●Before using the appliance, read these “PRECAUTIONS” thoroughly and operate in the correct way.
●The instructions in this section all relate to safety; be sure to maintain safe operating conditions.

●Do not attempt to install this controller by yourself.
●This controller contains no user-serviceable parts. Always consult authorized service
personnel for repairs.
●When moving, consult authorized service personnel for disconnection and installa-
tion of the controller.
●If a problem (burning smell, etc.) occurs, turn off the electrical breaker immediately to
stop operation, and then consult the authorized service personnel.
●In the event of a malfunction (burning smell, etc.), immediately stop operation, turn
off the electrical breaker, and consult authorized service personnel.
●If the wiring cord is damaged, contact your service representative for instruction.
●Do not expose the controller directly to water.
●Do not operate the controller with wet hands.
●Do not touch the switches with sharp objects.
●Always turn off the electrical breaker whenever cleaning the controller, the air condi-
tioner or the air filter.
●Check the condition of the installation stand for damage.
●Ensure that any electronic equipment is at least one metre away from the controller.
●Avoid installing the controller near a fireplace or other heating apparatus.
●When installing the controller, take precautions to prevent access to infants.
●Do not use inflammable gases near the controller.

FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS
AUTOMATIC OPERATION
●COOLING ONLY MODEL
Merely press the START/STOP button, and the unit will
begin automatic operation in the Cooling or Dry mode
as appropriate, in accordance with the set temperature
and the actual temperature of the room.
●HEAT RECOVERY MODEL
Merely press the START/STOP button, and the unit will
begin automatic operation in either the Heating, Cooling
or Monitor modes as appropriate, in accordance with the
set temperature and the actual temperature of the room.
BACKGROUND LIGHT
Display panel lights up.
For set up of the background light, consult authorized serv-
ice personnel.

Pressed to start and stop operation.

Selects the fan speed (AUTO, HIGH, MED, LOW).

Selects the set temperature.

Indicates during the oil recovery and defrosting operation.
8Power source display
Indicates the main power ON.
9Central control display
Indicates when function is locked from central remote con-
troller or PC controller.
0Fan speed display
ASet temperature display
BMaster control display
C(Upper) Indicates the error code.
(Lower) Indicates the remote controller address.
*“EE” will only be displayed if an error has occurred, it will
not be displayed during normal operation.
Refer to page 6 “ERRORS AND SELF DIAGNOSIS” for de-
tails.

To Start Operation
Press button.
The unit will start and the remote controller’s operation lamp (green) will light
up.
Instructions relating to heating (*) are applicable only to “HEAT & COOL MODEL”(Reverse Cycle).
OPERATION
Example: When set to COOL

To Select Operation Mode
Press button to select the desired mode.

*HEAT FAN
AUTO and FAN cannot be used on “HEAT & COOL MODEL”with no setting for
AUTO CHANGEOVER.

To Set the Room Temperature
Press button to the desired temperature.
▲ : Press to raise the temperature setting.
▼ : Press to lower the temperature setting.
●Temperature setting range:
AUTO .................................. 18 to 30 °C
* Heating ............................... 16 to 30 °C
Cooling/Dry ........................ 18 to 30 °C
The set temperature cannot be set during the FAN mode.
(The temperature will not appear on the remote controller’s display.)
The temperature setting should be considered a standard value, and may
differ somewhat from the actual room temperature.
To Set the Fan Speed
Press button to select the fan speed.
AUTO HIGH MED LOW
When set to AUTO:
* Heating : Fan operates so as to optimally circulate warmed air.
However, the fan will operate at very low speed when the tem-
perature of the air issued from the indoor unit is low.
Cooling : As the room temperature approaches that of the set temperature,
the fan speed becomes slower.
Fan : The fan alternately turns on and off; when on, the fan runs at the
low fan speed.
The fan will operate at a very low setting during Monitor opera-
tion.

