THE FORA IR10 MULTI-TEMP THERMOMETER
Introduction
Thank you for choosing the FORA IR10 Multi-Temp Thermometer.
Please read this instruction manual rst so you can use this
thermometer safely and correctly. Please keep this instruction
manual for future reference. This innovative medical device uses
advanced infrared (IR) technology to measure temperature in-
stantly and accurately in two convenient ways: in the ear and on
the skin. As an added feature, when the thermometer is resting
on a table it displays the time and room temperature. The FORA
IR10 is an elegantly designed infrared thermometer suitable for
use on babies, children and adults.
Benets for the User
•The FORA IR10, a multiple use infrared thermometer, offers
a wide measurement range from 0°C to 50.0°C (32.0°F to
122.0°F), meaning the unit can be used as a forehead or ear
thermometer to measure body temperature.
•The multiple use also extends to usage as skin thermometer
or as a thermometer to measure the milk surface temperature
in a baby's bottle, the surface temperature of a baby's bath as
well as simply the ambient temperature.
•The FORA IR10 infrared thermometer is fast: it can measure
the temperature in one second.
•As an ear or forehead thermometer the IR10 is more comfort-
able for a child than a rectal thermometer.
•The FORA IR10 is accurate; it meets the accuracy requirement
specied in the American standard ASTM E1965-98 and the
European standard EN 12470-5, 2003.
•The FORA IR10 is probe cover free. When used as an ear ther-
mometer no probe cover is required: the probe is waterproof
and can be easily cleaned using a soft cloth slightly dampened
with alcohol or water.
• This makes the FORA IR10 more user-friendly and more cost-
effective since probe covers are not required.
• The FORA IR10 is an easy to use device with single-button
operation
• The FORA IR10 has a memory function that stores the last 20
measurements

WARNING
The use of this instrument is not intended as a substitute for
consultation with your physician. This instrument is NOT water-
proof so do not immerse it in liquids.
SAFETY AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Cautions and Warnings
• Do not use the instrument if you think it is damaged or
notice anything unusual.
• Do not store the FORA IR10 thermometer in places exposed
to direct sunlight or high temperatures.
• Do not touch the lens.
• Never open the instrument.
• If the measurement result is not consistent with how the
patient feels or if it is unusually low, repeat the measure-
ment every 15 minutes or double check the result by means
of another core body temperature measurement.
• This instrument has sensitive components and must be
treated with care. Observe the storage and operating condi-
tions: always store the thermometer in a cool and dry place;
storage room temperatures should be between -20°C and
50°C (-4°F and 122°F) and the relative humidity should be
less than 95%.
• A basic physiological effect called vasoconstriction can oc-
cur in the early stages of fever, resulting in a cool skin effect.
The recorded temperature using a forehead thermometer
can therefore be unusually low.
• If the ear is cold, wait until the ear is warmed up before tak-
ing an ear temperature measurement. This also applies for
the forehead.
• Ensure that children do not use the instrument unsuper-
vised; some parts are small enough to be swallowed.
• Protect the thermometer from:
- extreme temperatures
- impact, dropping and hard shocks
- contamination and dust
- direct sunlight
- heat and cold
• If the instrument is not going to be used for a prolonged
period the battery should be removed.

Care and Cleaning
Use an alcohol swab or cotton wool moistened with alcohol (70%
isopropyl) to clean the thermometer casing and the measuring
probe. Ensure that no liquid gets inside the thermometer. Never
use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning
and never immerse the instrument in water or other cleaning
liquids. Take care not to scratch the surface of the probe lens
and the display.

Setting up the FORA IR10
■ Setting the Hour/Minute
Open Battery Cover. Press twice the SET button. The Hour ashing
appears on the display. While the Hour ashing press the
ON/SCAN button until the correct hour appears. Press the SET
button to conrm. On the display appears the Minute ashing.
While the Minute ashing, press the ON/SCAN button until the
correct minute appears. Press the SET button to conrm.
■ Selecting °C or °F
Press and release the SET button repeatedly until the measure-
ment unit is shown and is ashing on the display. Press the ON/
SCAN button to switch between °C and °F. When the desired
measurement unit is selected, press the SET button to conrm.

