a) The water in a spa should never exceed 104°F (40 °C). Water temperatures between 100°F (38
°C) and 104°F (40°C) are considered safe for a healthy adult. Lower water temperatures are rec-
ommended for young children and when spa use exceeds 10 minutes.
minutes.
b) Since excessive water temperatures have a high potential for causing fetal damage during the
early months of pregnancy, pregnant or possibly pregnant women should limit spa water tem-
peratures to 100°F (38°C). Étant donné que les températures excessives de l’eau ont un potentiel
élevé de causer des dommages au fœtus pendant les premiers mois de la grossesse, les femmes
enceintes ou éventuellement enceintes devraient limiter la température de l'eau du spa à 38°C
(100°F).
c) Before entering a spa, the user should measure the water temperature since the tolerance of water
temperature-regulating devices varies. Avant d’entrer dans un spa, l’utilisateur doit mesurer la
température de l’eau car la tolérance des dispositifs de régulation de la température de l’eau
varie.

Endless Pools®Hydrostride™Installation
Section 1: GENERAL OVERVIEW OF ENDLESS POOLS HYDROSTRIDE
The Endless Pools Hydrostride is an underwater hydraulically driven treadmill that adds a smooth and adjustable workout to
any conventional pool under new construction. Research shows that, compared to land-based treadmills, underwater tread-
mills allow the end user to burn more calories, enjoy an increased range of motion, and suffer less joint impact.
The Hydrostride attaches directly to the pool wall with the use of a wall mounting bracket. Two hydraulic hoses carrying a
non-food grade, biodegradable hydraulic uid run between the Hydrostride and remotely located hydraulic power unit, thus
eliminating the need for electricity poolside. The hydraulic hoses that carry the uid from the power unit to the Hydrostride
are hidden in the pool wall and under the pool deck. Because the wall mounting bracket is embedded in the pool wall, the
Hydrostride is ideal for new pool construction or pool refurbishment.
The Hydrostride features a spacious 18-3/4" (48cm) wide belt for walking or running. With its 5-HP motor, the Hydrostride
reaches a top speed of 5.5 mph. The Hydrostride is activated using a water-resistant remote control that turns the unit on and
off and adjusts the speed. The Endless Pools Fastlane®(swim current) can also be installed and used in conjunction with the
Hydrostride to add intensity to the workout.
The Hydrostride can be installed in multiple ways:
If installing in a traditional gunite pool, the Hydrostride can sit above the pool oor as shown in Figure 1.1 or can be recessed
so that the unit sits ush with the pool oor as shown in Figure 1.2.

Section 2: CHOOSING A LOCATION FOR THE HYDROSTRIDE
Hydrostride
The Hydrostride can t into virtually any swimming pool. For optimal use, it’s recommended that the Hydrostride is installed
no closer than 18" (46cm) to any adjacent wall. In addition, 18" (46cm) of clearance is recommended at the rear of the
Hydrostride. These recommendations allow ample space for stepping on and off the unit. The water depth where the Hydro-
stride is installed should be based upon the height and preference of the end user. It’s recommended that the waterline on the
user is higher than the waist, but lower than the shoulders. The treadmill belt sits approximately 4-5/8" (12cm) above the pool
oor. This MUST be considered when determining the appropriate water depth.

Hydrostride & Fastlane®Pro
If installing the optional Fastlane Pro in conjunction with the Hydrostride, 24" (61cm) of clearance is required on each side of
the swim unit to any adjacent wall. In addition, the water depth where the swim unit is installed MUST be a minimum of 46"
(1,16m) deep. For optimal performance, 12' (3,65m) is recommended between the wall on which the swim unit is installed
and the opposing wall in line with the swim unit.

