Programming
Initial Programming
KTD-404 Programming
Use the following steps to program the KTD-404:
Step 1) Supply power to the unit. The LCD will momentarily isplay the wor s Controller
Keypa  or the type of keypa . Next, the normal operating isplay menu will appear:

program other components in the DIGIPLEX system, inclu ing:
 Pan/Tilt/Zoom Receiver Programming
 Vi eo Switcher Programming
 Alarm Interface Programming
 CyberDome Programming
P/T/Z receiver programming an initial entry into programming for other system components
is provi e ; please refer to component manuals for complete programming instructions.
Helpful Hint: For large DIGIPLEX III systems, the KTD-311 Software Downloa Package
can be use to easily ownloa camera titles.
For new installations, these instructions shoul be followe in the or er in which they are
presente . If any programme ata nee s to be change at a later ate, the menu associate
with that ata can be accesse by entering the appropriate programming mo e an using
the esignate key(s) to a vance to the menu.
The KTD-404 offers many programming choices which i entify how it will function in the
system. A separate co e is use to access the menus that escribe these choices.

Camera Site Access
System Size
Step 3) The CLEAR MEMORY option will erase all ata in the controller keypa s
nonvolatile memory an reloa factory efault values.
To clear the keypa s memory, press

Step 4) This menu offers a safety check. If a

Step 5) This menu is use to set the system size. Use the numerical keys to enter the
largest camera number, largest monitor number, largest multiplexer number, an
largest preset number in the system. Maximum entries are: cameras-511,
monitors-64, multiplexers-64, an presets-63.

between columns. Once all entries are ma e, the isplay will automatically
a vance to the next menu.
Step 6) This menu is use to eny or permit the controller keypa s access to certain
camera sites. Press

Multiplexer Enabled
Step 8) This menu etermines which multiplexers can be enable (accesse ) from the
keypa . This must be one for each keypa in the system. To enable a
multiplexer, press

multiplexer operating mo e. (When in multiplexer operating mo e, pressing the
key toggles through the views selecte here.) Move the joystick own to
scroll through the list of views available. For each view, press

After the entry, the isplay will automatically a vance to the next menu:
NOTE:
In some applications, a user may prefer to have the monitors numbere simply as
1, 2, 3, etc., instea of using the matrix switcher output number. To allow for
the ifference in numbers, simply subtract the esire monitor number from the
matrix switcher output number, an enter the result as the monitor offset.
Example: Suppose a keypa has a monitor that is connecte to matrix switcher
output #12. To enable the monitor to be a resse as Monitor #1, subtract 1 from
12 an enter the result (11) as the monitor offset.
(Matrix Switcher Number) - (Monitor Number) = (Offset)
(12) - (1) = (11)
In this particular example, if more than one monitor were to be controlle from the
keypa , a itional monitors woul be connecte to matrix switcher outputs 13, 14,
15, etc. an woul be controlle as Monitor 2, Monitor 3, Monitor 4, etc.
The keypa will eny any monitor offset number that conflicts with Largest Monitor an
Monitor Access programming choices that were ma e earlier in this section (Refer to Step
4 an Step 6).
Step 1 ) When place in the annunciation mo e, the KTD-404 will annunciate call-in
requests generate by access control receivers or a KTD-463 Alarm Chassis. In
this mo e, the keypa will stack 32 calls in the or er in which they are receive .
Annunciation will change the LCD menu on the Normal Operating Display. The
numbers of the first three sites to call in will appear in the LCD win ow, as shown
below:

Monitor O set
Step 11) The efault program for the keypa ictates that the selecte monitor number will
correspon to the number of the matrix switcher output to which it is connecte .
For example, if Monitor 12 appears in the keypa s isplay win ow an a camera
selection is ma e, the monitor that is connecte to output 12 of the matrix switcher
will switch to that camera.

Tone Type
Step 13) If the KTD-404 has been programme for annunciation, it will pro uce an au ible
tone when a call-in request is receive . This tone can be programme to be a
single frequency or multiple frequency (warble).
Select the esire call tone. The isplay will automatically a vance to the next
menu.
Entry Veri ication
Step 14) This option changes how camera an monitor numbers are selecte while the
keypa is in the normal operating mo e.
For example, without entry verification, keying in

Enabling entry verification changes the function of the
talk
key on the KTD-404
esktop keypa , an the

key on the KTD-304R rack-mount keypa . Both
become the key. An keycap has been supplie with the unit. Refer to
Keycap Replacement, Appen ix B.
Keep in min that selecting the entry verification function will cause the talk
function to be isable . If both the talk function an the entry verification function
are to be enable at the same time, contact Kalatel for instructions.
Once an entry is ma e, the LCD menu will return to the Normal Operating Display
(Figure 8).

If a P/T/Z receiver or a KTA-12 series P/T/Z ome is equippe for preset camera positioning
(P option), the receiver can store 10 preset positions in its nonvolatile memory. Each preset
position can be calle up in ivi ually an , if esire , can also be inclu e in a preset tour (i.e.,
camera automatically pans, tilts, zooms, an focuses through a series of preset positions).
The following proce ure explains how preset positions are entere for both purposes.
Step 1) Access the receiver setup menu as explaine on page 16. The first receiver
programming menu will appear as shown below:

Step 5) Assign a preset position number (one or two igit epen ing on the receiver type
an largest preset number) using one of the two metho s escribe below:
Method 1: If the position is not to be inclu e in the preset tour, enter the preset
number by using the number key(s). A tone will soun to acknowle ge that the
position has been store , an the isplay will return to Figure 42 to allow entry of
the next position.
Method : If the position is to be inclu e in the preset tour, enter the preset
number an hol the last igit entere until a tone soun s. The following isplay
will appear.
Step 6) Repeat Steps 4 an 5 for each a itional preset position. When one, press

to exit to the menu shown in Figure 40.
Step 7) Repeat Steps 2-6 for each camera site using preset positioning.
Use the numerical keys to enter the time that the camera shoul remain at the
position (1-31 secon s). The isplay will return to Figure 42 to allow entry of the
next position.