THERMOMETER
► As a non-contact thermometer
Press the ON/SCAN button to turn on the thermometer; all seg-
ments will be shown on the display screen for 1 second and a
beep sound is heard.
The last reading will be automatically shown on the display
screen with the icon. After appearance of ashing arrow icon
on the left side of the display screen the device is ready for
measurement.
If the forehead is covered with hair, sweat or dirt, please remove
them before measurement to improve the reading accuracy.
Press and hold ON/SCAN button. On the display screen appears
4 short lines and arrow stops ashing.
Hold ON/SCAN button and steadily move the thermometer
from the temple area to the temple area about 1 cm above the
eyebrow parallel to the skin surface with a distance of no more
than 3 cm. If the probe is placed at an angle on the skin surface
during measurement, the reading will be affected by surrounding
temperature.
After you release ON/SCAN button a beep sound will verify the
completion of measurement and the reading will be shown on
the display screen. 4 short beeps and icon on the display
alert if the temperature is 38°C and above. The device is ready
for the next measurement as arrow icon is ashing again.

► As an ear thermometer
To change from forehead to ear mode, take off the removable
front cover from the thermometer tip. Related icon conrms
that device is in ear mode. While arrow icon is ashing pull the
middle of the ear back and up and gently place the probe into
the ear canal.
For children under 1 year, pull the ear straight back. For an in-
fant, it is best to have the child lying at with the head sideways
so the ear is facing upwards. For an older child, it is best to stand
behind and slightly to the side of the child.
After inserting of the probe into the ear canal immediately press
and release the ON/SCAN button. A beep sound will verify the
completion of measurement. Remove the thermometer from the
ear canal. The reading will be shown on the display screen.
The temperature readings may be different from ear to ear, so
always measure the temperature in the same ear. To change
back to the forehead mode, place the removable front cover on
the thermometer probe.
► As a forehead thermometer
Procedure is same as for non-contact measurement, but the
probe should be pressed on the forehead skin during measure-
ment. If the probe is placed at an angle on the skin/surface
during measurement, the reading will be affected by surrounding
temperature.

► As a room and ambient temperature thermometer
► As a clock thermometer
Open battery cover. Press and release the SET button repeatedly
until the mode of room temperature with icon and clock with
icon are both shown on the display in turn.
Press ON/SCAN button to conrm this setting. From now on
when the device is switched off ambient temperature and time
will be shown on the display in turn.
To cancel this setting press the SET button repeatedly until °C or
°F is ashing and let the device switch of automatically.
Same procedure as for a room and ambient temperature
thermometer.

Recalling Test Results
Exiting the Memory Mode
MEMORY FUNCTION
MEASUREMENT RESULTS
Your meter stores the 20 most recent body temperature results
in its memory. When you switch on the device the last reading will
be automatically shown on the display screen with the «M» icon.
With the meter turned off, press the SET button once, and the
latest result in the memory will be shown. Press the ON/SCAN
button repeatedly to see all results saved in the memory. When
the memory is full, the oldest result will be deleted when a new
one is added.
Press the SET button to go to the time setting mode or wait
for more than 30 seconds and the thermometer will turn off
automatically.

Einführung
Vielen Dank, dass Sie sich für das FORA IR10 Multi-Thermometer
zur Temperaturmessung entschieden haben. Bitte lesen Sie
diese Anweisungen vor Gebrauch durch, um eine sichere und
ordnungsgemäße Verwendung des Thermometers zu gewährleis-
ten. Bitte bewahren Sie diese Anweisungen zu Referenzzwecken
auf. Dieses innovative medizinische Gerät nutzt Infrarot-Tech-
nologie (IR), um die Temperatur schnell und präzise mit zwei
anwenderfreundlichen Methoden zu messen: im Ohr oder auf der
Haut. Als zusätzliche Funktion zeigt das Thermometer die Uhrzeit
und die Raumtemperatur an, wenn es auf einem Tisch abgelegt
wird. Das FORA IR10 ist ein Infrarot-Thermometer in elegantem
Design und für die Verwendung an Babys, Kindern und Erwa-
chsenen geeignet.
Vorteile für den Anwender
•Das FORA IR10 ist ein Infrarot-Mehrzweckthermometer und
bietet einen großen Messbereich von 0 °C bis 50,0 °C (32,0
°F bis 122,0 °F). Es kann zur Messung der Körpertemperatur
an der Stirn oder im Ohr verwendet werden.
•Das Mehrzweckthermometer kann zudem auch als
Hautthermometer oder als Thermometer zum Messen der
Milch-Oberächentemperatur in einer Babyasche, der Ober-
ächentemperatur des Baby-Badewassers sowie der normalen
Umgebungstemperatur dienen.
•Das FORA IR10 Infrarot-Thermometer liefert ein schnelles
Ergebnis: Der Temperaturwert wird innerhalb von einer
Sekunde angezeigt.
•Als Ohr- oder Stirnthermometer ist das IR10 Thermometer weit-
aus angenehmer für ein Kind als ein Rektalthermometer.
•Das FORA IR10 Thermometer ist präzise; es erfüllt die Genauig-
keitsanforderungen der US-amerikanischen Norm ASTM E1965-
98 und der europäischen Norm EN 12470-5, 2003.
•Das FORA IR10 Thermometer benötigt keine Schutzhüllen für
die Messsonde. Bei der Verwendung als Ohrthermometer ist
keine Schutzhülle für die Messsonde erforderlich: Die Mess-
sonde ist wasserdicht und kann problemlos mit einem weichen
Tuch gereinigt werden, das mit etwas Alkohol oder Wasser
befeuchtet wurde.

