INTRODUCTION
“EUREKA S.p.a.”, leading industrial cleaning machine
manufacturer, is delighted to welcome you to the ranks of
XTREMA sweeper owners and it trusts that you will get the
greatest satisfaction from the use of the machine. We are certain
that while using the machine you will have the opportunity to see
the quality, solidity and possibilities for use for yourselves. The
XTREMA sweeper is ideal for large areas for private, industrial or
public uses. Described in this manual are various installation,
checking and maintenance operations necessary for keeping your
sweeper in tip top condition. These are normal maintenance
measures that any operator will be able to carry out with
implements that he or she should normally have in the company. In
the case of particularly demanding work, please call in specialised
help.
OUR COMPANY AIMS AT THE CONSTANT IMPROVEMENT OF ITS
PRODUCTS AND RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS
AND IMPROVEMENTS WHEN IT CONSIDERS IT ADVISABLE WITHOUT
BEING OBLIGED TO UPGRADE PREVIOUSLY SOLD MACHINES WITH
SAID IMPROVEMENTS AND MODIFICATIONS.

EUREKA sweepers conform with the EEC directives and show the CE mark.

THE MACHINE IS NOT APPROVED FOR CIRCULATION ON THE
ROAD.
BEFORE USING THE MACHINE OR CARRYING OUT ANY OPERATION ON IT, ALL
THE PROCEDURES AND WARNINGS DESCRIBED IN THIS MANUAL MUST BE
READ AND UNDERSTOOD.
RIGOROUS COMPLIANCE WITH THE REGULATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS
CONTAINED IN IT, TOGETHER WITH THE OPERATOR’S ATTENTION AND
PRUDENCE WILL BE THE BEST GUARANTEE AGAINST ACCIDENTS THAT COULD
OCCUR AT WORK.

ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS.
OPERATORS WHO DO NOT KNOW THE REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES
CONTAINED IN THIS MANUAL MUST BE PREVENTED FROM USING THE
MACHINE.
THE SWEEPER HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED FOR TOWN AND INDUSTRIAL
CLEANING OPERATIONS WITH THE COLLECTION OF MATERIAL AND ITS
DISPOSAL.
THE USER’S MANUAL IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SWEEPER AND MUST
ACCOMPANY IT UNTIL THE SWEEPER IS DEMOLISHED.
PURSUANT TO DIRECTIVE 89/392 CE, PRESIDENTIAL DECREE 459 DATED
24/07/1996 AND LATER MODIFICATIONS NOTICE IS GIVEN THAT:
OPERATOR IS INTENDED TO MEAN THE PERSON(S) ASSIGNED TO INSTALL,
OPERATE, ADJUST, CARRY OUT ORDINARY SERVICING, CLEAN, REPAIR AND
TRANSPORT THE MACHINE.
EUREKA S.p.a. WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS, BREAKAGE,
ACCIDENTS OR OTHER OCCURRENCES DUE TO THE IGNORANCE OF OR THE
NON-APPLICATION OF THE PROCEDURES CONTAINED IN THIS MANUAL OR TO
THE IMPROPER USE OF THE MACHINE.

THIS SYMBOL HIGHLIGHTS ALL THE OPERATIONS THAT REPRESENT A
POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION FOR THE OPERATOR
IT IS THEREFORE NECESSARY TO ADHERE CLOSELY TO THE
CONDITIONS SHOWN BY THIS SYMBOL.
DANGER OF BURNING DUE TO VERY HOT SURFACES.
EAR PROTECTORS/PLUGS/MUFFLERS MUST BE WORN.
IN PARTICULAR ENVIRONMENTS OR WORKING CONDITIONS, SOME

EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
ONLY FIGHT FIRES WITH POWDER FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The machine must be cleaned by persons who have received proper instruction for the purpose, who know how to cut off
the sources of energy and who know the characteristics of the machine so as not to find themselves in a hazardous situation.
Clean the machine coverings, the panels and commands with cloths soaked in water or a detergent solution.
Solvents such as petrol, alcohol, etc. must not be used.
Call in specialised personnel to clean the electrical components. Said personnel should use products that are not corrosive
and are anyway suitable for electrical circuits.
Specialised personnel with thorough knowledge of the machine and its components must be called in to carry out
maintenance operations.
Any maintenance and cleaning operation must be carried out with the machine off, with all the mechanisms still, after the
hot sections have cooled down and with the battery disconnected.
When using compressed air guns for cleaning, protect the eyes and hair.
STORAGE THE MACHINE
If the machine is not used for a long period, it is essential:
- to keep the machine in a protected place
- to clean the machine inside and outside
- to keep the brushes raised to prevent the bristles getting malfunctioning
- to keep the dirt container down.
- to lock the machine in place with the parking brake
- to remove the key
- to remove the battery connector
PRECAUTIONS FOR THE SAFETY OF OPERATORS AND TECHNICIANS
- The machine must not be used by non-authorised personnel who have not been trained to use it properly or by people
who are under the influence of substances that could alter their nervous reflexes (alcohol, psycho pharmaceuticals, drugs
etc.)
- Do not use the machine in inflammable areas or where there is the danger of explosions
- Move the machine very slowly when the dirt container is raised.
- Do not collect material that is alight or anything else that could cause a fire.
(e.g. lit cigarettes).
- Do not remove protections or guards when the machine is in operation.
- Operate the machine from the driving position.
- Do not use the machine to clean objects.
- When maintaining the machine do not wear loose-fitting or unbuttoned clothing.
- A safety strut must be placed on the raising cylinder for any maintenance operation with the dirt container raised.
- Do not start to perform maintenance operations with parts in movement.
- Protect eyes and hair when using compressed air or water guns for cleaning the machine.
- Use devices to raise the machine that are adequate to bear the weight of the machine itself.
- Do not cause flames or sparks around the machine.
- Disconnect the battery cables before working on the electrical circuit.
-Avoid contact with battery acid, be careful of the hot parts: wait for them to cool down before starting work.
- Move carefully over uneven or crumbling paving and on slopes.
Do not exceed inclines of 15% in the direction of movement and inclines of 10% crossways to the direction of
movement.
- Pay attention when changing direction and or movement direction, slow down on bends to avoid tipping over.
Pay attention when raising the dirt container to empty it: the operation must be carried out on flat ground that is
not bumpy and brusque commands must not be given.

UPDATING OF THE USER’S MANUAL
When large-scale modifications are made to the machine or new parts are installed,
the updated documentation must be sent to the Dealer along with the purchased part
or as an update of the manual.
OBLIGATIONS OF THE EMPLOYER OR OWNER OF THE MACHINE
The employer or owner of the machine is responsible for giving the User’s Manual
to all the personnel who are going to have to use the machine.
The employer or owner of the machine also undertakes to update the manual with
the documentation that the Manufacturer will send if modifications are made to the
machine.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OPERATOR
- The operator must not work on wet floors
- The operator is responsible for the day-to-day servicing of the machine
- The operator must care for the machine and keep it in good operating condition
- The operator must inform his or her superior or the technical department when
scheduled maintenance is requested in the case of damage or breakage.
- The operator must not carry people, animals or objects on the machine.
- When moving the machine, observe the safety measures for circulation.
- The machine cannot be used for toxic-harmful materials.
- Never let people get close to the machine’s sphere of action.
- Never leave the sweeper with the key and the emergency switch inserted.
- Engage the hand brake.
- Never leave the dirt container in a raised position without the strut on the cylinder.
- If the machine malfunctions, have a look at the procedures shown in the various
chapters.
- Never collect pieces of string, wire or anything else that could damage the brushes
by winding around them.