Mode Operation
AUTO:
COOLING ONLY MODEL
●When the room temperature is 2 °C higher than the set temperature, the mode
will switch between Cooling and Drying.
●During the Drying mode operation, the FAN setting should be switched to LOW
for a gently cooling effect during which the fan may temporarily stop rotating.
●If the mode automatically selected by the unit is not satisfactory, see page 3 for
instructions on changing the mode setting (COOL, FAN).
AUTO (* AUTO CHANGEOVER):
HEAT RECOVERY MODEL
●When AUTO CHANGEOVER is selected, the air conditioner selects the appropriate operation mode (Cooling or Heating)
according to your room’s present temperature.
●When AUTO CHANGEOVER is first selected, the fan will operate at very low speed for about one minute while the unit
determines the current conditions of the room and accordingly selects the proper operation mode.
●When the air conditioner has adjusted your room’s temperature to approach the set temperature, it will begin monitor
operation. In the monitor operation mode, the fan will operate at low speed. If the room temperature subsequently changes,
the air conditioner will once again select the appropriate operation (Heating, Cooling) to adjust the temperature to the set
temperature value. (The monitor operation range is ±2 °C relative to the set temperature.)
●If the mode automatically selected by the unit is not satisfactory, see page 3 for instructions on changing the mode setting
(HEAT, COOL, FAN).
* Heating:
●Use to warm your room.
●When Heating mode is selected, the air conditioner will operate at very low fan
speed for about 3 to 5 minutes, after which it will switch to the selected fan set-
ting. This period of time is provided to allow the indoor unit to warm up before
begin full operation.
●When the room temperature is very low, frost may form on the outside unit, and
its performance may be reduced. In order to remove such frost, the unit will
automatically enter the defrost cycle from time to time. During defrosting (see
page 5), the heating mode will be temporarily interrupted. will be shown
on the remote controller display.
Cooling:
●Use to cool your room.
Fan:
●Use to circulate the air throughout your room.
Instructions relating to heating (*) are applicable only to “HEAT & COOL MODEL”(Reverse Cycle).
* During Heating mode:
Set temperature must be higher than the
current room temperature.
The Heating mode will not operate if the
set temperature is lower than the actual
room temperature.
During Cooling mode:
Set temperature must be lower than the
current room temperature.
The Cooling mode will not operate if the
set temperature is higher than the actual
room temperature (in Cooling mode, the
fan alone will operate).

SYSTEM OPERATION
There are different ways the unit can be controlled. (Consult the remote controller operating instructions for details on setting
the operating functions.)
<Spare Remote Controller>
Two remote controllers can be connected to one air condi-
tioner unit. The air conditioner operation contents are the
remote controller setting contents set later.
(Both remote controllers show the same display.)
<Control Several Units with just one Remote Controller>
One remote controller can control up to 16 air conditioners.
All the air conditioners can be operated with the same set-
ting.

OPERATING TIPS
*Heating Performance
●This air conditioner operates on the heat-pump principle,
absorbing heat from outdoor air and transferring that heat
indoors. As a result, the operating performance is reduced
as outdoor air temperature drops. If you feel that insuffi-
cient heating performance is being produced, we recom-
mend you use this air conditioner in conjunction with
another kind of heating appliance.
●Heat-pump air conditioners heat your entire room by
recirculating air throughout the room, with the result that
some time may be required after first starting the air con-
ditioner until the room is heated.
*Microcomputer-controlled Automatic Defrosting
When using the Heating mode under conditions of low out-
door temperature and high humidity, frost may form on the
outdoor unit, resulting in reduced operating performance.
In order to prevent this kind of reduced performance, this
unit is equipped with a Microcomputer-controlled Automatic
Defrosting function. If frost forms, the air conditioner will
temporarily stop, and the defrosting circuit will operate
briefly (for about 4 to 15 minutes).
During Automatic Defrosting operation, will be
displayed on the remote controller.
Instructions relating to heating (*) are applicable only to “HEAT & COOL MODEL”(Reverse Cycle).
Operation and Performance
Cooling/Heating Priority (HEAT PUMP MODEL only)
●If another indoor unit in the same system is already oper-
ating in the cooling mode or dry mode, heating mode
settings cannot be performed.
●If another indoor unit in the same system is already oper-
ating in the heating mode, cooling mode or dry mode
settings cannot be performed.
Oil Recovery Operation
Periodically, the oil recovery operation is performed in or-
der to return compressor oil to the outdoor unit. Operation
is stopped during this oil recovery operation. During oil re-
covery operation, will be displayed on the remote
controller.
Setting Restriction
When is displayed there are functions for which
settings cannot be made.
When a button is pushed to change a restricted setting,
will flash.
●Should the power supply to the air conditioner be inter-
rupted by a power failure, the air conditioner will restart
automatically in the previously selected mode once the
power is restored.
●There are functions that are enabled/disabled by DIP
switch settings on the indoor unit.
AUTO Restart
In Event of Power Interruption
●Use of other electrical appliances (electric shaver, etc.) or
nearby use of a wireless radio transmitter may cause the
air conditioner to malfunction. In this event, temporarily
turn off the circuit breaker, and turn on it again, then use
the remote controller to resume operation.

If there is a problem with the air conditioner, it will stop running and
“EE”will be displayed.
If “EE”is displayed, immediately contact authorized service person-
nel.
Do not used the operation below if an error has not occurred.

