1 Getting started
Before you use this product, make sure that you have read and
understood Section 2 , Safety (or Section 3 , Sicherheit, or Section 4 ,
Sécurité) and Section 10.1 , Specifications and ratings, and that you have
checked the CL190/CL191 fulfils your requirements.
Mount the CL191 (see Section 5 , Mounting the CL191) and connect it up
(see Section 6 , Connecting the CL191), as required.
Set up the CL190/CL191 for the desired operation as described in
Section 9 , Configuration commands.
We recommend that you visit www.gardasoft.com for application notes on
this product.

1.1 C190/CL191 features - a summary
The CL190/CL191 product is a single channel lens controller for use in
machine vision applications. It works with the following ranges of Optotune
lenses:
EL-10-30
EL-16-40
EL-3-10
The CL190 is a hardware pack enabling OEMs to integrate the controller
into their products at PCBlevel. The CL191 is a board-only controller that
consists of 3 sections; power, control, and output as shown below. The
term 'CL191' is used throughout this document to describe both products
except when necessary to identify any difference.

2 Safety
Read this before using the CL191. Always observe the following safety
precautions. If in doubt, contact your distributor or Gardasoft Vision. The
following symbols mean:
Warning: Read instructions to understand possible hazard
Warning: Possible hazardous voltage.
Where these symbols appear in the manual, refer to the text for
precautions to be taken.
2.1 Electrical
The user must ensure that the potential difference between any
combination of applied signals does not exceed the supply voltage.
The CL191 does not have complete tracking isolation of inputs and
outputs.
Transients caused by inductive loads must be suppressed externally to
the CL191.
2.2 General
The CL191 must not be used in an application where its failure could
cause a danger to personal health or damage to other equipment.
If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer,
the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.

3.1 Elektrik
Der Benutzer muss sicherstellen, dass der Potenzialunterschied zwischen
jeder beliebigen Kombination an angelegten Signalen die
Versorgungsspannung nicht überschreitet.
Die CL191 verfügt über keine vollständige Nachlauf-Isolierung der Ein-
und Ausgänge.
Spannungsspitzen am CL191 aufgrund von induktiven Ladungen müssen
extern unterdrückt werden.
3.2 Allgemeines
Die CL191 darf nicht in Bereichen verwendet werden, in denen bei Ausfall
eine Gefahr von Personen- oder Sachschäden besteht.
Wenn das Gerät nicht entsprechend den Herstellerangaben eingesetzt
wird, kann der durch das Gerät bereitgestellte Schutz beeinträchtigt
werden.

4 Sécurité

4.1 Électricité
L’utilisateur doit s’assurer que la différence de potentiel entre toute
combinaison des signaux appliqués ne dépasse pas la tension de
fourniture.
LeCL191 ne dispose pas de système complet d’isolation des entrées et
sorties.
Les transitoires causés par les charges inductives doivent être supprimés
à l’extérieur du CL191 .
4.2 Général
Le CL191 ne doit pas être utilisé dans une situation où toute panne de
celui-ci mettrait en danger la santé des personnes ou risquerait
d’endommager d’autres équipements.
Si l’appareil est utilisé d’une manière différente de celle recommandée
par le fabricant, la protection offerte par l’appareil pourra en être altérée.

5 Mounting the CL191
The CL191 is mounted using a single M2 screw as shown in the illustration
below:
5.1 Environmental considerations
The CL191 is a bare PCBand has no ingress rating. It should be sited
away from water or dirt.

6 Connecting the CL191
Refer to Section 10.1 , Specifications and ratings for the ratings of the
connections. The CL191's connections are shown below:
The CL191's UART and manufacturing test connections are on the
underside of the PCBas shown below:
The I2C connections to the CL191 are shown below:
Power supplied to the CL191 must be in the range 4.5VDCto 5.5VDC.
