UNPACKINGAND SET-UP
•Carefullyremovethe unitfromthe carton and removeall packing material
fromthe unit.
•Removeanylabelsorstickerswhichmaybe on the frontortop ofthe set, but
do notremoveanylabelsfromthe back orbottom.
•Wesuggestthatyou retainthe originalcarton and packing materialsincaseit
everbecomesnecessarytoreturnyourunitforservice.Thisisthe onlysure
waytoprotectthe unitfromdamage intransit.
•If you do disposeofthe carton and packing materials,pleasedo soproperly.

Thissystemisdesigned tooperateon 120V60HzAChousecurrent.Connecting

notcovered byyourwarranty.You will notethatthissystemisequipped witha

BATTERYREPLACEMENT
When the batteriesbecometoo weak,the operating
distanceofthe remotecontrollerisgreatlyreduced and
you will need toreplacethe batteries.
NOTES:
•Tomaintainthe accuracy and long lifeofthe transmitter,do notpress twoor
morebuttonssimultaneously.
•If the remotecontrolisnottobe used foralong time,removethe batteriesto
preventpossibledamage through leaking batteries.
•Donotmixdifferenttypesofbatteries,oroldbatterieswithnewones.
USINGTHEREMOTECONTROLLERCORRECTLY
•Pointthe remotecontrolleratthe RemoteSensor.
•The functionsofthe buttonson the remotecontrolarethe sameasthe
corresponding controlson the mainunit.
•When thereisastrong ambientlightsource,the performanceofthe infrared
RemoteSensormaybe degraded,causing unreliableoperation.
•The maximumeffectivedistanceforremotecontroloperation isabout15 feet.

SPEAKERCONNECTION
Connecteachspeakertothe corresponding speakerterminalson the back panel
ofthe mainunit. Makesurethatthe left speakerisconnected tothe left pairof
speakerterminalsand the rightspeakertothe rightpairofspeakerterminals.Also
makesurethatthe speakerwiresarecorrectlyconnected:thatthe red wiresare
connected tothe red terminalsand the black wirestothe black terminals.
Depress the plasticlevertoopen the terminal,insertthe bareend ofthe speaker
wireintothe opening and release.

LISTENINGTORADIO
TUNERINFORMATION
ThissystemfeaturesanormalAM/FManalog tuning system.Unlikeadigitaltuner
it doesnotautomaticallylockinontheexactfrequencyofastation.However
instead ofadialscaleandamovingdialpointerwehaveincluded adigitalfrequency
displaytohelpyou tune moreaccurately.Donotbe concerned ifyou cannoteasily
tune the displaytothe exactfrequency ofyourfavoritestations,especiallyon the
AMband.Slowlyrotatethe tuningcontroluntil the displayapproachesthe frequency
ofthe desired station and stop when getthe strongest, noisefree reception -even
ifthe displayisnotindicating the exactfrequency ofdesired station.
VOLUMEAND BASS BOOSTCONTROLS
ThismodelfeatureselectronicUP/DOWNvolumecontrolson boththe
mainunitand the remotehandset. Press the UporDownbutton to
raiseorlowerthe volume.
Slide the BASS boostswitchon the mainunittothe 'ON'position toprovide
increased bass response,especiallyatlowervolumelevels.If you are
listening tomusicwithheavy bass athigh volumelevelsslide the BASS
boostswitchtothe 'OFF'position topreventdistortion.
OPERATION
1.)Pressthe POWER/STANDBY buttonon
the mainunitorthe remotecontrol.The
maindisplaylighting comes‘On’and the
STANDBY LEDindicatorgoes‘Off’.
2.)Selectthe Radiofunction byswitching the
CD/RADIOselectortoRADIOposition.
3.)Selectthe desired band (AM,FMorFMST.)withthe Band selectorswitch.

4.)Rotatethe tuning controluntil the exact
frequency ofthe desired station appearson
the display.If you havetuned toan FM
Stereo stationand theBandselectorissetto
FMST,the stereo indicatorwill appearinthe
display.
Note:If you arelistening toaweakordistantFMStereo station and reception
fadesorisnoisy,setting the Band selectortothe FMposition will normally
provide someimprovement. Howeverthe sound will no longerbe instereo.
5.)AdjustVOLUMElevelBASS boostcontrolasdesired.
6.)WhenyouarefinishedlisteningpressthePOWER/STANDBY buttononthe
mainunitorthe remotecontroltoturnthe power'Off'.The maindisplaylighting
goes'Off'and the STANDBY LEDindicatorcomes'On'again.
ANTENNA
FM
ForFMreception thereisabuilt-inFMantenna wireatthe rearofthe unit. Unravel
the wireand moveitaround toobtainthe bestreception.
AM
TheAMbarantenna isinside the cabinet. ToimproveAMreception,you mayhave
tomoveorslightlyrotatethe mainunituntil you obtainthe bestreception.

2.)Setthe CD/RADIOselectortothe CD position.
Twobars"––"will flashinthe displayforafew
secondswhilethe playertriestoread the disc
and then "00"will appear,indicating thatthereis
no disc inthe player.
3.)Press the CD DOOROPENbutton to
opentheCDdoor.PlaceaCDonthecenter
spindlewiththeprintedlabelsidefacingup.
Gentlypress downon the disc nearthe
centerholetomakesurethatthe disc is
properly'seated'on the spindle.
4.)Press downon the CD dooruntil itcloses
completelyand locks.The disc will begintospin
forafewsecondswhiletheplayerreadsthetable
ofcontents,thenthediscwillstopandthedisplay
will showthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
5.)Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobegin
playback.The PLAY indicatorappearsinthe
displayand playback beginson track 1.
6.)Adjustthe VOLUMEand BASS boostcontrolsasdesired.
7.)When the lasttrack hasplayed the disc stopsautomatically.Tostop playback
atanytimebeforethe disc endspress the STOPbutton.The displayagain
showsthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.