Equipment
When choosing the location of the Hydrostride/Fastlane Pro, the equipment location outside the pool MUST be considered.
Typically, the hydraulic power unit is located with the rest of the pool equipment. The power unit MUST be installed on a
solid level surface and preferably not on wet ground. The power unit can be installed outside but should not be subject
to driving rain.
Considerations must be made for the route of the hydraulic hoses to run under the pool deck and back to the remotely
located power unit. The standard 3/8" (9,5mm) hydraulic hose length is 25' (7,6m). If the hydraulic hose run is greater than
25' (7,6m), the hoses MUST be attached to a larger diameter hose which will then connect directly to the power unit in order
to reduce pressure loss and a potential reduction in top speed. It is at a junction box where a step up to the larger diameter
1/2" (12,7mm) hose occurs. The junction box is typically buried under the pool deck. Access to the junction box MUST be
maintained. See Section 5: Junction Box for detailed information.
Section 3: RECEIVING THE HYDROSTRIDE
The Endless Pools Hydrostride and all associated components are shipped in a wooden crate. Most shipping companies will
lower the crates to the ground with a hydraulic fork lift. The contents can remain in the crate until you are ready to begin
installation.
Upon arrival, the crate should be inspected for external damage. Should there be visible damage, you MUST complete a
damage-claim report provided by the truck driver. Please call the Endless Pools shipping department immediately at 800-
732-8660.
To begin installation, open the crate by removing the wooden top and sides.

Section 4A: HYDROSTRIDE & GRAB BAR MOUNTING KIT INSTALLATION – GUNITE POOL
A The Hydrostride and grab bar for the Hydrostride attach directly to the pool wall with the use of a wall mounting bracket.
The mounting brackets are to be embedded into the pool wall as shown in Figures 4A.1. & 4A.2. The placement of the brack-
ets on the pool wall is CRITICAL.
The Hydrostride mounting bracket MUST be positioned so that the distance between the expected nished pool oor (gunite
and nish coat) and bottom edge of the bracket is 5-1/4" (13,3cm). The grab bar mounting bracket MUST be centered above
the Hydrostride bracket and positioned on the pool wall so that waterline mark etched into the bracket sits along the pool’s
expected waterline (Fig. 4A.1).

Endless Pools®Hydrostride™Installation
Both the Hydrostride and grab bar mounting brackets will be tied to the rebar grid of the pool prior to the gunite applica-
tion. Additionally, the threaded rods of the brackets will be tied to the bonding grid of the pool using the provided bonding
clamps and a # 8 solid copper wire (not provided by Endless Pools). Flexible PVC pipe is to be glued into the bushing
reducers on the backside of the Hydrostride bracket which will serve as conduits for the hydraulic lines.
After the gunite and nish coat application, the mounting brackets should end up in the middle of the nished pool wall
as shown in Figure 4A.2. The PVC couplings of the Hydrostride mounting bracket should extend no more than 1/2"
(12,7mm) into the nished pool. The coupling nuts of the grab bar mounting bracket MUST be ush with the nished
pool wall. The sacricial bolts will then be removed to mount the grab bar. The pool wall MUST be sharp with a max
radius of 4" (10,16cm). Any radius in the pool wall will require a modication to the end covers of the Hydrostride
to accommodate the radius.

2. Loosely position the Hydrostride mounting bracket into the rebar grid of the pool so that the bottom edge of the bracket is
5-1/4" (13,3cm) above the expected nished pool oor. The thickness of the gunite and nish coat MUST be accounted for
when positioning the bracket. If the Hydrostride is to be recessed into the pool oor, it’s recommended to pour a level con-
crete slab prior to positioning the bracket in the rebar. The slab will serve as the base of the recessed area that the unit will
sit in. Next, loosely position the grab bar mounting bracket into the rebar making sure it’s centered above the Hydrostride
bracket and at the appropriate height. The waterline mark on the bracket should sit along the pool’s expected waterline
(Fig. 4A.6).
Once both mounting brackets are positioned, tie the threaded rods to the rebar grid with rebar wire. Make sure both brack-
ets are level (Fig. 4A.6). If installing a Fastlane Pro in conjunction with the Hydrostride, the Fastlane Pro mounting
bracket should be installed at this time. Refer to the Fastlane Pro Owner’s Manual for detailed information.

