ESQ SWISS WATCHES
The finest watches in the world are made in
Switzerland, where time-keeping technology
was developed and perfected, and where
watchmaking techniques grew into an art.
Manufactured by Movado and crafted to the
highest standards of Swiss quality and
design, water-resistant ESQ SWISS watches
feature precise Swiss-engineered move-
ments, scratch-resistant mineral crystals and
exceptional details usually reserved for time-
pieces costing far more.
Congratulations on your ESQ SWISS watch
purchase.

8
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Like any finely crafted mechanism, your ESQ
SWISS watch requires periodic maintenance
for optimal performance.
Maintenance includes complete disassembly,
cleaning, reassembly and lubrication of the
movement. A maintenance interval of 3 to 5
years is recommended, in addition to any
required battery replacement.
Never open the watch yourself: dust or mois-
ture could enter the case and affect the func-
tioning of the movement. If your watch needs
repair or adjustment, return it directly to ESQ
SWISS or one of its authorized service cen-
ters. See the back pages of this booklet or
visit
www.esqswiss.com
for a complete list.
NOTE: ESQ SWISS assumes responsibility
only for service performed at its Authorized
Service Centers.

9
Shock
All ESQ SWISS watches have shock-resistant
movements, and are tested to meet interna-
tional standards for shock resistance.
Magnetism
The exposure of your ESQ SWISS quartz
watch to a strong magnetic field will affect its
time-keeping and may cause it to stop.
However, it should resume working with orig-
inal accuracy when removed from the mag-
netic field.
Leather Straps
ESQ SWISS watch straps are fashioned from
high quality natural and embossed leathers.
While the life-span of a leather watch strap
will depend on your care, wearing habits,
and the climate in which you live, proper
care will extend it.
Keep your leather watch strap dry. Exposure
to water may cause a strap to become brittle
and eventually break.

10
To preserve the finish of the leather, contact
with perfumes should be avoided.
NOTE: ESQ SWISS watch straps are not cov-
ered by the ESQ SWISS watch warranty.
Water Resistance
All ESQ SWISS watches are tested to meet
international standards for water resistance.
Most models are water resistant to 3 ATM, so
faucet spray or rain won’t hurt them as long
as the case, crown and crystal remain intact.
Certain sport models are water resistant to
even greater depths, as indicated on their
dials. You may wear models that are water
resistant to 5 ATM while showering, swim-
ming or snorkeling. Equipped with screw-
down crowns, ESQ SWISS sport watches
that are water resistant to 30 ATM may be
worn while snorkeling or shallow water scuba
diving, but not for deep sea diving.

11
Your ESQ SWISS watch is fitted with a series
of gaskets and a specially designed crown
which seal the watch and prevent moisture
from entering the case. Because the gaskets
and crown are subject to wear and deteriora-
tion under normal use, these parts should be
inspected, and replaced as needed, each
time the watch is opened for service, includ-
ing battery changes.
The case must also be tested with specialized
equipment to insure that the proper seal has
been reestablished. We recommend that you
take or send the watch to an ESQ SWISS
Authorized Service Center to have this rou-
tine, periodic maintenance performed. See
the end of this booklet for a complete list.
CAUTION: Manufacturer will not be responsi-
ble for any damage caused by or related to
leakage which originated from improper han-
dling or damage to the case, crown, gaskets
or crystal.

12
BATTERY INFORMATION
Your ESQ SWISS watch has a 1.55 volt silver
oxide watch battery that will last approxi-
mately 24 to 36 months. It is important to
use only the replacement battery recom-
mended by ESQ SWISS. Many so-called
“interchangeable” batteries may not work
properly in your watch or might damage it.
End-of-life Feature
The seconds hand on some ESQ SWISS
watches will start to advance haltingly in 4-
second increments when the battery is
almost exhausted, signaling the need to
replace it within a week or two. Do not
attempt to change the battery yourself. Take
or send your watch to an ESQ SWISS
Authorized Service Center. See the end of
this booklet, or visit
www.esqswiss.com
for
a complete listing.

16
To manually wind an automatic
movement:
The motion of your arm during normal daily
activities should be sufficient to keep the
movement of your automatic timepiece
wound. However, if you have not worn your
watch for several days, and the movement
has stopped, you will need to wind it by
hand before resetting the time:
1. With crown in position 1, flush against the
case, turn crown clockwise, completing
approximately 20 revolutions.
2. Reset time and date following instructions
above.
3. Push crown back in to position 1, flush
against case.

Position 2 - Position for QUICK CHANGE of
BIG DATE. Rotate crown clock-
wise. (Watch continues to run)
Position 3 - To set TIME: Rotate crown in

18
This watch features an oversized date win-
dow with two single-digit disks that rotate
independently of one another.
Each day, during the calendar “jump phase” –
the hours between 10:00 pm and 12:00
midnight – the date will change automatically.
NOTE: The date may be adjusted manually
during these hours; however it must be set
to the following day: the date will not auto-
matically change at midnight if it has been
manually adjusted during the jump phase.
To manually adjust Big Date display:
(see Figure 4)
1. Pull crown out to position 2. (Watch will con-
tinue to run)
2.Turn crown clockwise until correct digit
appears in each of the two Big Date windows.
3. Push crown back in to position 1, flush
against case.

RETROGRADE DAY
Figure 5
Crown Positions:

Date*: Rotate crown counter-
clockwise. (Watch continues to
run)

*NOTES: The Big Date will change automati-
cally each day during the calendar “jump
phase”, between the hours of 11:00 pm and
1:00 am. The date may be adjusted manually
during these hours; however it must be set
to the following day: the date will not auto-
matically change at midnight if it has been
manually adjusted during the jump phase.
Extremely rapid advancement of Big Date
display during Quick Change mode may
result in incorrect date being displayed. To
resynchronize Big Date, pull crown out to
position 2 and turn it counterclockwise,
cycling from 01 past 31 to correct date.

21
To manually adjust Retrograde Day
indication:
(see Figure 5)
1. Pull crown out to position 3.
2. Turn crown clockwise; each 24-hour cycle
of hour/minute hands will advance
Retrograde Day hand by one day.
3. When correct Day of week indication has
been reached, push crown back in to posi-
tion 1, flush against case.