Pause Control
Topausetemporarilyduring playback press the
PLAY/PAUSE button again.The sound stops
and the Playindicatorflashes,butthe disc continues
tospin.Press the PLAY/PAUSE button once
moretocancelpauseand resumenormalplayback.
The playindicatorstopsflashing.
Skip/SearchControls(/)
Tostartplayback fromaspecifictrack insertyourdisc and waitforthe displayto
showthe totalnumberoftracks.PresseithertheForwardorReverseSKIP/
SEARCH button until the desired track numberappearson the display,then press
the PLAY/PAUSE button tobeginplayback on thattrack.
Toskiptracks during playback press eitherthe ForwardorReverseSKIP/
SEARCH buttonsuntil the desired track numberappearson the display.Playback
will beginon the desired track.
During playback,toquicklysearchwithinatrack foraspecificmusicalpassage
depress and holdeitherthe ForwardorReverseSKIP/SEARCH buttons.
Theplayerwillmoveforwardorbackwardathighspeed.Whenyouhearthedesired
passage releasethe SKIP/SEARCH buttons.Normalplayback will resumeatthat
point.
Note:The volumelevelisreduced automaticallyduring high speed musicsearch.

RepeatPlayback
You can repeateitherasingletrack orthe entire
disccontinuously.Repeatfunctioncanbeactivated
whilethe disc isplaying orwhilethe disc is
stopped,buttheremustbe adisc inthe player.
To RepeataSingleTrack:
•Press the SKIP/SEARCH button toselectthe
desired track.
•Press the REPEATbutton once.The REPEAT
indicatorflashes.
•Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobeginplayback.The selected track will
be repeated continuously.
To RepeatTheEntireDisc
•Press the REPEATbutton twice.The REPEAT
indicatorremains'On'.
•Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobegin
playback.The entiredisc will be repeated
continuously.
To CancelRepeatPlayback
Press the REPEATbutton until the REPEATindicatordisappears,orpress the
STOPbutton.Repeatfunction will alsobe canceled ifyou open the CD dooror
switchtothe Radiofunction.

Note:
TheRANDOMbuttonislocatedonlyontheremotehandset.
The Randomfunction can be activated whilethe disc is

•Load yourdisc and waituntil the totaltracks
appearon the display.
•PresstheRANDOMbuttonontheremotecontrol.
The RANDOMindicatorappearsinthe display.

6.)RepeatStep 5until you haveentered up to20 tracks inthe memory.
7.)Press the PLAY/PAUSE buttontobeginprogrammed playback.The PLAY
indicatorappearstogetherwiththe PROGRAM
indicator.Playback will beginon the first
programmed track and continue until all ofthe
programmed tracks havebeen played.
Note:If the /SKIP/SEARCH button arepressed during programmed
playback the playerwill skipforwardorback tothe nexttrack inthe programmed
sequence,notthe nexttrack on the disc.
Afterall oftheprogrammedtracks havebeenplayed theplayerstopsand thePLAY
indicatordisappears.Butthe PROGRAMindicatorremainsinthe displayand the
programmed sequenceremainsinthe memory.If you press the PLAY/PAUSE
button the programmed sequencewill playagain.Tocancelthe programfrom

MUTE
Toshutoff the sound ofthe radioorthe CD temporarilypress the MUTEbutton on
the remotecontrol.The speakersshutoff and the MUTELEDindicatorflashes.
Press the MUTEbutton againtocancelmuteand restorethe sound.The MUTE
LEDindicatorgoes'Off'.
STEREOHEADPHONEJACK
Forprivatelistening withoutdisturbing othersconnectasetofstereo headphones
(notincluded)tothe PHONES Jack on the left side panel.The built-inspeakers
automaticallyshutoff when stereo headphonesareconnected tothe headphone
jack.When using stereo headphonesalways startwiththe volumecontrolsettoa
lowleveland graduallyincreaseuntil you find the desired level.

COMPACTDISCCARE
•Toremoveadisc fromitsstorage case,press downon the centreofthe case
and lift the disc outs,holding itcarefullybythe edges.
•Fingerprintsand dustshouldbe carefullywiped off the disc’s recorded surface
withasoft cloth.Unlikeconventionalrecords,compactdiscs haveno grooves
tocollectdustand microscopicdebris,sogentlywiping withasoft clothshould
removemostparticles.Wipe inastraightline fromthe inside tothe outside of
the disc.Small dustparticlesand lightstainswill haveabsolutelyno effecton
reproduction quality.
•Clean the disc periodicallywithasoft, lint-free,drycloth.Neverusedetergents
orabrasivecleanerstoclean the disc.If necessary,useaCD cleaning kit.
•Neverwriteon oraffixlabelstothe surfaceofcompactdiscs.
CAREOFTHECABINETS
•If the cabinetsbecomedustywipe themwithasoft drydustcloth.Donotuse
anywaxorpolishsprays on the cabinets.
•If the frontpanelbecomesdirtyorsmudged withfingerprintsitmaybe cleaned
withasoft clothslightlydampened withamildsoap and watersolution.Never
useabrasiveclothsorpolishesasthesewill marthe finishofyourunit.