●Ne jamais essayer d’installer ce contrôleur par soi-même.
●Ce contrôleur contient uniquement des éléments qui ne sont pas accessibles à l’utili-
sateur. Toujours faire appel à du personnel technique agréé pour les interventions
techniques.
●Lors de déménagements, consulter le personnel technique agréé pour le débranche-
ment et l’installation du contrôleur.
●En cas de problème (odeur de brûlé, etc.), couper immédiatement le disjoncteur pour
arrêter le fonctionnement de l’appareil puis prendre contact avec du personnel techni-
que agréé.
●En cas de dysfonctionnement (odeur de brûlé, etc.), arrêter immédiatement le fonc-
tionnement, couper le disjoncteur puis prendre contact avec du personnel technique
agréé.
●Si les câbles d’alimentation sont endommagés, contacter le représentant technique
pour connaître les dispositions à prendre.
●Ne jamais exposer directement le contrôleur à l’eau.
●Ne jamais faire fonctionner le contrôleur avec les mains mouillées.
●Ne jamais toucher les interrupteurs avec des objets pointus.
●Toujours couper le disjoncteur lors du nettoyage du contrôleur, du climatiseur ou des
filtres à air.
●Vérifier la condition du socle d’installation pour voir s’il n’est pas endommagé.
●S’assurer que tout équipement électronique se trouve au moins à un mètre de dis-
tance du contrôleur.
●Eviter d’installer le contrôleur à proximité d’un feu ouvert ou d’autres appareils de
chauffage.
●Lors de l’installation du contrôleur, prendre toutes les précautions nécessaires pour le
placer hors de portée des enfants.
●Ne jamais utiliser de gaz inflammables à proximité du contrôleur.

FONCTIONNEMENT AUTOMATIQUE
●MODELE REFROIDISSANT UNIQUEMENT
Il suffit d’appuyer sur la touche START/STOP et le climati-
seur est automatiquement activédans le mode approprié
(Refroidissement ou Déshumidification) selon le réglage
du thermostat et la température àl’intérieur de la pièce.
●MODÈLE ÀRÉCUPÉRATION DE CHALEUR
Il suffit d’appuyer sur la touche START/STOP et le climati-
seur est automatiquement activédans le mode approprié
(Chauffage, Refroidissement ou Surveillance) selon le réglage
du thermostat et la température àl’intérieur de la pièce.
RETROECLAIRAGE
Le panneau d’affichage s’éclaire.
Pour la mise en place de la lampe de rétroéclairage, consul-
ter le personnel technique agréé.

Appuyez sur cette touche pour démarrer/arrêter le fonction-
nement de l’appareil.

S’allume pendant le fonctionnement de l’appareil.
4Touche de commande du ventilateur
Permet de sélectionner la vitesse du ventilateur (AUTO,
HIGH, MED, LOW).

Permet de sélectionner la température.
6Touche de mode (= commande principale)
Permet de sélectionner le mode de fonctionnement (AUTO,
COOL, DRY, FAN, HEAT).
7Affichage de veille
Signale la récupération d’huile et l’opération de dégivrage.
8Affichage de source d’alimentation
Signale si l’alimentation principale est activée.
9Affichage de contrôle centralisé
Signale lorsque la fonction est verrouillée àpartir d’une té-
lécommande centralisée ou d’un contrôleur PC.
0Affichage de la vitesse du ventilateur

Mise en marche de l’appareil
Appuyez sur la touche .
L’appareil se mettra en marche et le voyant vert de fonctionnement de la télé-
commande s’allumera.
Les instructions relatives au Chauffage (*) s’appliquent uniquement au modèle chauffant et refroidissant (cycle inverse).
FONCTIONNEMENT
Exemple: réglage sur COOL
Exemple: réglage sur 26 °C

Sélection du mode de fonctionnement
Appuyez sur la touche pour sélectionner le mode sou-
haité.

Les modes AUTO et FAN (Ventilation) ne peuvent pas être utilisés sur le “MO-
DÈLE CHAUFFANT ET REFROIDISSANT”non dotéde réglage pour AUTO
CHANGEOVER (le changement automatique).
Réglage du thermostat
Appuyez sur la touche afin de sélectionner la tempéra-
ture souhaitée.
▲ : Permet d’augmenter le réglage du thermostat.
▼ : Permet d’abaisser le réglage du thermostat.
●Plage de réglage du thermostat:
Automatique ............................................. 18 à30 °C
* Chauffage .................................................. 16 à30 °C
Refroidissement/Déshumidification ........ 18 à30 °C
Le thermostat ne permet pas de régler la température en mode Ventilation (FAN);
la température n’apparaît pas sur l’affichage de la télécommande dans ce mode.
Le réglage de thermostat doit être considérécomme une valeur indicative et
cette dernière pourrait différer légèrement de la température réelle de la pièce.
Réglage de la vitesse du ventilateur
Appuyez sur la touche pour sélectionner la vitesse du
ventilateur.
AUTO HIGH MED LOW
(Automatique) (Rapide) (Moyen) (Lent)
Si vous avez sélectionnéle mode AUTO:
* Chauffage : Le ventilateur est chargéde faire circuler l’air chaud de ma-
nière optimale. Cependant, le ventilateur fonctionne très len-
tement quand la température du flux d’air émis par l’appa-
reil intérieur est basse.
Refroidissement:Àmesure que la température de la pièce approche du ré-
glage de thermostat, la vitesse du ventilateur diminue.
Ventilation : Le ventilateur se met alternativement en service et hors ser-
vice; quand il est en service, il fonctionne àla vitesse LOW
(lent).
Le ventilateur fonctionnera àtrès basse vitesse en mode
Surveillance.