3. The location of the Hydraulic Power Unit should be determined at this point in the installation. Unroll lengths of 1-1/2"
(38mm) exible PVC pipe from the back of the Hydrostride mounting bracket to the Power Unit. The conduit run MUST
travel above the pool’s waterline. Any bends in the exible pipe MUST be gradual sweeps and not sharp to allow the
hydraulic hoses to easily be fed through each conduit.
If the Hydraulic Power Unit is within 25' (7,6m) of the pool: Each length of exible pipe should exit the ground within
4' (1,2m) of the Power Unit. Approximately 4' (1,2m) of hydraulic hose is required to make the hydraulic connections at
the Power Unit.
If the Hydraulic Power Unit is more than 25' (7,6m) away from pool: 25' (7,6m) of exible pipe, a junction box, and
an additional length of exible pipe MUST be employed. It is at the junction box where a step up to a larger diameter hy-
draulic hose occurs to reduce pressure loss and a potential reduction in performance. In this case, the length of exible pipe
between the Hydrostride mounting bracket and junction box MUST be 24' 6" (7,5m). This will allow the hydraulic hoses
to terminate just inside the junction box. An additional length of exible pipe coming out of the junction box should exit
the ground within 4' (1,2m) of the Power Unit. See Section 5: Junction Box for detailed information.

5.3 The next step is the gunite application. Prior to shooting gunite, it is CRITICAL that the openings of the PVC couplings,
threaded rods, and sacricial bolts be covered. Gunite cannot be embedded in these areas. It is also CRITICAL that ALL
bonding connections are secured. It’s important to closely monitor the mounting brackets during the gunite applica-
tion to ensure they remain in position and remain level.
After the gunite is shot up to the back of the mounting template, the template can be removed and the nish coat can be
applied. Again, the PVC couplings of the Hydrostride mounting bracket should extend a maximum of 1/2" (12,7mm) into
the nished pool. The coupling nuts of the grab bar mounting bracket should be ush with the nished pool wall, leaving
the sacricial bolts just inside the nished pool wall for removal (Fig. 4A.11). Proceed to Section 6: Hydrostride Assem-
bly.

5.4 If the Hydrostride is to be recessed into the pool oor, it’s recommended to construct a mold using plywood, lumber, and
the provided mounting template. The intent of the mold is to form the recessed area in the pool oor during the applica-
tion of the gunite as shown in Figure 4A.12. The height of the mold is intended to allow for a nish coat of approximately
5/8" (15mm) over the gunite outside the recessed area to become ush with the side decks of the unit. A clearance of 12"
(30,48cm) is recommended for the removal of the mold.

5.5 Construct the treadmill mold using plywood and lumber as shown in Figure 4A.13. It’s recommended to cut lifting holes
into the top piece of plywood to assist with the removal of the mold. IMPORTANT NOTE: The height of the tread-
mill side decks is approximately 4-5/8" (12cm). In the example below, the height of the mold is 4" (10,2cm) which
allows for a nish coat of approximately 5/8" (15mm) outside the recessed area. The thickness of the nish coat
MUST be considered when constructing the mold.

5.8 Adjust the position of the mold on the threaded rods so that the PVC couplings extend a maximum of 1/2” (12,7mm)
past the front of the mounting template. Use the additional at washers and jam nuts to secure the mold in place during
the gunite application. The back of the template represents the gunite pool wall. Once gunite is shot to the back of the
template, the mold will be removed prior to the nish coat application. The height of the nished pool oor (concrete slab
and nish coat) MUST NOT exceed the bottom of the template (Fig. 4A.16).

5.9 The next step is the gunite application. Prior to shooting gunite, it is CRITICAL that the openings of the PVC couplings,

After the gunite is shot up to the back of the mounting template, the mold can be removed and the nish coat can be
applied outside the recessed area. The recessed area should be sealed with an appropriate hydraulic cement without
adding height to the oor. Again, the PVC couplings of the Hydrostride mounting bracket should extend a maximum of
1/2” (12,7mm) into the nished pool. The coupling nuts of the grab bar mounting bracket should be ush with the nished
