To initiate playback o a preset, push the P1 or P2 button while the Hell ire is turned on. The
Hell ire will immediately switch to that sound and volume level.

10
3. Batteries and Charging
The Hell ire operates on 10 ‘AA’ batteries. For optimal per ormance, FOXPRO recommends the
use o high-capacity 2000 mAh or greater NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries
rather than alkaline types. You can ind compatible charging systems available rom FOXPRO on
the FOXPRO website at: http://www.go oxpro.com
When you ask the Hell ire to play at extremely loud volume levels, the current demand on the
batteries is much more than alkaline cells can deliver. Consequently, the run time o these
batteries can be very short. The Zinc Carbon (so-called “Heavy Duty” cells) are expressly not
recommended. The per ormance o the Hell ire will be much better with high-capacity NiMH
batteries.
On the back o the Hell ire, you will notice the amber LED. This is the pilot lamp, but also serves
as the low battery indicator. When this light begins to blink during operation, it is alerting you
that the batteries need recharged (i using rechargeable batteries) or replaced (i using alkaline
batteries). I the batteries drop too low to power the Hell ire, it will shut itsel o . Battery run
time is going to depend on many actors including how loud you are operating it.
WARNIN
Do not mix battery types! For example: never use NiMH rechargeable batteries in
conjunction with non-rechargeable alkaline batteries.
WARNIN
Never connect your Hellfire to an unregulated 12V system (i.e. automotive systems,
high current power supplies, etc.) Serious damage will occur which is not covered by
the warranty. The charge jack is intended only or FOXPRO® chargers.
CHAR IN RECOMMENDATIONS
•Never attempt to charge batteries that are not intended to be recharged!
This includes both Zinc Carbon and alkaline cells. The resulting damage can
be serious and will not be covered by the warranty.
•Never attach an unapproved or a non-FOXPRO® charger to your Hellfire!
Damages caused by plugging unapproved charging devices into your Hell ire
will not be covered by warranty.
•Remember that NiMH batteries sel -discharge about 1% per day.
•Do not leave charging batteries unattended.
•Remove batteries rom battery holder when caller will not be used or
prolonged periods to help prevent deep discharge.
•Recharge your batteries periodically—even when not in use—to prevent
deep discharge.

11
•Make sure that the rechargeable battery pack is installed in the Hell ire
properly.
•Disconnect any/all accessory devices that may be attached to the Hell ire
prior to charging. This includes external speakers, auxiliary devices, and USB
cables.
•Follow the included instructions or the particular FOXPRO charger that you
are using.
•Connect the approved FOXPRO charger to the charger jack on the Hell ire
and attach the trans ormer to the appropriate outlet.
•For maximum charge e iciency, we recommend charging your Hell ire in
temperatures ranging rom 40°F to 85°F (5°C to 30°C).
4. Auxiliary jack Function
The Hell ire is equipped with an auxiliary jack labeled “AUX”. The purpose o this jack is to allow
or the connection o certain external devices, such as the FOXPRO Jack-in-the-Box or Jack-
Attack Decoy and to be able to turn these on and o with the TX9 remote control transmitter.
However, there are some strict electrical limits involved with this jack. I these limits are
exceeded, damage to your Hell ire will result. This damage is not covered by the warranty.
The electrically inclined will want to know that the jack is connected to the drain o an internal
Field E ect Transistor with a maximum current rating o 100mA. The “tip” polarity o the 3.5mm
jack is positive, while the sleeve is negative. I the external device is connected with the polarity
reversed, an internal protection diode within the FET will conduct, causing the device to stay on
constantly. The maximum voltage applied to this jack must never exceed 15 volts. Typical uses
or this jack would be to control the FOXPRO® Jack-in-the-Box or Jack-Attack Decoy, or to start
and stop a video recorder. Instructions on connecting various devices to the “AUX” jack are
beyond the scope o this manual. You are urged to seek help rom a knowledgeable pro essional
be ore connecting any unapproved device to this jack. Remember that damage to your Hell ire
caused by improper use o the “AUX” jack is not covered by the warranty, nor will FOXPRO® be
liable or damage to any device connected to this jack
5. Using an Additional Speaker
The Hell ire is equipped with an external speaker jack. This jack allows you to connect an
additional speaker. When you are using an external speaker, be advised that the main speaker

IMPORTANT NOTE
Always unplug the cable rom the TX9 be ore the main unit. I you unplug the main
unit end irst, this could result in the TX9 needing to be manually reset by
momentarily disconnecting the battery.
8. Product Care & Maintenance
In order to help get years o trouble ree service with your FOXPRO game call, it is strongly
recommended that you read and understand the ollowing points. Many o these are
considered proactive or preventative.
Avoid exposure to all precipitation and moisture. Whether you are storing your FOXPRO game
call or decoy away or the summer or just having some down time rom calling, it is highly
recommended that you thoroughly inspect the unit or any signs o moisture. Moisture
(perhaps rom rain, snow, condensation, or other) can potentially enter the unit or the battery
compartment and cause some serious problems. Proper care should be taken to mitigate the
introduction o (or potential or introduction o ) moisture into the machine and make sure that

