The unit is powered by non grounded power adapter. When
connecting to sensitive external equipment eg. Pre-amp, users
should insure that the product is switched off before connecting.
Unit also should be installed away from any grounded equip-
ment to avoid electrical shock.

Preparing The Remote For Use
Grip the plastic piece on the bottom of the remote unit and pull
it out. If the battery drains replace it with a CR/DL2025.

Installing The Backup Batteries
[1.1]
Remove the rubber pad from the bottom of the radio and
install 4 AA alkaline batteries [not included] following the
installation diagram inside the battery compartment [1.1].
These batteries back up the time and alarm set in the
radio in case of a power failure. Replace the rubber pad
once they’re installed. In case of a power failure, if you
have backup batteries in the radio, the display will show
“CHECK POWER”. The batteries will keep the display and
clock running for about 8 hours if the power fails.

! Note regarding batteries ! Only use alkaline batteries. Do
not mix different brands or types of batteries. Change your
batteries once every six months. Check the batteries once
a month to make sure that they have not leaked. Damage
caused by leaked batteries is not covered by warranty.
Powering The Radio
Plug the Power Cord into a mains [AC] outlet, then into the
13.5 VDC, positive polarity socket on the back of the radio.
For best results on AM and SW reception, the power sup-
ply should be positioned away from the radio.
When the power cord is first plugged in or the ON/OFF
button is given a quick press the display turns on into ON
mode [2.1]. Using a quick press of the ON/OFF button will
place it into STANDBY mode, with the time of day in the
display [2.2]. Using a longer press, about 4 seconds, of the
ON/OFF button will clear the display and turn everything OFF.

Volume Control
The volume is controlled with the volume knob or the VOL +
− buttons on the remote. Turning the volume + increases the
volume; − decreases volume. While adjusting the volume, VOL-
UME SETTING appears in the display, with the volume number,
0−30 under it [3.1 & 3.2].

Muting The Radio
To mute the audio while it is playing, use a quick press of
the remote’s MUTE button [4.1] or the radio’s SNOOZE
button [4.2].

Using Headphones/Earphones
Before placing Earphone/Headphone in/on your ears, turn
the volume all the way down. Use Headphone/Earphone
with a 3.5 mm [1/8th inch] stereo plug. Plug them into the
earphone socket on the back of the radio [5.1 & 5.2].
Selecting the Operating Mode (iPod, XM, FM, AM,
SW, DAB OR AUX)

After turning on the radio, look at the display [6.1] and either
turn the MODE control on the radio [6.1], or use sequential
presses of the remote’s MODE buttons [6.2] to select the mode
and then press ENTER or wait 5 seconds.

Audio Setting
Listen to some music you like. Press SET [7.1], highlight AUDIO
SETTING with the UP/DOWN buttons [7.2 & 7.3] and press
ENTER. TREBLE is highlighted [7.4]. Press ENTER, select the
desired treble [+5 to −5] with the UP/DOWN buttons and press
ENTER. Select BASS with the UP/DOWN buttons and press
ENTER. Select the desired bass setting [+5 to –5] with the UP/
DOWN buttons and press ENTER. Press SET when finished.
While making these settings you’ll be able to hear the changes
you make.

iPod Use
Place an iPod into the dock. It immediately starts charging.
Select iPod by pressing the MODE buttons, highlight-
ing iPod and pressing ENTER [8.1] or highlight it with
the radio’s PRESET/TUNING knob [8.2] and it will enter
automatically. The iPod in the dock immediately turns on
and can be controlled with the keys below.
− MENU: use to navigate the iPod menu.
− UP/DOWN: use to make selections in the menu.
− ENTER: use to enter the selection.
− REPEAT: use to repeat playback.
− SHUFFLE: use to shuffle playback.
− |<< or >>| buttons: >>| select the next song [one press]; |<<
repeat the track you’re on [one press]; |<< go back to the last
song [double−press]; scan backwards or forward through a
song [long press].
− >| button – quick press temporarily stops play at point on
track, with quick press resume; long press [about 3 seconds]
shuts off iPod at track, with a quick press resume.

* For iPod Shuffle user, please use AUX IN to connect to the
unit. Remote control will not be effective on iPod Shuffle.

XM Radio Tuning [Only P´9121]
To use XM satellite radio you must first purchase an XM an-
tenna and subscribe. To subscribe and register your radio, go
to www.xmradio.com or call XM Radio at 1−800−967−2346.
To purchase an XM antenna use an Internet search engine and
type in ‘XM home antenna’. At the time of this writing the cor-
rect antenna is the Audiovox CNP2000 and CNP2000H.
Plug in the XM antenna [9.1] and select XM [9.2]. The XM
[9.1] [9.2] [9.3] [9.4]
symbol appears briefly in the display [9.3], then the system
tunes to channel 1, XM Preview [9.4]. Contact XM Radio
to subscribe. XM Radio will give you further instructions.
When you register have your antenna with you, as they will
ask for your Radio ID from the antenna.

Tuning XM Channels [Only P´9121]
Tune channels [10.1] with the |<< or >>| key and press EN-
TER, or rotate the PRESET/TUNING knob [10.2]. Pressing
ENTER is not necessary when using the PRESET/TUNING
knob, just wait 3 seconds for automatic entry, as shown
below.

