Basic Set Up
A. Overview
•The MRLDS –250 provides an Analog Output signal that is proportional to the level of gas
detected.
•The Default will 1-5V but it can be set as follows: 4-20mA; 0-5V; 0-10V; 2-10V.
•No Jumpers or hardware switch settings are required to configure the Analog Output Type.
This is done electronically from the front panel display.
•Press and hold the information button for five seconds to activate the parameter list.
•Each parameter is shown in turn by using the UP or DOWN buttons. The parameter
is shown as P.-XX, with XX being the parameter value. Pressing Enter while a
parameter is displayed allows the attributes of the parameter to be set. Each Parameter has
its own attributes, as shown in the following table. Set the attributes as desired, and then press
Enter to save the setting.
B. How to Set Up Analog Output Type of MRLDS-250
1. For Address, look for P.-03 on the parameter list then press Enter button.
2. Set the desired type by pressing Up or Down with the type was designated as
follows:
➢00 Selects 0-5V
➢01 Selects 1-5V (Default)
➢02 Selects 0-10V
➢03 Selects 2-10V
➢04 Selects 4-20mA
3. Press Enter button to Save.
4. For Scaling, look for P.-16 on the parameter list then press Enter button.
5. This will allow the user to select the full-scale PPM value that represents the maximum analog
output (for example 1000PPM = 5V when 1-5V was selected on P.-03). Use the Up or
Down to adjust the value and set it to 1000PPM.
6. Press Enter to save the setting.

C. How to Set Multiflex Input point for MRLDS - 250
1. An input point on a Multiflex board consists of two terminals. One of these terminals,
labeled as “SIG” reads the signal from the sensor, while the other, labeled “0v” is where
the sensor’s ground wire is connected.
2. The Analog Output Signal (+) should go to (SIG) terminal of the Multiflex board and the
Ground (GND) should go to (0v) terminal of the board.
3. The Dip Switch setting of the Multiflex board for the MRLDS –250 should be in OFF
position since it supplies its own voltage signal to the point.

D. How to Set the Input Type on E2 Controller for MRLDS –250
1. Log in to E2 controller by pressing and type in your Log in credentials then press
.
2. Press + or press -- to go to Input Status Screen.

3. Navigate to the Board and Point of the Input where the MRLDS –250 is connected then press
for Setup. Press for Analog Type. In this Example, Board 1 Point 1 is being used.
4. Highlight Sensor Type parameter by pressing the Down Arrow Key.

5. Press for Look Up and look for Linear and press to confirm.
6. Navigate down to Eng Units.

7. Press for Look Up and look for PPM and press to confirm.
8. Set the Low-End Point and High-End Point depending on the range set on the MRLDS –
250 which is on P.-03 parameter. On this Example, we use the default which is the 1-5V.

9. Set the Low End EU and High End EU. This will be the equivalent PPMreading of the Analog
Output given out by the device. “0” will be the Low End EU and the High End EU will be what
is set on P.-16 parameter. We should set it to 1000.
10. For the Low End Limit, set it to -10% of what is set on Low End EU and +10% of what is
set on High End EU for the High End Limit.

11. Press button to save.
E. How to Associate the MRLDS –250 on a Sensor Control
1. Add an Analog Sensor Application. Press --Add Application.

2. Press for Look up, look for Analog Sensor Control and then press .
3. For How many, type in 1 then press .

4. Press for Yes to Edit the application.
5. Set the Name of the application to Leak Detection and the Eng Units to PPM.

6. Press to C2: Inputs then type in the board and point of the MRLDS –250.
7. To trigger an Output on this Sensor Control, indicate the required set point on C4: Set Points
Tab. Press twice to tab over to it. CUTIN will be the amount of PPM the output will be
triggered and the CUTOUT will be the amount the output will be turned Off. Set the CUTIN to
1000PPM.
Note: The cut out of the alarm on the actual MRLDS –250 is when the concentration drops
below 80% of the alarm set point. That’s why if you will notice, we set the cut out to 800PPM.

8. To set an Alarm, press twice to tab over to C7: Alarm/NTC Tab. Set the Alarm HI
Limit to required PPM to generate an Alarm. Set it to 1000PPM.
9. Press button to save
Note: If you want this sensor control to act at the same time with the actual MRLDS –250
device, make sure that the set points, delays and other parameters are the same.

F. How to Disable E2 applications when MRLDS –250 is in Alarm condition.
1. Add Digital Sensor Control
•This will invert the value from the Analog Sensor control, for it to disable other
applications during an Alarm.
a. Add a Digital Sensor Application. Press --Add Application.
b. Press for Look up, look for Digital Sensor Control. Go down to “How Many” then
type in 1 and then press .

c. Press for Yes to set up the application.
d. Set the name of the application to Leak Disable and set the Invert Ctrl Val parameter to
Yes

e. Press to tab over to C2: Inputs Tab.
f. Set the Input to Area Ctrl: Application: Property type to associate the Output of the
Leak Detection. Press for Edit. Choose Alternate I/O Formats then press
.

g. Press to select Area Ctrl: Application: Property.
h. And the format of the Input will be changed. Press under Area Ctrl.