•Dadurch wird das FORA IR10 Thermometer noch anwenderfre-
undlicher und kostenefzienter, da keine Schutzhüllen für die
Messsonde erforderlich sind.
•Das FORA IR10 Thermometer ist ein anwenderfreundliches
Gerät, das mit einer einzigen Funktionstaste betrieben
werden kann.
•Das FORA IR10 Thermometer verfügt über eine Speicherfunk-
tion für die letzten 20 Messungen.

Vorsichts- und Warnhinweise
• Verwenden Sie das Instrument nicht, wenn die Vermutung
besteht, dass Schäden vorliegen, oder wenn Ihnen etwas
ungewöhnlich vorkommt.
• Bewahren Sie das FORA IR10 Thermometer nicht an einem Ort
auf, an dem es direktem Sonnenlicht oder hohen Tempera-
turen ausgesetzt ist.
• Achten Sie darauf, die Linse nicht zu berühren.
• Das Instrument darf nicht geöffnet werden.
•Falls das Messergebnis nicht dem Benden des Patienten en-
tspricht oder ungewöhnlich niedrig ausfällt, wiederholen Sie die
Messung in einem Abstand von 15 Minuten oder überprüfen
Sie das Ergebnis mithilfe einer anderen Messung der Körperk-
erntemperatur.
• Dieses Instrument verfügt über empndliche Komponenten und
muss mit Vorsicht gehandhabt werden. Beachten Sie die Lager-
und Betriebsbedingungen: Bewahren Sie das Thermometer
immer kühl und trocken bei Temperaturen zwischen -20 °C
und 50 °C (-4 °F und 122 °F) auf. Die relative Luftfeuchtigkeit
sollte unter 95 % liegen.
• Im Frühstadium von Fieber kann ein physiologischer Effekt
mit der Bezeichnung Vasokonstriktion (Blutgefäßverengung)
auftreten, der eine Abkühlung der Haut verursacht. Die mit
einem Stirnthermometer gemessene Temperatur kann daher
ungewöhnlich niedrig ausfallen.
• Wenn das Ohr kalt ist, warten Sie, bis das Ohr aufgewärmt ist,
um eine Messung der Ohrtemperatur durchzuführen. Dasselbe
gilt für die Stirn.

• Stellen Sie sicher, dass Kinder das Instrument nicht un-
beaufsichtigt verwenden; bei einigen kleinen Teilen besteht
Verschluckungsgefahr.
• Schützen Sie das Thermometer vor:
- extremen Temperaturen;
- Fallenlassen, Stoß- und Schlageinwirkung;
- Verunreinigungen und Staub;
- direktem Sonnenlicht;
- Hitze und Kälte.
• Falls das Instrument für einen längeren Zeitraum nicht verwen-
det wird, sollte die Batterie entfernt werden.
WARNHINWEIS
Die Verwendung dieses Instruments kann den Arztbesuch nicht
ersetzen. Dieses Instrument ist NICHT wasserfest und darf
daher nicht in Flüssigkeiten eingetaucht werden.
Pege und Reinigung
Verwenden Sie einen Alkoholtupfer oder einen mit Alkohol (70 %
Isopropyl) befeuchteten Wattebausch, um das Gehäuse des Ther-
mometers und die Messsonde zu reinigen. Achten Sie darauf,
dass keine Flüssigkeit in das Innere des Thermometers gelangt.
Verwenden Sie keine Scheuermittel, Lösungsmittel oder Benzol
für die Reinigung des Gerätes und tauchen Sie das Instrument
auf keinen Fall in Wasser oder Reinigungslösungen ein. Achten
Sie darauf, die Oberäche der Messsondenlinse und die Anzeige
nicht zu verkratzen.