Selecting XM Station Groups [Only P´9121]
Use the remote’s UP/DOWN key to select station groups
[11.1]. Once selected, use the |<< or >>| key to choose chan-
nels and press ENTER, or the PRESET/TUNING knob to chose
the desired station [11.2]. Pressing ENTER is not necessary
when using the PRESET/TUNING knob, just wait 3 seconds for
automatic entry, as shown below.

Entering Direct And Preset Modes For XM [Only P´9121]
It’s important to know how to go into DIRECT and PRESETA/
PRESETB modes on the remote when using Direct XM Chan-
nel Entry, storing channels into memory and retrieving chan-
nels from memory. Press and release the remote’s DIRECT
key to enter one of these modes. When DIRECT shows in the
display, it’s in DIRECT mode for directly entering XM channels;
when PRESETA or PRESETB are in the display, you can store
10 memories into PRESETA or PRESETB.
Direct XM Channel Number Entry [Only P´9121]
Enter DIRECT mode on the remote. To directly enter a
channel number, punch in the number, using the numeric
keypad [12.1]. You may have to wait a few seconds for the
channel to appear. The channel you are on appears in the
display.

Memorizing XM Channels Into Memory [Only P´9121]
You can store 20 XM channels into memory, 10 into PRE-
SETA and 10 into PRESETB.
To store with the remote [13.1]: Select an XM channel that
you wish to store into memory [13.2]. Go into PRESETA or
PRESETB mode. Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to
store the stations into memory. For example, to store into
memory 1, press the 1 button for about three seconds.
To store using the radio’s controls, select an XM channel
that you wish to store into memory. Select PRESETA or
PRESETB using the remote, then press MEM sequentially
[13.3] or press MEM and use the PRESET/TUNING knob
to select the memory number you wish to store it into, then
press ENTER or wait for it to enter automatically.

Removing Antennas
An ‘F’ plug is the type used at the end of television coaxial
cable. Use the antenna tool to remove the telescopic
antenna [15.1]. Use the other end of it to screw the ‘F’ plug
into the ‘F’ socket where the telescopic antenna was con-
nected [15.2 & 15.3]. There are many such antennas on the
market for outdoor mounting and for indoor use, available
at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City, on the web and
many other stores.
Recalling XM Channels From Memory [Only P´9121]
Enter the PRESETA or PRESETB mode. Use a quick press and
release of the numeric button that represents the memory that
you wish to recall. For example, to recall memory number 1,
press and release the 1 button. To recall memory 10, press and
release the 10 button [14.1].
To recall with the radio’s controls, select PRESETA or PRE-
SETB with the remote and then use the radio’s PRESET/TUN-
ING knob to select the desired memory, then press ENTER or
wait for it to enter automatically [14.2].

Using DAB Mode (P´9122, P´9123, P´9124 only)
When the set is first turned on, it will do a QUICK SCAN for
DAB stations in your area [16.1]. You should fully extend
the telescopic antenna before the scan. When the scan
is finished , an list of all the available stations is created in
alphabetical order, and the set will tune to the first station
on the list [16.2].

To tune the DAB stations either use the tuning control, or the
UP/DOWN buttons to display the next station on the list. If you
wait for 2 seconds, the new station will be tuned in.
You can save a total of 20 presets in memory in 2 banks: Pre-
set A and Preset B. You can select between the 2 banks on the
remote by pressing the DIRECT button.

Secondary Services: Some DAB stations have “secondary
services” associated with the station. This is another channel,
which may be only available at some times for special pro-
grams like sports events. When a secondary service is avail-
able a “>” symbol will show on the display [16.3]. If you press
ENTER, the set will tune to the secondary service. The display
will show the secondary service tuned and the total number
or secondary services [16.4]. Press ENTER again to tune other
secondary services or to return to the primary service.
Display of other information: The display will show scrolling
text with the DAB station on the bottom line of the display.
You can display other information about the DAB service
such as channel operator, time and date, program type and
bitrate by pressing the ENTER button repeatedly.

Using External AM Antennas (P´9121, P´9125, P´9127,
P´9128 only)

External AM antennas can be plugged into the ‘AM Ant.’
socket on the back of the radio [17.1]. This socket utilizes
a mono 3.5 mm [1/8th inch] plug. For best results, the
antenna should be positioned away from metal objects and
the power supply of the radio.
Auto−Tuning FM, AM or SW (P´9121, P´9125, P´9127,
P´9128 only)

Turn on the radio, select FM, AM or SW with the MODE but-
tons and press ENTER [18.1], or tune with the band selector
knob. Auto−tune UP or DOWN frequency with a quick press of
the UP or DOWN buttons. Auto−tuning automatically stops on
the next available frequency with a station [18.2]. Auto−tune
can be stopped by pressing the ENTER button.

Manually Tuning FM, AM or SW
Turn on the radio, select FM, AM or SW with either MODE
button and press ENTER, or tune with the band selector knob
[19.1]. Move up or down frequency by sequentially pressing
the |<< or >>|buttons. By keeping the buttons pressed, you
will move up or down frequency at a more rapid rate.
Entering Direct And Preset Modes For FM, AM and SW
(P´9121, P´9125, P´9127, P´9128 only)

It’s important to know how to go into DIR and PRE modes
when on FM, AM and SW using Direct Frequency Entry
and storing frequencies into memory. Press and release
the remote’s DIR key to enter one of these modes. When
DIR shows in the display, it’s in DIRECT mode; when PRE
shows in the display it’s in PRESET mode [20.1].