17
no moisture is present during storage. Moisture can quickly lead to corrosion, electrical shorts,
and even rust—all o which can possibly render the unit damaged and out o warranty. This
type o damage is preventable. For example, i you are operating in rainy, wet conditions, it is
recommended that you place the unit inside o a large plastic reezer storage bag or use a
water/weatherproo deployment bag to keep water rom getting to it. When storing the unit
or prolonged periods, be sure that you keep it in a dry location not susceptible to drawing
moisture.
Remove batteries prior to storage or extended periods of inactivity! All batteries, whether
alkaline or rechargeable, should be removed rom the game calls, decoys, and remote controls
prior to storage or periods o inactivity. Batteries that are le t inside o electronic devices can
leak over time as the chemicals start to break down. Damages caused by this can be very severe
and potentially destroy the electrical components. To prevent this rom happening, simply
remove all batteries rom all devices be ore you put them away. Keep in mind; damage caused
by battery leakage is not a warranty issue.
Periodically charge your rechargeable batteries when not in use! Rechargeable batteries will
not last orever. To help maximize the overall li e o your rechargeable batteries, we
recommend that you periodically charge them up, perhaps once a month or once every other
month, to keep them resh. Batteries that are le t uncharged can enter into a state o deep
discharge. Batteries in this state can, at times, no longer accept a charge and result in
unexpected operation or complete ailure in the ield. It is also recommended that you replace
rechargeable batteries about once a year just to keep them resh.
Keep it clean! Our products are designed to be used outdoors and as a result, they can get dirty
rom time to time. While the dirt may add a bit o character and show that you use it requently
and hard, it is recommended that you spend a ew moments a ter each hunt or at the end o
the season prior to storage to clean it up a bit. Total disassembly won’t be required, just remove
any debris, sticks, leaves, dirt, or anything else that shouldn’t be there. I dirt or oreign objects
make their way into the machine, it can cause problems down the road.
Store in a dry location! I you are planning on storing the unit away or the summer, it is
recommended to keep the unit in a dry location that is not prone to drawing moisture. It is also
recommended to remove all batteries prior to removal.
Other storage recommendations include: Do not stack heavy objects on top o your carrying
cases or other items that may be holding your caller and/or remote control. I too much
pressure is applied to the remote’s LCD screen, it can be punctured or damaged. Too much
weight bearing down on the caller or remote could result in cracking or racturing o the plastic
housings.

18
Check it out before heading into the field! I you are getting your caller out or the irst time
this season, take it out back and check it out be ore you head out on a hunt. Check your remote
range, idelity, high volume, low volume, battery li e, etc. Being prepared and ensuring proper
unctionality be ore heading out on a trip can help you decide i you need new batteries, i it
needs service, or i everything is working well. This can help prevent cancellation o trips and
potential disappointment.
9. Troubleshooting
This section will cover the troubleshooting aspects or the Hell ire and TX9 remote control.
The most common problems are battery related. Be ore per orming anything else, try installing
resh batteries. When your batteries get low, in either the Hell ire or the TX9 remote,
unexpected operation can occur. You can experience such things as loss o audio quality, loss o
remote control range, and other abnormal results.
Problem Solution
Hell ire will Not Turn On Make sure that you have resh batteries installed. I you
are using rechargeable batteries, make sure they are ully
charged. Inspect your battery tray and make sure the
springs are not compressed or corroded as this could lead
to poor battery connectivity.
Hell ire does not produce any
sound
Make sure the Hell ire is turned on. I you still cannot play
sounds, connect the Hell ire to a computer and inspect
the sound iles or missing iles or signs o corruption.
TX9 remote not controlling
Hell ire
See section 10 “Maximizing Remote Range”
Cannot trans er sound list to
TX9
This typically stems rom an error in the play list on the
Hell ire. I you recently added new sounds, double-check
the programming or errors such as duplicate or missing
sound numbers.
TX9 remote does not turn on Install a new 9V battery.
Having trouble with
programming new sounds
Check out FOXPRO’s website or detailed programming
in ormation or your Hell ire. Solutions or many common
issues can be ound there.
10. Maximizing Remote Range
Remote range can be a ected by many actors. Some o these actors can be controlled while
others cannot. In order to achieve the best possible remote range with your Hell ire digital
game call system, it is recommended that the ollowing points be observed:
•Always use high quality alkaline or lithium cell batteries in the remote.

19
•Always maintain clear line o sight between the remote control and the Hell ire. Any
obstructions—no matter how signi icant or insigni icant—can adversely a ect the
radio signal.
•Try to keep the remote control approximately six inches away rom your body, gun
barrel, and metal shooting sticks as these things can detune the remote control.
•Hold the remote control vertically with the antenna pointing skyward.
•Avoid using the device remotely when you are near power lines, cellular phone
towers, and radar (such as near airports or military installations).
•Try to elevate the caller o o the ground by approximately three eet. This can
greatly maximize your overall remote control range.
