Thank you for purchasing the Ultra-Thin Digital Kitchen Scale by Etekcity. With
a capacity of 13 lb. (6 kg), it is great for measuring all sorts of ingredients in
the kitchen. Cooking and baking are made simple with this very thin, cordless
scale. An auto-shut off function improves the lifetime of the batteries for many
consistent, accurate uses.
IMPORTANT: Please read and comply with all the instructions and warnings
provided in this manual before using the product. Failure to comply with the
instructions and warnings provided herein may result in inaccurate results and/or
damage to the product itself.
The included AAA batteries are preinstalled in the scale. Open the battery
compartment cover located on the backside of the scale and remove the plastic
strip from the battery compartment to allow the batteries to power the device.

Safety Use & Care
•Always place the scale on a hard, dry and flat surface before measurement in
order to ensure accurate measurements.
•For best results, place the object being measured in the center of the scale.
•Dirt, dust, vibration, wind, air currents, and electromagnetic interference may
contribute to inaccurate results.
•DO NOT exceed the 13 lb (6 kg) weight capacity; Doing so may damage the
scale. An overload indicator will appear on the LCD display if the limit is
exceeded.
•DO NOT immerse the scale in water or corrosive liquids. If liquid is spilled on
the scale platform, immediately wipe the scale clean with a soft cloth in order
to avoid potential damage to the scale.
•DO NOT mix new and used batteries to power the device.
•Avoid exposing the device to damp environments or extreme temperatures.
•When replacing batteries, make sure to insert them under the correct polarity
as indicated within the battery compartment.
•If the low battery indicator is displayed, please replace the batteries.
•This scale is not intended for commercial or heavy-duty use.
•Handle the scale with care. Keep the scale in a cool, dry environment.
•To clean, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth.
•If the scale is not in use for an extended period of time, take out the batteries
to extend the scale service lifetime.
•If the scale fails to turn on, check if the batteries are installed correctly.
Replace the batteries if necessary.

Error Messages
•An “Err” message on the LCD means there is too much weight on the scale.
Remove the load from the scale to prevent damage.
•If a flashing battery icon appears, replace the batteries. When the batteries run
out of power, the scale will display “Lo” and shut off.
Operation
1. The battery is included in the scale within the battery compartment. Remove
the insulating strip before use.
2. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the scale.
3. The default unit for the scale is lb oz. To change the unit of measurement,
press the UNIT button until desired unit is displayed.
4. The scale will display zero when it is ready to use. If it does not show zero,
press and release the ON/OFF button to reset the scale.
5. Place the object to be weighed on the scale platform. The LCD screen with
display its weight.
6. To turn off the scale, press the hold the ON/OFF button for at least 3 seconds.
The scale will also turn off after 2 minutes of inactivity.
Tare Function
The tare function allows the user to weigh the contents of a container by simply
calculating out the container’s weight.
1. Place an empty container on the scale and press the “ON/OFF” button.
2. The scale will reduce down to zero with the container still on the scale.
3. Place the contents to be weighed in the container, the weight of the contents
will be displayed on the LCD screen.
Calibrating the Scale
NOTE: It is only necessary to calibrate the scale when it is displaying obviously
incorrect readings. The scale is calibrated out of the box and does not require
calibration for every use.
1. To calibrate the scale, press and hold the UNIT and ON/OFF buttons at the
same time.
2. Random digits will appear on the LCD screen. When these numbers are
displayed, release both buttons simultaneously.
3. Please press ON/OFF button again quickly. The scale will display “2 kg” on the
screen. Once this is displayed, place a 2 kg weight on the scale.
4. The scale will then display “5 kg". When this appears on the screen, place a 5 kg
weight on the scale.
5. If the calibration is successful, “PASS” will appear on the display. If not, you
may need to repeat the calibration process.
Battery Replacement
1. Open the battery compartment cover on the backside of the scale.
2. Take out the used batteries and dispose them properly.
3. Install new AAA 1.5 V batteries, taking note of the correct polarity displayed in
Function Diagram
