Fusion LockJaw Shackles User manual

Components
Identification Marks and Load Ratings:
There are two types of LockJaw Shackles: “Rated for
Lifting”and “Not Rated for Lifting” shackles. It is
imperative you only use “Rated for Lifting”shackles for all
lifting applications. The identification marks and load
ratings are located next to the Jaw (Pin or Stopper block).
WLL is the Working Load Limit for the shackle.
The improper use of shackles can result in serious
accidents. In accordance to ASME B30.26, shackles must
be inspected before every use. If shackles identification is
compromised (i.e. removed, unreadable or damaged),
discontinue use immediately.
Inspection:
Inspect the shackle before each use. If the shackle shows
any signs of being frayed, cut, burned, melted, unbraided or
excessively worn, discontinue use immediately. If the red
color on the jaw is worn away to silver, discontinue use
immediately. If any of the following conditions are
observed, you must install a refurbishing kit before use:
Cracked or brittle lock
Cut or frayed sleeve
How to Use:
Open LockJaw by loosening the loop and slipping over the
red jaw.
Connect shackle to tow point or a safe and secure anchor.
Slip the loop back over the red jaw
Close the size of the loop
Attach the lock onto the red jaw (see pictures as reference)
Shackle needs to be fully closed with the loop closure
completely nested behind the Jaw (stopper block / pin).
The lock for the shackle must be fully engaged and tight on
the rope to prevent any slippage.
The load applied to the shackle should be centered in the
bow of the shackle to prevent side loading of the shackle.
This shackle is not designed for use with synthetic slings.
If the shackle is to be side loaded, the rated load shall be
reduced according to the following:
Warnings:
Only use “Lifting Rated”Shackles to lift or pull any object
vertically. Do not exceed the shackle’s rated work load.
Dot no use the shackle if you are unsure if you will exceed
the rated load of the shackle. Always check owner’s
manual of the items you are attaching to ensure the item is
safe to attach a shackle. Always attach to an anchor point
designated by the item’s manufacturer. Never attach to a
bumper or tow hitch. Attaching the shackle to an improper
item can cause the item to be damaged or dislodged and
can cause harm to people in the vicinity. Folding,
bunching, pinching of synthetic slings, which occurs when
used with shackles, hooks or other applications will reduce
the rated load. Keep shackle away from sharp edges,
corrosive chemicals and heat over 140° F. This product is
not for highway use, or prolonged towing.

environment out of direct sunlight.
