The Platino Plus Difference
The Platino Plus upgrade has given this unit the capability of being a slow juicer
and sorbet maker all-in-one! The versatility and ease of use makes this unit
suitable for any kitchen novice and will have you creating delicious juice, sorbet,
pureés and other creations in no time.
Slow Juicing in the Platino Plus allows you to consume more fruits and vegetables
in one glass than you could eat in one sitting. There is no oxidation or separation
in slow juicing, so it preserves more of the organic nutrients from the food and
keeps it closer to its natural state. Fresh juice from a slow juicer is absorbed
directly into the body, allowing the intake of important vitamins and nutrients from
your food. In addition, you can create a wide variety of juice recipes from fruits
and vegetables you may not normally enjoy eating whole.
The Platino Plus uses a 2-step process in which the juice is extracted from the fruit
or vegetable twice before it enters your glass. The Auger, the main component of
the unit, precisely squeezes the food without shredding or chopping it, helping
you to get more juice in your glass.
Creating freshly made sorbet with the Platino Plus gives you an all-natural dessert
that you can create right at home. Sorbet made in the Platino Plus has no added
sugars or artificial sweeteners, simply use fruit that has been frozen to make a
quick and delicious treat the entire family can enjoy.
The Platino Plus helps in creating a healthier lifestyle by using all-natural fruits
and vegetables to develop an array of delicious creations. This unit also helps
you become environmentally conscience by using less energy, in turn saving
you money and helping to lower your carbon footprint. We hope you enjoy your
Platino Plus experience and thank you for choosing Fagor.

Operation
The Platino Plus is virtually assembled straight out of the box. We suggest taking
it apart and washing the removable parts in warm water with non-abrasive liquid
detergent before the first use. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and allow to
air dry. This will eliminate any traces of dust or residue from manufacturing or
shipping. Never submerge the Platino Plus Base in water or any other liquid.
Assembly when Slow Juicing
1. Assemble the Bowl to the Base. (Figure 1)
a. Make sure the Bowl fits all the way into the shell of the Base.
b. Align the arrow on the Bowl with the arrow on the Base. (Note: If the Bowl
is not completely lowered onto the Base, the machine will not start.)
1
c. Under the Bowl there is a silicone pad (Figure 2) that prevents juice from
exiting through the Sorbet/Pulp Ejector. When juicing, make sure the
silicone pad is firmly in place. When cleaning the Bowl, make sure to slide
the pad out and run water through the Sorbet/Pulp Ejector to remove
excess food debris.

Slow Juicing with the Platino Plus
1. Once all parts are securely in place, connect the power cord to an approved power
source.
2. Place a collector under the Sorbet/Pulp Ejector, and either a glass or the additional
collector under the Juice Ejector.
3. The Platino Plus has 3 settings (Figure 7)
a. ON- this starts the motor.
b. OFF- this stops operation.
c. REV- this moves the Auger in the opposite direction.
7
4. Before placing food in the Platino Plus, make sure all foods have been thoroughly washed;
if food has to be peeled, there is no need to wash. Also make sure to cut all foods to an
appropriate size, so it easily fits into the Food Chute. We recommend cutting food into
slim, 3-inch pieces. Please make sure to remove any hard seeds or pits, such as cherry or
plum pits, as they will not process in the Platino Plus and can damage the Auger.
5. Make sure the unit has been switched to ON before placing any food into the Platino
Plus. Once the food has been dropped into the Food Chute, the Auger will begin
squeezing the food to form the juice. DO NOT push, force, or overstuff the unit. The
Pusher provided with the Platino Plus is only to use when food obstructs the inside of
the Food Chute. Do not insert any other utensil into the unit other than the Pusher when
operating this unit.
6. It is best to insert all food at a slow pace, allowing all pulp to be extracted from the fruit
or vegetable completely.
7. Turn the Platino Plus off when juicing is complete. Do not run the Platino Plus without
any food inside the unit as this could overheat the motor.
8. Remember to close the drip stopper on the Juice Ejector when you have finished juicing
to avoid dripping or spilling juice onto your counter.
9. The Platino Plus has a unique cleaning process when switching between different types
of juices. To clean, simply place one of the collectors under the Juice Ejector, make sure
the drip stopper is open and pour water though the Food Chute with the unit running.
This will rinse out most of the remaining residue from your last juice. When the water
begins to run clear, that is an indication the unit is clean and ready to make a new juice
recipe. When you have finished rinsing, close the drip stopper on the Juice Ejector to
prevent dripping.
NOTE: This process is not an alternative to a complete cleaning of each
disassembled part.