DISPOSAL
SPENT OILS
Spent oils must not be thrown away into the environment under any circumstances.
They must be given to authorised Collectors in compliance with the regulations currently in
force.
Temporary storage must be inside watertight containers with sealed lid to avoid contact with
the environment and with rainwater.
The filters must also be given to authorised collectors and temporarily kept like the oils.
DEAD LEAD BATTERIES
Dead batteries must be considered harmful toxic waste, they must be given only to Collectors
with specific authorisation (to be checked at the time of consignment).
MATERIALS COLLECTED BY THE MACHINE
The rubbish collected by the machine must be given to town cleaning agencies as it is town
rubbish or similar.
- The machine cannot be used for collecting toxic-harmful materials.
SCRAPPING OF THE MACHINE
When the machine is to be scrapped, it is necessary to dispose of the materials the machine
consists of, properly.
It is compulsory to give the machine to authorised collectors who will see to the proper disposal
of: batteries, oils, filters, plastics, metals, electric engines, electric cards etc. in accordance with
the regulations currently in force.

TRANSPORT - HANDLING
TRANSPORT
The machine must be fixed to a pallet to make it easier to transport and more secure.
To unpack it, do the following:
- connect a ramp to the pallet as shown in the figure
- remove the wedge locking the front wheel in place and any other fixing materials; it is not necessary
to remove the wedges on the rear wheels.
- bring the machine down the ramp
The machine must be taken off the pallet by lifting it with a gantry crane or other suitable means
providing that belts, ropes and chains connected to the machine in the openings indicated in the figure
are used.
DO NOT REMOVE THE MACHINE FROM THE PALLET WITH A FORKLIFT TRUCK THAT
COULD DAMAGE IT.
HANDLING AND TRANSPORT
When the machine is moved from one place it is used in to another you are advised to:
- not load it on the vehicle with a forklift truck in order not to damage it
- lock the machine in place with the parking brake
- fix it well to the vehicle using belts, ropes and chains, securing it in the points indicated in the figure.
TOWING THE MACHINE OR MANUAL MOVEMENT
- Disconnect and remove the key, disconnect the battery
- Tow the machine using a suitable vehicle, securing it to the point shown at point 1 in the figure.
- Move the machine staying in control of the brake and the steering.
- THE MACHINE TOWING SPEED MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 2 TO 3 KM/H

CONTROL PANEL

BRUSH MOTOR AMPEROMETRIC PROTECTION
When the motors current absorption exceeds 125A for some minutes, the cut-out
switch intervenes and stops the motor.
When the cut-out switch intervenes, this means that the brushes turn with difficulty.
Check that the brushes and the rotation items are free.
TO START THE MOTOR UP AGAIN: Remove the key, wait for some minutes, push
the bottom until it is inserted and start up again

RED LED BRUSH MOTOR BRUSH WEAR
The led comes on and remains on when the brushes are worn

RED LED BRUSH MOTOR TEMPERATURE
When the internal temperature of the motor exceeds 85-95 °C the led comes on, the
motor cuts out and the alarm beeper starts to sound

GREEN LED OPERATION AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR TRACTION
MOTOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL
With the key inserted and everything working properly the led remains on. If it blinks, it
shows there is a failure or malfunction.

The led remains on when the brush is in operation.

Important: unless otherwise indicated on the order, the indicator features a standard setting
for lead-acid batteries.
In case different batteries are fitted (GEL, AGM, etc.) the setting must be changed to avoid
damaging the batteries. (SEE PAGE 36)

To stop the machine in an emergency and block all its functions, press the button. To
reset everything, pull the button up.

To stop the machine in emergencies, press the pedal

FORWARD MOVEMENT AND REVERSE MOVEMENT PEDALS
- ADVANCEMENT press the right-hand pedal
- REVERSE press the left-hand pedal
The machine brakes when the pedals are released (SERVICE BRAKE)
The pedal travel steadily regulates the speed

MAIN BRUSH LEVER
The brush is raised and lowered by operating the lever
This lever is fitted with a rack that makes it possible to regulate the operating
pressure
N.B. The main brush only works when:
The dirt container is lowered.
The dirt container door open
The lever is inserted
NB-THE MAIN BRUSH CUTS IN AFTER AROUND TEN SECONDS FROM
THE BRUSH MOTOR STARTING UP, EVEN IF IT IS LOWERED.

DIRT CONTAINER OPENING AND CLOSING LEVER
When the lever is moved forward or backwards, the door opens or closes.

