qMakesurethatthehazardousareaspeciedonthesensorapprovaltagissuitablefortheenvironmentinwhichthe
sensorisinstalled.
qVerifythatthelocalambientandprocesstemperaturesarewithinthelimitsofthesensor.SeeEnvironmentalLimits.
qIfyoursensorhasanintegraltransmitter,nowiringisrequiredbetweenthesensorandtransmitter .Followthe
wiringinstructionsinthetransmitterinstallationmanualforsignalandpowerwiring.
qIfyourtransmitterhasremote-mountedelectronics,followtheinstructionsinthismanualforwiringbetweenthe
sensorandthetransmitter,andthenfollowtheinstructionsinthetransmitterinstallationmanualforpower
andsignalwiring.
qForthewiringbetweenthesensorandthetransmitter,considermaximumcablelengths,asshowninTable1.
Themaximumdistancebetweenthesensorandtransmitterdependsonthecabletype.Foralltypesofwiring,
MicroMotionrecommendsusingMicroMotioncable.

•TherearenopiperunrequirementsforMicroMotionsensors.Straightrunsofpipeupstreamordownstream
areunnecessary.
•Ifthesensorisinstalledinaverticalpipeline,liquidsandslurriesshouldowupwardthroughthesensor .Gases
mayowupwardordownward.
•Keepthesensortubesfullofprocessuid.
•Forhaltingowthroughthesensorwithasinglevalve,installthevalvedownstreamfromthesensor .
•Thesensordoesnotrequireexternalsupports.Theangeswillsupportthesensorinanyorientation.(Some
sensormodelsinstalledinverysmall,exiblepipelinehaveoptionalinstallationinstructionsthatallowforexternal
supports.)
•Whentransportingorliftinglargesensors,itmaybeusefultoidentifythesensor’scenterofgravity,shownin

MountingELITESensor
Useyourcommonpracticestominimizetorqueandbendingloadonprocessconnections.
Tip
Toreducetheriskofcondensationorexcessivemoisture,theconduitopeningshouldnotpointupward(ifpossible).The
conduitopeningofthejunctionboxorcoreprocessorcanberotatedfreelytofacilitatewiring.

TheCMF010sensorhasanoptionalmountingcongurationforusewithsmallorexiblepipeline.Ifthepipeline
adequatelysupportsthesensor,thisprocedurecanbeskipped.
Procedure
1.Locatetheoptionalmountingholes.Forsensorswithajunctionbox,thejunctionboxmustberotatedtothesideto
exposethemountingholes.SeeFigure5.

mountingsurface.
MountingaCMFS010orCMFS015SensorinaBracket
TheCMFS010andCMFS015sensorshaveanoptionalmountingbracketforusewithsmallorexiblepipeline.Ifthe
pipelineadequatelysupportsthesensor,thisprocedurecanbeskipped.
Procedure
1.Securethemountingbrackettoawallorotheratsurfacewithfouruser-supplied5/16″(8mm)bolts.SeeFigure6.

SecuringWafer-StyleProcessConnections
Awafer-styleconnectionletsyouclampthesensorintothepipeline.Awaferinstallationkitisshippedwithawafer-style
sensor.
Procedure
1.Makesurethattheboltsprovidedareratedforyourprocessconnection.
2.Slipthesensoralignmentringsovereachendofthesensorwafer,theninsertthesensorbetweentheprocess
connectionsinthepipeline.SeeFigure7.MicroMotionrecommendsinstallinggaskets(user-supplied).
