPARC
32-bit for Solaris x86
iii. Run the install package on your PC.
NOTE: This remote program is not compatible with the Java provided by
Microsoft! This remote program is compatible only with Windows 98/2000/XP
§Start up
1. Power on the EDR-X1, and wait until the LED is illuminated after flashing.
2. Setup the network on the EDR-X1 at the MENU screen. Check the accessibility
by pinging the EDR-X1.
3. Make sure there is recorded data in the hard disk of the EDR-X1. This program
does not work if there is no recorded data in the hard disk.
4. Double click "edr-x1prog. jar". You can make a short cut to "edr-x1prog. jar" on
your desktop. Click "AGREE" on the Remote Software Agreement screen.
5. Input the IP address of the EDR-X1, then click "REGISTER" to make the IP
address registered. If the IP address is already registered, you can skip this
article 5.
6. Choose the IP address you need to access and click "CONNECT". If the
connection was not successfully made, an error message such as "Network
Error" or "Command Error" appears on the screen. 'Check your DVR if one of
these error message appears.

2-1<< KEY
Reverse Playback from the Playback position with the skip time interval.
Click STOP to stop playback.
Note: If no image data is recorded before the playback position,
this function cannot be performed.
2-2<KEY
Reverse Playback from the Playback position.
Click STOP to stop playback.
Note: If no image data is recorded before the playback position,
this function cannot be performed.
2-3STOP KEY
Effective only when <<, <, > or >> is in use.
2-4>KEY
Forward Playback from the Playback position.
Click STOP to stop playback.
Note: If no image data is recorded before the playback position,
this function cannot be performed.
2-5>> KEY
Forward Playback from the Playback position with the skip time interval.
Click STOP to stop playback.
Note: If no image data is recorded before the playback position,
this function cannot be performed.
2-6UP DN KEY
Forward Playback from the Playback position with the skip time interval.
DAY/TIME SEARCH
3-1 UP DN KEY
Set the Year/Month/Day/Hour/Min.
3-2 SEARCH KEY
To start search. Note: If no data is found at the time requested, the next
nearest data is called.
CAPTURING
4-1 CAPTURE Key
To capture the image data.
1. Input the directory name.
2. Input the file name.
Note: file name will be edr-x1_0.jpg ---edr-x1_4.jpg as default value.
3. Specify the start position and end position.
4. Click START
4-2 Pic by Pic (FWD)
Display the next picture after the playback position.
Note: If no image data is recorded before the playback position,
this function cannot be performed.
4-3 Pic by Pic (RVS)
Display the previous picture before the playback position
Note: If no image data is recorded before the playback position,
this function cannot be performed.
4-4 Accurate Search
Display a picture at the time of playback position + skipped time.
Note 1: If no picture exists at the time requested, the next
closest picture to the requested time will be displayed.
Note 2: If you set Time Skip (FWD) function at the end of
recorded date and search, screen shows an error.
Note 3: If you set Time Skip (RVS) function at the beginning of
recorded date and search, screen shows an error.
Note 4: In the case that the playback position is 16:30:30 on
ARP/01/04 and the previously recorded data was at 16:20:30 on
APR/01/04, and if you set Time Skip (RVS) function with 1 SEC
and search, screen shows an error because of the reason of
above Note 1.
MENU
5-1Go to Network Connection
Disconnect the current connection and connect it again at the
NETWORK CONNECTION screen.

ERROR
Message Connection Error
Cause Power of EDR is off or LAN cable is disconnected.
Measure If it can be connected to by pinging, go to NETWORK CONNECT screen
and reconnect.
Measure DVR stop operation
Cause 1. Transmission error to DVR
2. EDR is not in normal condition (Power LED on), or recorded data was
deleted by disc formatting, during connection.
Measure Check the EDR and reconnect
Message Capture disabled or no space on hard disk
Cause 1. Transmission error to DVR
2. No space on hard disk to record data
3. EDR is not in normal condition (Power LED on), or recorded data was
deleted by disc formatting, during connection.
Measure Check the remaining space on the hard disk, EDR and reconnect.
Message Accurate Search Error
Cause Accurate search is disabled
Measure In case of FWD direction, Accurate Search was set at or beyond the end
of recorded data. In case of RSV direction, 1) Accurate Search was set
at or beyond the beginning of recorded data, or 2) no data at the time
requested and the same playback position was searched.
Message Command Error
Cause Command signal sent from EDR was not recognized. EDR is not normal
condition (Power LED on), or no recorded data.
Measure Check the EDR and reconnect.
Message Correct Start Position as earlier time then End Position
Cause Start position is set after End Position.
Measure Click CLEAR and reset the Start position and End Position.
Message Directory (or File) is not found
Cause 1. Selected directory does not exist.
2. Directory or File name input is incorrect.
Measure 1. Make a new directory.
2. Check the input date.
Message Day/Time Search disabled
Cause Input date or time is incorrect.
Measure Try again after correcting the data.
NOTES:
-- Java must be installed into your PC through the web site of Sun Microsystems.
-- You must acknowledge that the use of this software is at your own risk. Although this software
has been tested, ELMO will not warrant the performance or result you may obtain by using this
software with your network.
-- Only one PC can control this program. If another PC accessed to the EDR-X1 while your PC is
connected to it, your connection will be terminated.
-- It is recommended that you exit all other applications (such as IE), before you start this program
to make the transactions faster.
-- The image captured and saved to the PC is a JPEG file. The JPEG image has a size of 720 x
248m pixels. You can pull it only to vertical direction by 200% by using image-editing software
such as Microsoft photo editor*, or Adobe Photoshop*, etc, to change it to normal picture size.
*Microsoft Photo Editor and Adobe Photoshop are registered trademarks of their respective
companies.
