Your hood has anameplate on which is stamped the model number and serial number. To
locate nameplate, removefilter and look on back wall of hood body.
Model and serial numbers are also on the Purchase Record Card which came with your hood.
Before sending in this card, please record the numbers in the space below, or get them from
nameplate described above, and record here.

When using your hood.. .
Dueto the hoodfan drawingpower,specialcaution isneededto avoidspreading
of possibleflamefrom the cookingsurfaceofyourrange. M
Never leave surface units unattended at high heat settings. Boilover causes @--- -‘-
smokingand greasyspilloversthat may ignite and spreadif ventilating hoodis 8
used. Usesurface unit heat settings recommendedby manufacturer and ade- ~
quate-sizeutensils. N
Whenflaming foods underthe hood,turn the fan off. Thefan, if operating,may &
spreadthe flame. \_______
Never useyour cooking appliance for warming or heating the room. The elec-
trical wiring of your rangeventilating hoodmay not withstand the resulting ex- W
cessiveheat. h
Keephood and greasefilters clean accordingto instructions to maintain good $
venting and to avoidgreasefires. \

Don’t attempt to repair or replace any pad of your hood unless it is specifically
recommended in the book. All other servicing should be referred to aqualified
technician.
Read the warranty on the warranty sheet* which accompanies your Use and Care
Book.
Disconnect hood at range circuit breaker or main fuse before performing any
service.
*lf youdid not receive the warranty sheet, drop acard to the Publications Distribution Section, General Electric
Co., P.O. Box 111, New Concord, Ohio 43762.
Give them the completemodel number of your hood plus your name, address and zip code, and a warranty
will be sent you.
Fan Switch –Rotate knob clockwise to Lamp Switch –Rotate clockwise from
HI for maximum air movement or any OFF position for both NORMAL LIGHT
position between HI and LO as desired. and for NIGHT LIGHT.
Always rotate knob counterclockwise for
OFF. /
Start the fan at the beginning of cooking operations that produce odors and vapors.
When heavy smoking is expected, use rear units for maximum

The hood is equipped with two removable metal filters that separate grease from the
air being vented through the hood. Filters must be in place and relatively clean to do
an efficientjob. Metal filters should be cleaned at least once amonth. DO NOT OPER-

TO REPLACE THE FILTERS, put the filter rim in top miter slot, push up and ;L11OWt!le
filter to drop down again ancllockinto place in the frame,

Ycmr ventilating hood has built-in protection against overheating. If the motor over-
heats it will turn off automatically and turn on again when it has cooled. Motor shut off
is an indication of trouble.
If the fan fails t.o circulate air, possible causes such as the fan blade striking the hood
shell or excessively soiled filter should be checkeciand corrected before using the hood
again.
If the fan operates but moves air slower than normal, check to be sure the filter is clean.
If that does not correct the problem, call your serviceman.
70 (Hem Motor and Fan:
1. DISCONNECT POWER AT MAIN FUSE BOX OR CIRCUIT BREAKER

2. Remove filters.
3. Wipe inside surfaces and motor with cloth, dampened only in ammonia and warm
water solution.
4. Replace filters.
5. Connect power at main fuse box or circuit breaker.