DIRT CONTAINER RAISING AND LOWERING LEVER
When the lever is moved forwards or backwards, the dirt container is raised or
lowered

FILTER SHAKER AND SUCTION CLOSURE LEVER
When the lever is pushed forward, the suction opens. When it is pulled back, the
suction is closed. When it is pulled back even further, the filter cleaning shaker starts
up.

For the collection of light and bulky rubbish, raise the flap by means of the pedal

The seat can be adjusted backwards and forwards when the lever is moved towards
the right.

Press the pedal pos. 2
Turn the lever in pos.10 as far as possible in an anticlockwise direction and then let it

To release the brake, press the pedal in pos. 2 and turn the lever in pos. 10
in a clockwise direction.

USE OF THE MACHINE
EUREKA SWEEPERS MUST BE OPERATED BY PERSONNEL WHO ARE SUITABLY
TRAINED AND AUTHORISED.
THE SWEEPERS THAT ARE NOT IN FULL WORKING ORDER MUST BE REMOVED
FROM SERVICE.
THE SEAT IS FITTED WITH DIPSWITCH THAT PREVENTS IT BEING MOVED
FORWARD OR BACK IF THE OPERATOR IS NOT SITTING IN THE DRIVING SEAT.
BEFORE STARTING WORK CHECK THE WORKING OF THE DIPSWITCH
OPERATION
INSERT THE BATTERY CONNECTOR
SIT IN THE DRIVING SEAT
INSERT THE KEY
START UP THE BRUSH MOTOR
CHECK THAT THE LEDS ON THE DASHBOARD ARE NOT SIGNALLING ALARMS
CHECK THE STATE OF BATTERY CHARGE
OPEN THE RUBBISH CONTAINER DOOR IF IT IS CLOSED
LOWER THE DIRT CONTAINER IF IT IS RAISED
OPEN THE SUCTION WITH THE RELEVANT LEVER
LOWER THE MAIN BRUSH BY THREE NOTCHES IF IT IS NEW
LOWER THE SIDE BRUSHES
PRESS THE RIGHT-HAND PEDAL FOR ADVANCEMENT AND THE LEFT-HAND PEDAL FOR
REVERSE
IMPORTANT ADVICE
SLOW DOWN ON BENDS
VIBRATE THE FILTER OFTEN
DO NOT COLLECT ROPES, STRING, WIRE OR ANYTHING ELSE THAN CAN WIND UP
CHECK THE DUST GUARD SEALING OFTEN
ON PAVEMENTS BE CAREFUL OF ANYTHING STICKING FROM THE PAVING.
WHEN THE BRUSH MOTOR STOPS BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD, DO NOT CONTINUE,
RECHARGE THE BATTERY
IF IT IS POSSIBLE, UNLOAD THE DIRT FROM THE DIRT CONTAINER INTO A CONTAINER
INSTEAD OF ONTO THE GROUND.
DO NOT UNLOAD THE DIRT CONTAINER IF THE MACHINE IS NOT ON FLAT GROUND.

SUCTION CLOSURE CONTROL
THIS OPERATION MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO SAFEGUARD THE
POLYESTER FILTER.
With the lever in Pos. 1 turned forwards, the suction is open
When you pull it back, it is closed.
FILTER SHAKER CONTROL
By pulling the lever Pos. 1 back fully, the shaker for cleaning the filter is
started.
NB –THE QUALITY OF THE SWEEPER’S WORK DEPENDS VERY
LARGELY ON HOW CLEAN THE FILTER IS.
FOR THIS REASON, YOU ARE ADVISED TO SHAKE IT OFTEN,
PARTICULARLY IF THE SURFACE TO SWEEP IS VERY DUSTY.
The filter can be cleaned in two ways:
WITH THE MOTOR OFF
Turn the key to pos. 2 and pull the lever right back for 5-10 seconds and
then release it. Repeat the operation 2-3 times.
AUTOMATICALLY (OPTIONAL)
The sweeper can be fitted with an automatic filter shaker system.
This filter starts to work in accordance with the turning off of the sweeper
and the vibration time can be regulated.
IF THE FILTER BOX IS RAISED, THE TWO VIBRATION
SYSTEMS DO NOT WORK.