Slow Juicing Tips
Please read the instruction manual carefully and follow the below juicing
suggestion for best results, as a slow juicer has different operating instructions
than that of a traditional juicer.
• Carefully drop food into the Food Chute. The Pusher provided is only for use if
any food obstructs the inside of the Food Chute. Do not overstuff, shove or
force the food down.
• For best results when juicing, cut food into slim, 3-inch pieces and insert foods
slowly to allow pulp to be extracted.
• Do not put any frozen fruits, vegetables or ice into the unit as this will damage
the Strainer.
• Combine leafy greens with a variety of fruit for the best results.
• When juicing foods like carrots or beets, it will be necessary to combine them
with other fruits and vegetables with a higher water content to increase the
amount of juice yielded.
• When juicing foods with a lot of seeds like tomatoes and cucumbers, the
Strainer might clog. Remove your glass or collector from beneath the Juice
Ejector and place an empty glass or collector in its place. Pour water through
the Food Chute to unclog it before continuing to juice.
• Please read the enclosed recipes included with the Platino Plus for other
creative ideas.
• For a more detailed fruits and vegetables slicing chart, visit our website at
www.fagoramerica.com.
NOTE: If the Platino Plus jams/clogs or stops operating, turn it off, and switch
to reverse (REV) for 3-5 seconds. Switch back to ON to continue juicing. Repeat
this process if necessary. While operating in reverse, the Food Chute may come
loose; this is perfectly normal.

For Tough Stains
Because there are many powerful staining properties of the carotenoids that
are found in many vegetables, especially carrots, we suggest using ONE of the
following cleaning procedures:
1. Soak in mild soapy water.
2. Equal parts warm water to cider vinegar.
Other Cleaning Tips
• Never use strong/abrasive household cleaners or ammonia while cleaning the
Platino Plus.
• Cleaning the Platino Plus immediately after each use will also help to reduce
stains on the Bowl and upper parts.

Troubleshooting
PROBLEM SOLUTION
Unit is not operating. • Check power cord and power source.
• Check that all parts have been assembled
correctly.
Unit jams/clogs or stops
operating. • Ensure Food Chute is clear and not blocked.
• Check if hard seeds have been removed before
juicing/making sorbet and are not stuck in the
unit.
• When making sorbet, thaw fruits prior to feeding
the machine. Do NOT use ice.
• Turn the unit off, and switch to reverse for 3
seconds. Switch back on to continue juicing/
making sorbet. Repeat this process if necessary.
• Disassemble upper section and clear remaining
pulp and/or food debris.
Squeaking noise when
running unit. • A slight squeaking sound is perfectly normal.
Please remember not to run the Platino Plus
without any food.
Leaking from underneath the
Bowl. • Be sure the silicone pad on the underside of the
Bowl is tightly in place after cleaning.
Strainer/Dessert Drum
damage. • Refer to operation instruction for proper usage
and tips. Remember not to over stuff food or
force food in the Platino Plus.
Too much pulp coming out. • Cut food into smaller pieces, especially fibrous
foods, to avoid fibers scrapping around the
Auger. Insert food at a slower pace and allow all
pulp to eject from the unit before adding more.
Bowl is stuck and will not
detach from the Base. • This is commonly caused by excess food in the
Bowl. Switch to reverse for 3-5 seconds. Repeat
process 2-3 times. Then, pull the Bowl upward.
Food Chute/Lid is stuck. • Switch to reverse for 3-5 seconds. Repeat
process 2-3 times. You then press down on the
Food Chute while turning counterclockwise.
The Bowl shakes. • It’s normal for the Bowl to shake when juicing or
operating the Platino Plus in reverse.
The Food Chute, Bowl,
Strainer/Dessert Drum,
Rotating Basket and silicone
parts get stained.
• Vegetables such as kale, collards, carrots
and spinach contain beta carotene, which is
responsible for the discoloration.
• Clean all parts of the upper unit immediately after
use.

PROBLEM SOLUTION
There is no juice pouring out
of the Bowl. • Open the drip stopper.
My sorbet is very soupy/
gooey. • You have thawed your food for too long. Place
your food back in your freezer until frozen, and
then thaw for less time.
My sorbet is very
crystalized and icy. • You have not thawed your food for long
enough. Let your foods thaw for a few
additional minutes.
The components won’t
detach after making sorbet. • Run the Platino Plus in reverse for 3-5 seconds
to dislodge any jams. Attempt to disassemble
or repeat as needed.
My frozen food is not being
processed by the auger. • Your food is not sufficiently thawed. Detach
the Food Chute and remove any unprocessed
foods from the bowl.
The Auger, Strainer/Dessert
Drum, Rotating Basket
and Bowl are jammed after
using the Platino Plus.
• Put the food chute back onto the unit, hit
reverse (Rev) for 3 to 5 seconds. This process
should dislodge all components. Repeat as
needed.
