heat is“stored up” in walls,furniture,
rugs and draperies, your air condi-
tioner takes longer to produce the

The Iargerslot inthe adapter must be
aligned with the Iargerslot inthe wall
receptacle to provide proper polarity
in the connection of the power cord.
CAUTiON: Attaching adapter
ground terminal to wall receptacle
cover screw does not ground the
appliance unless cover screw is
metal, and not insulated, and wall
receptacle is grounded through
house wiring. Youshould have
the circuit checked by aqualified
electrician to makesure the recep-
tacle is properly grounded.
When disconnectingthe power
cordfromthe adapter,always hold
the adapter with one hand. If this
is not done, the adapter ground
terminal is very likely to break
with repeated use.

Temperature control
Whenyou turn the TEMPEf?ATURE
control to the desired setting, the
thermostat will automatically controi
the temperature of the indoor air.
The higher the number selected,
the cooler the indoor air will be.
TheSave EnergyRangeisavisual
reminder that you can conserve
energy by selecting ahigher room
temperature but still keep the room
cool and less humid than outside.

The vent door inyour air conditioner
isclosed whent~eVENTpushbutton
isout and to the left and only the air
inside the room can be circulated
and conditioned. Pushingthe VENT
button in and sliding it to the right
opens the vent door,allowing a
small amount of indoor air to be
exhausted from the room.
‘Energy saverswitch
ENERGYSAVER I
The ENERGY SAVER switch con-
trols the fan operation. When it’s
in the NORM position, the fan will
circulate room air continuously.
When it’s in the SAVE position, the
fan will automatically cycle on and
off with the compressor.
For fan only operation, ENERGY
SAVER switch must be in NORM
position.

Moisture removat
The moisture that your air condi-
tioner removesfrom the air drains
to the rearof the cabinet where it
is picked up by afan anddispersed
againstthe condenser.Occasion-
ally, more likely during start up, a
“pinging” noisemaybe heard.Tfiis is
normalfor ashorttime inlesshumid
areasand longer in very humid
areas.This method of moisture
removal improves the operational
efficiency of your air conditioner.
Note: Before movingyour aircondi.~
tioner to another location, turn it
off and”wait5or 10minutes.This
will allow the condensate to drain
from thecoil intothe basepan.Then,
keeping afirm grip on the air condi-
tioner, carefully raisethe window
andtilt the air conditioner to the
outside to drain the water from the
basepan.
SetTEMPERATUREcontrol at
~sired number (usuallythe mid-
point isa good starting position). If
roomtemperature isnotsatisfactory
after areasonabletime, setthe
thermostat control at ahigher num-
berfor acooler room or atalower
number for awarmer room.

The foam air filter behind the inlet
grille should be washedat least
eveW30 daysor as often as itneeds
cleaning.
Removethe inlet grille bygrasping
the tab atthe top ofthe grille, pulling
out and lifting grille out.
Placegrille on flat surfaceand
remove filter. Washfilter in hot,
soapywater,just asyou would a
sponge. Squeeze dry.
Toreinstall filter, place it on pins
located on backside of grille.
Toreplace grille, place the two tabs
at bottom of grille into slots on case
and push grille forward.
