This quick introduction shows you the possibilities for deploying and operating
FRITZ!Powerline1240E. Comprehensive information is presented in the PDF manual

FRITZ!Powerline1240E is a powerline adapter that expands your existing powerline
network and can be used with your wireless LAN and network devices as a secure
access point to the home network and the Internet.
For device settings FRITZ!Powerline1240E has a user interface. In this user inter-
face you can update the FRITZ!OS device software, set up a wireless schedule and a
wireless guest access, or configure FRITZ!Powerline1240E as a wireless repeater to
expand your existing wireless radio network.
Thanks to these properties FRITZ!Powerline1240E is a versatile device with many ap-
plication possibilities, that can expand the range of your home network over powerline,
wireless LAN and over LAN connections.

Connecting Wireless LAN and Network Devices
With your wireless and network devices you can use FRITZ!Powerline1240E as an
access point to your home network and your Internet router.
This is how to connect your wireless LAN devices, like smartphones or laptops, which
support the fast connection method WPS, with FRITZ!Powerline 1240:
1. Press the WLAN • WPS button on FRITZ!Powerline1240E for about 1 second until it
starts to flash.
2. Start WPS on your wireless LAN device within two minutes.
If your wireless LAN device does not support the quick connection method WPS:
3. Remove FRITZ!Powerline1240E from the outlet and
take note of the network key printed on the back of
the device.
4. Start the WLAN software on your wireless LAN device
and enter the network key there.
If you would like to use a wired network device:
Connect your network device to one of the LAN so-
ckets on FRITZ!Powerline1240E using a LAN cable.
These values are examples.
Do not adopt these values in your
settings.

FRITZ!Powerline1240E Expands Your Powerline Network
1. Insert FRITZ!Powerline1240E in an outlet
in the vicinity of a powerline adapter that
is part of the existing powerline network.
Wait until the“ WLAN” LED stops flashing
and remains lit up.
2. Press the WLAN•WPS / Powerline•Se-
curity button on FRITZ!Powerline1240E
for 1 second.
3. Within 2 minutes, press the button la-
beled Security, Pair or something similar
on an adapter in the existing powerline
network, and hold it down for 1 second.
4. Now you can use FRITZ!Powerline1240E
at any outlet in your home.
