ESQ BY MOVADO WA CHES
The finest watches in the world are made in
Switzerland, where time-keeping technology
was developed and perfected, and where
watchmaking techniques grew into an art.
Manufactured by Movado and crafted to the
highest standards of Swiss quality and
design, water-resistant ESQ by Movado
watches feature precise Swiss-engineered
movements, scratch-resistant sapphire or
mineral crystals and exceptional details usu-
ally reserved for timepieces costing far
more.
Congratulations on your ESQ by Movado
watch purchase.

Shock
All ESQ by Movado watches have shock-
resistant movements, and are tested to
meet international standards for shock
resistance.
Magnetism
The exposure of your ESQ by Movado quartz
watch to a strong magnetic field will affect
its time-keeping and may cause it to stop.
However, it should resume working with
original accuracy when removed from the
magnetic field.
Leather Straps
ESQ by Movado watch straps are fashioned
from high quality natural and embossed
leathers. While the life-span of a leather
watch strap will depend on your care, wear-
ing habits, and the climate in which you live,
proper care will extend it.
Keep your leather watch strap dry. Exposure
to water may cause a strap to become brittle
8 9
CARE AND MAIN ENANCE
Like any finely crafted mechanism, your
ESQ by Movado watch requires periodic
maintenance for optimal performance.
Maintenance includes complete disassem-
bly, cleaning, reassembly and lubrication of
the movement. A maintenance interval of 3
to 5 years is recommended, in addition to
any required battery replacement.
Never open the watch yourself: dust or mois-
ture could enter the case and affect the func-
tioning of the movement. If your watch needs
repair or adjustment, return it directly to ESQ
by Movado or one of its authorized service
centers. See the back pages of this booklet
or visit www.esqbymovado.com for a
complete list.
NOTE: ESQ by Movado assumes responsibility
only for service performed at its Authorized
Service Centers.

10 11
Your ESQ by Movado watch is fitted with a
series of gaskets and a specially designed
crown which seal the watch and prevent
moisture from entering the case. Because
the gaskets and crown are subject to wear
and deterioration under normal use, these
parts should be inspected, and replaced as
needed, each time the watch is opened for
service, including battery changes.
The case must also be tested with specialized
equipment to insure that the proper seal has
been reestablished. We recommend that you
take or send the watch to an ESQ by Movado
Authorized Service Center to have this rou-
tine, periodic maintenance performed. See
the end of this booklet for a complete list.
CAUTION: Manufacturer will not be responsi-
ble for any damage caused by or related to
leakage which originated from improper han-
dling or damage to the case, crown, gaskets
or crystal.
and eventually break.
To preserve the finish of the leather, contact
with perfumes should be avoided.
NOTE: ESQ by Movado watch straps are not
covered by the ESQ by Movado watch warranty.
Water Resistance
All ESQ by Movado watches are tested to meet
international standards for water resistance.
Most models are water resistant to 3 ATM, so
faucet spray or rain won’t hurt them as long as
the case, crown and crystal remain intact.
Certain sport models are water resistant to
even greater depths, as indicated on their dials.
You may wear models that are water resistant
to 5 ATM while showering, swimming or
snorkeling. Equipped with screw-down crowns,
ESQ by Movado sport watches that are water
resistant to 30 ATM may be worn while
snorkeling or shallow water scuba diving, but
not for deep sea diving.

BA ERY INFORMA ION
Your ESQ by Movado watch has a 1.55 volt
silver oxide watch battery that will last
approximately 24 to 36 months. It is important
to use only the replacement battery recom-
mended by ESQ by Movado. Many so-called
“interchangeable” batteries may not work
properly in your watch or might damage it.
End-of-life Feature
The seconds hand on some ESQ by Movado
watches will start to advance haltingly in
4-second increments when the battery is
almost exhausted, signaling the need to
replace it within a week or two. Do not
attempt to change the battery yourself. Take
or send your watch to an ESQ by Movado
Authorized Service Center. See the end of
this booklet, or visit www.esqbymovado.com
for a complete listing.

movement of your automatic timepiece
wound. However, if you have not worn your
watch for several days, and the movement
has stopped, you will need to wind it by
hand before resetting the time:
1. With crown in position 1, flush against the
case, turn crown clockwise, completing
approximately 20 revolutions.
2. Reset time and date following instructions
above.
3. Push crown back in to position 1, flush
against case.

This watch features an oversized date win-
dow with two single-digit disks that rotate
independently of one another.
Each day, during the calendar “jump phase”
– the hours between 10:00 pm and 12:00
midnight – the date will change automatically.
NOTE: The date may be adjusted manually
during these hours; however it must be set
to the following day: the date will not auto-
matically change at midnight if it has been
manually adjusted during the jump phase.
To manually adjust Big Date display:
(see Figure 4)
1. Pull crown out to position 2. (Watch will
continue to run)
2. Turn crown clockwise until correct digit
appears in each of the two Big Date windows.
3. Push crown back in to position 1, flush
against case.

Chronograph:
After changing the battery, or in the event of
an error, the chronograph hands can be
realigned to zero if needed. A single push
(quick press and release) of button Awill
advance the selected hand by one increment.
To advance hand rapidly, depress and hold
push button Afor longer than one second.
1. Pull crown out to position 3.
2. Press and hold buttons Aand Bsimulta-
neously for at least 2 seconds to enter cor-
rective mode: Center-mounted chronograph
hand Cwill rotate 360º, indicating mode has
been activated.
3. Adjust chronograph seconds hand Cusing
button A.
4. Press button B.
5. Adjust tenths-of-a-second counter Gusing
button A.
NOTE: On ESQ by Movado Big Date
Chronograph models, tenths-of-a-second
counter Gwill run continuously for the first
30 seconds after the chronograph feature is
engaged, then return to 0 and remain on 0
until chronograph is stopped. When chrono-
graph is stopped, hand Gwill advance to
indicate elapsed tenths-of-a-second like any
standard quartz chronograph. If the chrono-
graph runs for more than 30 minutes, then
tenths-of-a-second hand Gwill become an
hour-recorder, measuring 10 hours per one
complete rotation.
To operate Big Date Chronograph:
For Chronograph function overview, Simple
chronograph functions, Accumulated time
functions, Split-time or intermediate time
functions, and First-place and runner-up

2. Turn crown to move hour hand Hahead or
back after crossing into another zone, or to cor-
rect for daylight savings/standard time change.
3. To change date D, advance hour hand H

will change at noon.
These adjustments will not stop the watch
and do not affect the time indicated by the
minute and seconds hands.
4. Once adjustments have been made,
immediately return crown to position 1.
Chronograph Function Overview
Use buttons Aand Bto operate the chrono-
graph. Pressing button Athe first time will
start the chronograph. While the chrono-
graph is running, once the chronograph sec-
onds counter hand Chas completed one turn,
A chronograph combines two time-keeping
functions. It incorporates a device to meas-
ure intervals of time independent of the reg-
ular time shown on the dial.
Adjusting the time:
1. As soon as small seconds hand Sreaches
<<60>> position, pull crown out to position 3.
The watch will stop.
2. Turn crown to move hands and set time,
making sure date changes at midnight, not
noon.
3. Move hands slightly ahead of exact time,
then slowly turn crown counterclockwise to
align minute hand with correct minute marker.
4. Take an accurate time signal (from a radio
news station, for example). When audible
tone signals exact time, immediately push
crown back in to position 1. Watch will
restart, now set to the exact time.

started. Press button Bto reset hands to zero.
Do not push button Aor Bwhile crown is
pulled to position 2 or 3. If button Aor Bis

ROTATING BEZEL
Some ESQ by Movado sport models feature
an engraved, unidirectional bezel for measuring
elapsed time. The bezel turns counterclock-
wise only. It can be used, for example, to
monitor the number of minutes left on a
parking meter:
1. Align the marker (triangle or dot) on the
bezel with the current position of the minute
hand.
2. As the minute hand advances around the
dial, the engraved number which it points to
on the bezel indicates exactly how many
minutes (1 to 59) have passed since you
began the timing.
3. When not in use, turn bezel counterclock-
wise until marker is aligned at 12 o’clock.
5. Press button B; hands will move up to

(quick press and release) will advance hands
by one increment. To advance hands rapidly,
depress and hold push buttons for longer
than one second.
